In the latter case, even money is necessary. Map Printout June Scale 1:7500 for classes of 12 years and younger as well as 45 years and older. Scale 1:10000 for all other classes. Contour interval 5 m. Maps are enclosed in plastic cover. Size of the map sheet is A5 for H/D14 and younger on both days. Other classes have an A3 map on Saturday and A4 on Sunday. The competition map is on view at the start. Old maps of the area are on view in a bulletin on Koovee web pages. Maps are not collected at finish. Remember that you are not allowed to show the map to other competitors before the last starting time.
Terrain The terrain is varying and fragmented by fields, waters and roads. The course setters have used the best areas of the terrain, yet there are some thickets particularly on the hill next to the competition centre. Plenty of old logging roads exist, not all of which are presented in the map. Mossy rocks may be slippery even when dry. Forbidden areas There are forbidden areas presented in purple in the map. Some of them are marked with ribbons in the terrain as well. In addition, private yards and fields are forbidden. Drinking points On Saturday, there is a drinking point on the courses starting from start 1 with the exception of classes H/D75-85 and Open B. The drinking point serves water. Competition material Control descriptions The control descriptions are printed in the map, also separate control descriptions are available at the start. There are no attachment accessories available. For clarity, control codes are not printed in the map next to the control number. RR courses have no control descriptions. Map The competitor is responsible for taking a map of the correct class. Number bibs Number bibs are used in all classes. The numbers are available in the competition centre. No attachment accessories are provided, that is, bring your own safety pins. The number is the same on both days, except for those who compete in different classes on Saturday and Sunday. Emit backup slips Backup slips for Emit cards are available in starting areas. It is recommended that everyone write his or her Emit card number on the slip before start. Emit cards Verifying Emit number Verify your Emit card number from the list on the bulletin board or info. A wrong Emit card must be changed at info before going to the start. Starting with a wrong card leads to disqualification. Emit rental The organizer has reserved a rental card to those who have not given their Emit numbers upon registration. The rental should be picked from the info desk for 3 per day. The rental card must returned to info on both days immediately after finish. 60 will be charged for lost cards.
Checking Emit card The competitor is responsible for the functioning of his or her card. You should check that your Emit card works at the model control next to the sign pole. If the light in the receiver unit blinks, your card works. If your card does not work, get a new one from info. Start There are no toilets in the starting areas. Each start will be closed 10 min after last starting time, or after all H/D21AL competitors have started (from start 1). Start 1 Competitors will be called to the start box 4 min before start, excluding H/D21AL. After that, start officials will guide you up to the starting moment. The map is on view in the start box. Emit numbers are not checked. Start 2 Competitors will be called to the start box 5 min before start. After that, start officials will guide you up to the starting moment. The map is on view in the start box. Emit numbers are checked. Special instructions for children s classes are given later in this document. H/D21AL free start times Competitors of these classes may choose their start times, starting from on Saturday and on Sunday. The start area should be entered no later than 20 min before the last starting time. Start permission will be given by the officials at even minutes. Timing starts from Emit card reset, more accurately from removing the card from the reset unit. Starting times Starting times (excluding H/D21AL) will be on view on the bulletin board, info desk, start area and Koovee web pages. Distance to start Start 1: 1900 m Start 2: 200 m Starting places are the same on both days. The marked routes to the starts start from the sign pole. Controls There is a model control in the competition centre. RR model control is at the starting place. There are control points close to each other in the terrain, so check the code properly. A punching made at a wrong control can be fixed by punching at the correct control. The controls have to be visited in numerical order. Some children s courses have common controls with adults courses. Adults are requested to take children into account at the control.
Last control The last control has several punching devices. The control has both RR control code and a number code. Both are accepted. Finish The same finish line is for all classes. Punching at the finish line stops the timing. Next, the competitor moves to Emit data reading point unit where the card is read for the results system. The competitor may keep his or her map but not show it to another competitor who has not started. Drop-out competitors must report at finish or info desk. The finish will closed at on Saturday and on Sunday. Prizes Results of the sprint competition on Friday are not summed to the results of Saturday and Sunday. In classes H/D21A and H/D10-14, prizes will be given on Saturday and Sunday separately. A prizegiving ceremony will be arranged. In other classes, results are summed and prizes will be given according to the overall results. The competitors entitled to prizes may pick their prizes from the prize desk as soon as the results of the class are confirmed. The schedule of prize-giving and the amount of prizes will be announced on the bulletin board. In H/D10RR and H/D10RRS, all participants will be given prizes. If participants of classes H/D21AL cannot wait for the final results on Sunday, it is possible to request mailing of the prizes. Contact info desk in the centre or info.koovee.suunnistus@gmail.com afterwards. Competition centre First aid There is a first aid point in the competition centre. Changing rooms and showers Indoors. Toilets There are toilets in the competition centre but not in the starting areas. Restaurant There is a restaurant and a pop-up café in the competition centre. The café serves coffee, bakery, sausages, pancakes etc. The lunch menu served by the restaurant is announced in Finnish in a bulletin on Koovee web pages.
Childcare Childcare (look for the Finnish word muksula ) is available in the centre. An adventure course 2 per day, prizes to all participants. Waste disposal There are waste disposal points in the competition centre. Do not litter! Special instructions for children s classes These instructions apply to H/D10RRS, H/D10RR, H/D12TR, H/D12, H/D13 and H/D14. Start 5 min before start competitors are called to the guiding point, where the map with starting point is on view. RR and TR competitors see their entire courses. Instructors help, if needed. 4 min before start competitors move to the start box, where Emit number is verified. 3 min before start Emit cards are reset. 2 min before start competitors of RR classes receive guidance. The instructor shows the starting point on map, turns the map to the correct orientation, and shows the beginning of the marked route. Other classes may look at the map. 1 min before start competitors may take their maps and look at the course. The start line is the K-point, that is, the triangle on the map. Marked routes The routes of H/D10RR and H/D12TR are marked with a continuous white ribbon. Controls and control descriptions RR courses do not have control descriptions. In all other classes, the descriptions are printed in the map, also separate control descriptions are available at the start. There are no attachment accessories available. All controls have Emit punching. RR controls have codes RR1, RR2, RR3 etc. Other classes (including TR) have normal number codes. Finish Children s courses end at the same finish with other classes. Terrain The runnability of the terrain is good along the best route choices. Yet some harder areas exist because the area available for children s courses is fairly narrow. The terrain is fragmented by fields, waters and roads.
Forbidden areas There are forbidden areas presented in purple in the map. In addition, private yards and fields are forbidden. Open course orienteering Open courses Kunto A and Kunto B on both days. Fee 9 per day in cash only. Register to open course at info desk, and you will receive a ticket. In start 1, you will be given a map for the ticket. The starting interval to open course is on Saturday and on Sunday. The Emit card used by an open course orienteer must not be used in the competition on the same day. Rental cards are available from info. Open course orienteers cross the same finish line as competitors. Drop-out orienteers must report at finish or info desk. Good luck to the competition! Koovee
