Member Staff Present: Kelvin Knauf, Director of Planning & Community Development Wendy Lloyd, Planning Secretary City Council Members Present: None Chairman Meadows called the meeting to order at 5:43 p.m. REGULAR BUSINESS - APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Chairman Meadows asked for a motion to approve the special call meeting minutes for August 21, 2017 Vice Chairman Perry motioned Member Jeanis 2 nd Vote: 3-0 Motion Carried Chairman Meadows asked for a motion to approve the special call meeting minutes for September 19, 2017 Vice Chairman Perry motioned Member Jeanis 2 nd Vote: 3-0 Motion Carried OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS a. Consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from Anthony Shue to replace rotten wood and re-paint the building located at 1006 W. Cherry Avenue. 2
3 Page 2 of 2 Mr. Knauf stated that Mr. Shue is here tonight and questioned if he was replacing the rotten wood with wood. Anthony Shue 7533 Circle 10, Orange, Tx: Mr. Shue stated yes. Mr. Knauf stated the colors that he is proposing are on the approved paint colors pallet and recommend approval of the Certificate of Appropriateness. Member Jeanis motioned Vice Chairman Perry 2 nd Vote: 3 0 Approved b. Consider an Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from Glendi Perez to re-paint the building located at 1409 W. Cherry Avenue. Mr. Knauf stated that they are wanting to repaint with approved colors and recommendation is to approve. Vice Chairman Perry motioned Member Jeanis 2 nd Vote: 3 0 Approved c. Consider an Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from Rebecca A. Davis to demolish a building located at 1511 W. Cherry Avenue. Mr. Knauf stated that Mrs. Davis is here and own the yellow building on Cherry that used to be a beauty shop and are wanting to demolish the building. He stated that he didn t see any historic significance, architectural features. Chairman Meadows asked when it was constructed and if it had been remodeled. Rebecca Davis 5548 Crosstimber Dr., Orange, TX: Mrs. Davis stated it had been remodeled from a dancing studio to a beauty salon. Mr. Knauf stated the recommendation is to approve. Vice Chairman Perry motioned Member Jeanis 2 nd Vote: 3 0 Approved Chairman Meadows adjourned the meeting at 5:47 p.m. 3
4 MEMORANDUM To: From: Subject: Historical Preservation Commission Kelvin Knauf, Director of Planning and Community Development Consider an Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from James Pernell to replace rotten wood, remove chipped paint and re-paint structures at 912 Pine Avenue Date: October 30, 2017 Background Attached for your consideration is an Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from James Pernell to replace rotten wood, remove chipped paint and re-paint part of the house and garage at 912 Pine Avenue. Included in your agenda packet are pictures to show the rotten wood areas and the chipped paint. After replacing the trim work that has rotted, Mr. Pernell proposes painting the trim Woodsey Brown (SW 2924), which is consistent with the approved color charts. A copy of the proposed color is included in your agenda packet. The non-trim areas that will have the rotted wood and/or chipped paint removed will be painted their current color. Recommendation I recommend that the Historic Preservation Commission approve the Certificate of Appropriateness from James Pernell to replace the rotted wood, remove the chipped paint and re-paint part of the structures at 912 Pine Avenue. 4
