5 Who is the AIMS BEST MARATHON RUNNER? One Male & One Female Marathon Athlete who have, from 01 October until 30 September of each year: (the criteria below are not in priority order) Achieved a World Record or/and Achieved the Best Time of the Year or/and Won a Gold Medal in the Olympic Marathon, or IAAF World Championships Marathon or/and Won one or more prestigious Marathon Races or/and Has shown personal qualities that make them role models for the youth (e.g. length of career, good character, social initiatives, etc.)

6 How the AIMS BEST MARATHON RUNNER is selected & Who is selecting him/her? The 420+ AIMS Members-Race Organizers Vote for the Best Marathon Runner of the Year, every October The candidates for the Prizes are 1 or 2 or 3 Male and 1 or 2 or 3 Female Athletes The year is defined from October 1 st until September 30 th of next year The candidates are nominated by the AIMS Athletes Nomination Committee, every Sept. 29 th The result of the voting is secret and the Best Marathon Runner is announced during the Awards Gala Prize Awards are given to all candidates, with the biggest one going to the Best Marathon Runner of the year
