Brand/Vet Inspections Both a Washington state brand inspector and liscensed veterinarian will be present to facilitate in writing any brand and health papers that may be required. Some tests may need to be administered for health papers to specific regions of the country. Bar R will work with the buyers to ensure that this will take place in the event that they are required however, all additional health test expences are the buyer s responsibility. Delivery Buyer s are responsible for their own trucking, delivery arrangements & costs. Bar R will assist in housing purchases until delivery is scheduled. Hells Canyon Tour see page 47 for more details Dear Wagyu Breeders, On behalf of Bar R Cattle Co. we welcome you to our first production sale. In 1989 we went to Japan to learn about Wagyu cattle. For 10 days we looked at cattle in almost every prefecture trying to get a good understanding of the Japanese Wagyu, the Japanese philosophy, and their management practices. The Wagyu are a national treasure of Japan and we gained enormous respect for that. We were excited to start breeding these cattle ourselves. We have been breeding Wagyu cattle for 26 years, and our first F1 calf was registered in the American Wagyu Association in Bar R Cattle Co. helped collect carcass data for the National Wagyu Sire Summary, which allowed us to make decisions on which sires and lines to use to make progress in carcass traits. We have also used data from the Australian Breed Plan for evaluating milk EBV data in trying to increase milk in our high carcass value cattle. The last 5 years we have been evaluating our bulls and some of the heifers in a GrowSafe system to select on increased performance and efficiency using average daily gain and residual feed intake data without losing carcass value. We are of the opinion that the addition of the polled gene into the Wagyu breed will be the future direction of many World Wagyu breeders outside of Japan For this sale we have put together a set of superior cattle, both male and female, that we hope will attract the purist Wagyu enthusiast as well as the commercial cattleperson. We are very optimistic about the Wagyu breed and excited to see how it will be incorporated into the cattle industries of different countries. It will not and should not be the same in every country, but because of these unique carcass traits, Wagyu genetics will influence the cattle industry across the world. The dam of 8B is sired by Bar R Yasufuku 44W out of a Yasufuku Jr. daughter so double bred Yasufuku Jr. on the maternal side. This unique combination of Bar R Shigheshigetani 30T paternal side with the Yasufuku Jr. maternal side has resulted in an exceptional carcass heifer which is shown in her carcass EPD data. The Dam of 18B is BR MS Itofuku 7652 a cow Bar R purchased from Blue Rock Cattle Co. (Gerry Pittenger kept 7652 for his last cow). He liked her conformation and was impressed with her sire BR Itomichi 4632 (ranked # 11 for marbling) and her grand sire, BR Itomichi 0602, for his conformation. 18B has the second highest pedigree EPD of any female in this sale as well a high carcass weight EPD. The dam of 36U is Bar R Yasufuku 38R a cow with Yasufuku Jr on the top side and Michifuku on the bottom side of her pedigree. Bar R 36U is a cow with a tremendous marbling pedigree with an inbreeding coefficient of 14 %. She has a heifer calf (tag D6) at her side by Bar R Shigeshigetani 30T which sells with her. The maternal side of 4T involves the bulls Michifuku, Fukutsuru 068 and Kikuaysu 400 all supporting a high carcass quality female. 4T has an inbreeding coefficient of 12% indicating 12% of her genes are homozygous. She has a heifer calf (tag D1) sired by Bar R Shigeshigetani 30T. Not only do you get an elite cow but an elite calf with the potential of being the top carcass female in the breed.
