6 born on or after January 1, 2007 with an HYPP status of NH or HH, it will be required to be HYPP tested at the same time it is parentage verified in order to be registered. The HYPP test results will be designated on the foal s ApHC Certificate of Registration. Descendents of NH or HH ApHCregistered horses will also be required to be HYPP tested/parentage Verified and have the HYPP status designated on their ApHC Certificates of Registration. If you want to administer Acetazolamide, a drug used with apparent success for prevention of clinical episodes of paralysis, when showing your registered Appaloosa in an ApHC-approved or sponsored event, your Appaloosa s positive (N/H or H/H) HYPP test results must be documented through the ApHC by DNA testing from a sample that has also been tested to verify parentage. The positive HYPP status of your Appaloosa must be noted on the ApHC Certificate of Registration and made available to the public in the horse s files. This must be done prior to the horse being shown in any ApHC-approved or sponsored show. For further information regarding administering acetazolamide, see Administration Guidelines in the current Official Handbook of the ApHC. 7 INTEGRITY... PRESERVATION... HERITAGE... In addition to preserving your horse's past and protecting its future, registering your Appaloosa enables you, or a future owner, to participate in the wide variety of activities available through local, regional, and national venues. Whether your Appaloosa is solid or colored, registration increases its value and is an important part of responsible Appaloosa ownership. Join a tradition of excellence and the growing number of proud Appaloosas owners by submitting your registration application today. ApHC members can register fillies and colts for a registration fee of only $30 as long as the application is postmarked between their foal date and 6th month foal date. After their 6th month foal date to their 12th month foal date, the fee increases to $65. After their 12th month foal date to their 24th month foal date, the fee increases to $115. After their 2nd year foaling date, the cost of registration is $150. For example, if your foal was born March 5th, you have until September 5th of the year foaled to have the registration application postmarked and to register the foal for the $30 member fee. The registration fee for pedigreed geldings is only $60 regardless of age. Registration of hardship geldings and spayed mares displaying Appaloosa characteristics to be eligible for Regular (#) classification is only $125 regardless of age. Contact the Registration Department with questions at (208) ext.300 The Appaloosa Foundation is the charitable division of the Appaloosa Horse Club. A renewed focus is driving efforts to expand fundraising so that the Foundation can do more to support the Appaloosa and the Appaloosa Community. Donations of all amounts are appreciated.
