1 Bruges O-weekend 2&3 june 2012 Bulletin 2 (final details) Introduction The countdown for the first Bruges City-orienteering has begun. A total of 425 runners of which 90 foreigners have already registered in advance. The maps have been drawn, the courses are set. As a reminder, there are three different races, each race has a seperate ranking. There are no starting times. We plan to start every minute. The City of Bruges provides the prizes for the sunday race, the Club Hamok provides the prizes for each winner of the sprints. These prices are unique. It really is worth the effort. So go on and do the best you can and maybe you will go home with a collector s item. Overview Saterday morning 2nd of June: sprint in Veltembos and kazerne LTZ Billet. Saterday evening 2nd of June: sprint + recreational orienteering on the campus Ter Groene Poorte. Sunday morning 3rd June: City-orienteering in the historical centre of Bruges. Locations

2 How to get there and parking We strongly recommend to use the car park near the main entrance of the rallway station. It costs 3,5 euro for a day. A free trip by bus to the city center for everyone in the car is included in this price. All you need to do is show your parking ticket when you get on the bus. Pay attention, this does not apply for the trip to the first sprint because the destination is Sint-Kruis (and not the city center). In the city of Bruges you can park for a maximum of 4 hours in the blue area with a parking card. Some places in the city have parking meters where you have to pay and there you can only stay for 2 hours. This is checked frequently. The parking capacity at the CC is limited. There are possibilities in the nereby streets. Sprint 1 is easily accesable by public transport. To do so you have to take the bus line 10 (one each 20 mins) and then get off at watertoren (just past the Mac Donalds). From there on you can follow the ribbons and signs to the Competition Centre. The second sprint is on a 5 mins walking distance from Bruges railway station. The CC of the City Oriënteering on Sunday is on a walking distance of mins from Bruges railway station. Registration The advance entries have been closes. Eventhough it is still possible to register for the course of the day itself. (limited courses). The registration fee remains the same, but you do not receive a small souvenir. For the race on Sunday there are prizes for the first three competitors of every class.

Recommandation: if you come by car we advise you to take exit 9 of the E40 (Oostende-Brussel) instead of the exit Bruges.

3 Sprint on Veltem (Saterday morning 2nd of June 2012) Competition Centre is in Kwartier LUITENANT-TER-ZEE Victor BILLET ( L. De Bruynestraat 125, 8310 Brugge St-Kruis) Roadmarks will be visible from the crossing of the ringroad of Bruges (Buiten Kazernevest) en de N9 (Maalsesteenweg) Recommandation: if you come by car we advise you to take exit 9 of the E40 (Oostende-Brussel) instead of the exit Bruges. When you take exit 9 you have to follow the direction of Bruges. Then you come onto the ringroad of Bruges and you follow the northbound direction. This will take you to the crossing, as mentionned above. Parking capacity: 75 cars and possible to park in the nearby streets as indicated

We ask you to follow the ribbons, please DO NOT enter or cross the parking grounds of the supermarket Delhaize, this to avoid accidents. The recreational orienteering: For this part, organised by the club epos, there will be a seperate registration point, where you can get your entry for the different activities. If you haven t enterred yet, you can still do so obn the day itself. Details will be available at the registration point. Starting these activities will be possible from 6.30 pm onwards. We advise you to start with the biathlon because this ends at 7.45 pm. The other activities stay open till late in the evening.

Deviations are not allowed, the whole city center is competition zone. Runners who have a lodging in the city centre are asked to take the shortest route to the CC or to the start. Pay attention, you always have go to the CC when you have finished your race in order to have your results taken and for us to be sure that all competitors have returned. It is on the same map as the other competitors, there also is a course printed on the map and the controls have to be taken. On each control you have to find the correct detail that belongs to that place. The GPS coordinates of the controls will be marked at the back of the map.. Distances:: 2,5 km red line distance (3,5 Km walking distance or about 1 to 1Hr15 mins) and 5,5 km red line distance (7 Km walking distance or 2 to 2Hr30 mins). You can still register the day itself for the courses 8 up untill 13. Special course for small children: only on Sunday and registration at the day itself (distance about 1 km, and in the surroundings of the CC) Refreshment point: according to the weather an additional refreshment point will be provided on the market square. At the finish a cup of water will be provided. Assembly complex and registration: This will be open 1 hour before the beginning of the each race. Saterday morning from 9 am. Saterday evening from 5 pm. Sunday from from 9 am. If you have already pre-enterred, then you only have to register once at the first CC. There you will receive all back-up labels and if payment still has to be made, you can do so. You need to put the back-up label on your emit, it is the proof of payment and the guarantee that you receive the right course at the start. Starting times will not be marked on the labels as the start is free. If you haven t enterred yet, then you have to do so for every race in the adequate CC.

Reminder: All pre-registered competitors receive one extra back-up label with the text surprise. With this label you can collect your souvenir at the special desk on Sunday.

Toilets: There are toilets at all CC s. There are no toilets at both the sprint starts!!! For the race on Sunday you receive one self-adhesive label with the logo of the event. You have to wear this visible on your clothing. This means you can go to the toilet free of charge in the Halletoren on the market square (about 50 meters from the start).you will receive this label at the registration desk. Time pre-recording: Electronic recording with the Emit system. An individual Emit can be rented for all races: 2, M/W-20+; 1 M/W-18-; guarantee-fee: 40 Control descriptions: There are NO control descriptions on the maps. The control discriptions will be available at the start. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each class for the sprints of Saturday and for the first three competitors of each class of the City orienteering on Sunday. These Prizes will be handed out on Sunday at +/- 14 pm.
