You have qualified to compete in the Kansas High School Rodeo State Finals. Enclosed you will find an entry form which must be filled out and your parent/guardian must sign by EACH event that you are competing in at finals. Seniors, you must turn in a copy of your transcripts at state finals check-in to the scholarship committee A scholastic eligibility report must be submitted with ALL state entries Full payment must accompany your entries, this included fee payments, stall money and hookups). Entries and required paperwork are due by May 6, 2017 at the Lakin rodeo. If you have the forms earlier, then it is greatly appreciate that you turn those in before that date. There is a postmark date May 3 rd, If you do not get your entry and all papers turned in by this date, you may turn your entries in with a $ late fee (no exceptions!!) no later than May 19, 2017 (must be postmarked by then). No entries after the May 19 th deadline will be accepted please no excuses or asking for exceptions on this. (Western dress code is required for check in) You must be checked in no later than 3:00 on Wednesday. In case of an emergency, please contact Troy Brunson A mandatory contestant meeting and family picnic night will be held immediately following check in at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the arena. 2 Please make sure your contestant is in western dress for check-in. We will elect Board of Directors & Student Officers and Event Directors Adult and a mandatory student meeting will begin at 3:30 pm May 31, 2017 We also have several Committees, which are listed below. If anyone has any expertise or interest in any of the committees please contact any Board member about the positions. The KHSRA is a great organization for our youth, but would not be possible if not for the great volunteer help of parents such as you. We need your help in order to succeed and make this a great experience for our youth. If you want to make a difference, get involved. National Team Info National Qualifiers will be required to make deposits for stalls, accommodations, and entry fees. BOTH parents must also sign the entry form Sunday before you leave. Please be prepared to complete National Forms immediately after awards presentation. These forms are due in the National Office 5 days following state finals. There is no time to mail them to me. Separate checks will be required for : 1. Camping spot requests 2. Optional Jackpot that is available to be entered by contestants. Camping fees and jackpots fees are paid separately to different entities. Thank you! 3 Congratulations! You have qualified to compete in the KHSRA State Finals Rodeo, which will be held in at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, KS. State Finals will consist of two long go-arounds and a final go-around. All contestants will compete in two long go s. The Finals short go, is for the top 15 contestants who have earned the greatest number of points during the entire year. This will be determined at the end of the 2 nd long go on Friday night. State Finals Average Prize Winners will be the top contestants after two goarounds of competition at the state finals. State Finals Average points will be determined and awarded after the end of the final round of competition on Saturday evening. Year-End winners will be determined by the points brought into the finals plus all points earned at the Finals, (1 st go + 2 nd go + 3 rd go (short round) + average of the finals.) We will have Go-Around Winners, State Finals Champions, and Year-End Winners. Everyone who participates in state finals this year will receive a finalist coat. The following is the point breakdown for the Finals: Maximum points possible to carry into the finals 130 First Go-Around points given to top 10 in 1 st go 10 Second Go-Around points given to top 10 in 2 nd go 10 Final Go-Around points given to top 10 in final go (short go) 10 Finals Average points given to top 10 after 3 rounds of competition 15 POINTS AVAILABLE AT STATE FINALS Place Each Finals Go-around Average A brief explanation of our point system: We had 22 rodeos this year. Contestants may carry in points from their best 13 rodeos (max 130 points). The cutting and reining cow horse count 65% of their best scores going into finals. A maximum of 45 points can be earned during the three go-arounds and the average. Each of the three go-arounds is worth 10 points given to the top 10 individuals and the average is worth 15 points broken down as shown in the table. The balance of the points will be given to the top eight year-end winners in each event.

Contestants Signature Parents Signature All Entry Fees are one time for all Go's i.e. barrels costs $30.00 to enter for the entire finals. CORRECT MONEY MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRY FORM. Make checks payable to KHSRA. If State Finals Entry check is returned for insufficient funds this will automatically disqualify contestant from State Finals. All seniors must bring their transcripts to state, all contestants must submit with their entry a Scholastic Eligibility Report included in the Finals packet, or you will not be allowed to rodeo. Team Ropers must declare their partner. Partner must be qualified for State Finals. Team Ropers cannot change partners once entries have been submitted without a medical release. There is no payback at finals, but you can enter the optional jackpot or 4D sidepot for barrels and poles to be eligible for that payout.

5 OPTIONAL RODEO JACKPOT AND/OR 4D STATE FINALS SIDEPOT ENTRY (barrels, poles & goats) There is no payback at state finals. Because of this the board voted to implement an OPTIONAL jackpot for each event at finals. This cost is $ per person per event (team roping both partners must enter). The entry fee will be split for 1st Go and for 2nd Go. This jackpot is based on your rodeo run and is NOT a separate run. To enter the jackpot, please put an X next to the event you want to enter (on the official entry form) and include $ per event. There is ALSO an optional 4D sidepot for barrels, 4D goats and 3D poles only. You do not have to enter the rodeo sidepot above to be in the 4D or 3D sidepot. This also is based on your rodeo run, but is paid out in a 4D format (half, half, whole split barrels and whole second poles, whole second goats). To enter the 4D sidepot, please list below your entries for it. Specify barrels, poles and/or goats. The entry fee is $60.00 per event. 6 In order for a KHSRA member to be eligible to compete at the Kansas High School Rodeo State Finals, the student must be in good standing, and without undesirable misconduct at school. They must be enrolled in the 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, or 12 th grade the year preceding the State Finals that they are entering. They must be passing at least 70% of their classes taken. 8 KHSRA ACADEMIC RODEO TEAM (**NOTE THIS IS A FORM THAT SHOULD BE TURNED IN SEPARATE FROM YOUR STATE FINALS PACKET MATERIAL. This is NOT judged by KHSRA. You need to follow all rules and turn this application in on time. KHSRA, along with Farm Credit of Kansas, recognizes students who maintain a high GPA at school along with all their other activities, including rodeo. The top five in each class will be given shirts designating them as the 2017 ACADEMIC RODEO TEAM. Awards will be presented at the membership meeting on Wednesday of state finals. The team is also introduced during the grand entry on Thursday evening. YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. IF YOU ARE NOT IN ATTENDANCE, THE AWARD WILL BE GIVEN TO THE NEXT ELIGIBLE STUDENT. All senior members of the team will receive a scholarship from Farm Credit based on the number of years you have been a member of the Academic Team. You MUST complete the scholarship application provided to you by the Scholarship Committee. Special recognition will be given to seniors who have been on the team for four years. Each contestant will need to complete the form below. An official copy of your transcript that includes the fall semester of 2016 must be returned with the form.
