Contact John Harding or by at hackettrunner at hotmail dot com Race day program & events contested 11am Race check in and registration opens 12pm ACT Women s and Junior Men s 8km Championship: out 1km, back 1km, 6kms to summit 12.15pm All comers and Junior women s 6kms uphill to the summit 12.30pm ACT Men s 11 kms: 2.5 kms out, 2.5kms back, 6 kms up to the summit. 3pm Presentation of awards at car parking area All competitors finishing at the summit are responsible for making their own way back down the mountain, unless injured, after completing their event. Pre-race check in All competitors must check in and receive their race number at least 20 minutes before the start time for their races. The start is 450m from the car parking area. How to get there on race day See the course map. The race venue is a 20 minute drive south of Tharwa via Naas and Apollo Roads. After Tharwa continue south until the right hand turn onto Apollo Road. The turn-off to the right onto the Mt Tennent fire trail will be clearly sign-posted after another 4.5kms. Please take care turning right as the turn-off is on a bend. Please keep the gate closed. After 500m, you will turn left onto a farm track and into a paddock for parking. Access on other days For runners wishing to train over the course, please drive a further 450m along Apollo Road and park at the bushwalkers car parking area on the right hand side of the road. Then jog 1km back down the road and along the Mt Tennent fire trail to the Namadgi National Park entrance gate. The race start is a further 100m. Race refreshment stations Water and Gatorade will be available at the start area, at the 2.5k point up the mountain and at the summit. Awards will given to the following categories first three finishers in each of the open men s 11 kms, open women s 8 kms, junior men s 8 kms and junior women s 6 kms. All comers 6 km: first three male and female finishers. Random barrel draw prizes from all finishers apart from those who have already won an award. Must be present when the draws are made in order to win. Age restriction The World Mountain Running Association in 2003 introduced the following rule which shall be followed for the ACT and Australian Championships: 3.7 Competition in WMRA Junior races (male and female) is limited to those aged 16, 17, 18 and 19 years on the 31st December in the year of the competition. Entry fees for ACT Championships: Australian Mountain Running Association members: Seniors: $22 by 13 April; $30 after 13 April. Juniors: $15 by 13 April; $20 after 13 April. Non members: Seniors: $27 by 13 April; $35 after 13 April. Juniors: $20 by 13 April; $25 after 13 April. Please enter online. For late entries on the day, pay cash. 2

Recommended footwear The course includes some quite steep sections. Studded trail running shoes or other shoes with good grip are essential. Inclement weather In the event of very heavy rain during the last few days before the race, or on race day, making the trail undriveable, the race may be cancelled or moved to an alternate venue. A notice will be placed on and pre-entrants ed, if this occurs. Risk Statement In entering this mountain running event you should recognise that mountain running and walking is a recreational activity that may involve a small risk of physical harm. Included in these risks are injury due to: steep or rough terrain and obstacles; the effects of heat, cold or other adverse weather conditions; dehydration or over-hydration. You should be aware that there is no personal accident insurance on your participation and you participate at your own risk.
