Once again, the few days we have together will be filled with many fun and exciting events, great folks and superior Hereford genetics. This year we have an exciting list of consignors who have brought the utmost in quality to the table. This is the event to come to if you are looking for a fun-filled weekend and are sourcing some of the best Hereford individuals found in the Northwest. As you will see in this catalog, there are many females that will work in both the show ring and pasture as well as many embryo packages that would make any progressive Hereford program across the country take a second look. On behalf of the entire OHA Board of directors and myself I want to welcome you to the 51st annual sale. We are very excited to be back in the beautiful town of Madras, OR for our event this year. As a group, we are driven by the passion and enthusiasm found in each of our breeder members and supporters, this is exemplified in our junior members and their continual drive to excellence. We have numerous new consignors joining us this year, along with our sale veterans. This year s sale lots represent some of the best genetics in the nation and we are thrilled to bring them together on one stage for you, our buyers. You are bound to find the genetics in this offering that will lead your show string and breeding programs well into the future. Our state sale provides an opportunity for all of our members to network and market their individual breeding programs and we are amazed by the consignments and know they will fit into a vast array of our junior and breeder programs alike. I would be reminisced in my duties if I did not give a shout out to our donation heifer program, back for a third year it is a joint venture between the OJHA and OHA. Thanks to the generous donations of the syndicate group last year this fundraiser raised over $5500 for our juniors and their continued activities. New for 2016 the juniors have pledged to be part of the National Hereford Women s Lot 17 scholarship fundraising program, in which a percentage of the proceeds from the donation heifer will be donated to the NHW to fund scholarships on a national level. Linda Sims, of Vollstedt Farms has generously donated a flashy female for this year s donation heifer. Make sure to contact a junior board member or myself to be part of this great donor group. I would also like to thank Harfst Herefords for coming on as an event sponsor of this year s Fall Festival. We appreciate your continued support of our combined functions and activities. We look forward to the advancement of the bond between the Oregon Hereford Association, Oregon Hereford Women and the Oregon Junior Hereford Association at this great event in Madras. The weekend will kick off on Friday with cattle viewing and a traditional barn party potluck dinner that everyone is invited to attend. We will be having our annual membership meeting and banquet on Saturday night after the sale, this will be a time of reflection on 2016 and strategic planning for our 2017 events.
