1 COMPETITOR INFORMATION GUIDE MARCH 2016 XOSIZE Events welcomes you to the Warrnambool Sufferfest Multisport Festival. Our aim is for you to have a safe and enjoyable race, while experiencing an array of events over the course of the weekend. This document includes important competitor, race and course information and it is the competitor s responsibility to read this information prior to race day. 2 WELCOME TO WARRNAMBOOL SUFFERFEST 2016! Welcome to the fourth running of the Warrnambool Sufferfest! As new event organiser for the event in conjunction with the Warrnambool Triathlon Club, we are excited to bring about some changes and additions to this years weekend festival including additional events, challenges and more. It is going to be a fantastic weekend of racing, with events for the whole family to get involved in on Saturday and the marquee event the Warrnambool Sufferfest Long Course on Sunday. We re also seeing the addition of the popular Sprint and Olympic Distance racing, so it s going to be a jam packed weekend! To make the most of your Sufferfest experience, ensure you read all details included in this Competitor Information Guide carefully, as it should answer any questions you may have about the event. 5 GENERAL INFORMATION TRAVEL AND PARKING Please ensure you plan your travel and arrival accordingly to allow sufficient time to park and prepare for your race. We ask for competitors and spectators to be considerate of locals and residents in the area as you arrive early for your event. There will be car parking available for competitors along Logans Beach Road, HOWEVER please note that vehicles will be unable to exit this area until after the completion of the event and the re-opening of Blue Hole Road and Hopkins Point Road at approximately midday. Alternatively, we suggest that spectators park along Hickford Parade on the western side of the Hopkins River. Parking on Hopkins Point Road is strictly prohibited as it may cause unnecessary hazards on the bike course. Any vehicles parked on the course will be towed. Ensure you adhere to all council parking signs and restrictions to avoid any unnecessary parking infringements. GENERAL RACE RULES It is the competitor s responsibility to know all aspects of the swim, bike and run courses. Competitors are expected to follow the directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities. Medical personnel have final authority to remove an competitor from the race if the competitor is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the race without risk of serious injury or death. Medical transport of any competitor will result in the competitor being classified as Did Not Finish (DNF). Fraud, theft, abusive treatment of volunteers or others and acts of poor sportsmanship are grounds for immediate disqualification. The Race Director has final authority on any disqualifications of this manner. BAG COMPOUND / BAG DROP A bag compound will be available to all competitors located inside the transition area. Competitors must clearly mark their own bag with their race number. Please DO NOT leave any valuables in the bag compound. It is the competitors responsibility to collect their bag prior to 3pm on race day. PRE & POST RACE DINNERS The Cally Hotel have your pre race and/or post race lunch/dinner sorted with a special athlete menu being served. You can also choose from their extensive menu to suit your needs. AFTER PARTY The After Party will commence at 3pm on Sunday 20th March at The Cally Hotel with live entertainment, so make sure you stay around and celebrate with us post event! POST RACE SHOWERS! Now this one has to be a winner! Come back for a freshen up post race. Simply show your wrist band and The Cally Hotel will open their doors to athletes to use their showers for FREE. Stay for a quick drink and feed as a thank you before heading home. TOILETS Public toilet blocks and portable toilets will be located: Public Toilets: In the park near transition. On the run course, they will be located in the Warrnambool Lifesaving Club approx. 3.5km into the run course. Portable Toilets: Are located in/near the transition area. FIRST AID / MEDICAL will be located at the finish line, and roving on the course. If you require first aid assistance on the course, please notify an aid station attendant or course marshal who will be able to radio for assistance. 5 P a g e Warrnambool Sufferfest Multisport Festival
6 RUNNING EVENTS PRE RACE INFORMATION EVENT DAY TIME TABLE Event Day: Saturday 19 March 2016 All Distances will Start/Finish from Bluehole Road, Warrnambool (venue site) am Registration for running events 9.00am Half Marathon Race Start (2 laps) 9.20am 10kmFun Run/Walk Race Start 9.30am 5km Fun Run/Walk Race Start 10:30am Presentations (approx.) Race briefing will commence 5mins prior to starting time for each event near the start line. It is the participant s responsibility to attend the individual race briefing to ensure they are aware of any safety information or any changes. TIMING & BIB/RACE NUMBER COLLECTION Each competitor will be given a timing chip that they must wear on the ankle, along with their race number pinned onto their front chest or worn on a race belt. Your timing chip will record your time on the day. Ensure you cross the finish line timing mats to record your race time. Race Numbers will be required to be picked up between the following times: Friday 18 March pm, The Cally Hotel Saturday 19 March am, Race Venue Competitors can collect friends/family race pack if required. Please ensure you know the name, age category and race distance of the participant you are picking up for. LATE ENTRIES Online entries close 12noon Friday 18 March Limited late entries will be available at the venue during the following times: Friday 18 March pm, The Cally Hotel Saturday 19 March am, Race Venue CATEGORIES 21.1km Half Marathon Open (17-44) and Veteran ( 45+). 10km Fun Run/Walk Junior (age U16), Open (17-44) and Veteran ( 45+). 5km Fun Run/Walk Junior (age U16), Open (17-44) and Veteran ( 45+). FINISHERS MEDALS All competitors receive a commemorative medal after completing their race distance. AWARDS & PRESENTATIONS The top 3 finishers in each category (male & female) should attend the presentations. Presentations will be held at approximately 10.30am. Please ensure you are present to collect. CUT OFF TIMES All participants in all distances must cross the finish line no later than 12.30pm. All endeavours will be made to allow you to continue to the finish line if and when safe to do so. If you feel these cut off times could be a concern for you, please contact events@xosize.com.au. RUN RULES & PARTICIPANT EXPECTATION All competitors must wear a race bib number and must be clearly visible at all times. A shirt, singlet, racing top that covers the torso must be worn at all times. Participants must only discard any litter including bottles, cups or rubbish at designated aid stations. Non-participant runners or cyclists are not allowed on the course. This may include supporters, coaches, athletes who have withdrawn or been disqualified. Participants found not to have completed the entire run course will be disqualified. It is expected that all participants run a fair race taking into consideration those other participants around them. If a participant decides to withdraw from the race at any time, it is the responsibility of the participant to report to the drop out clerk at the information tent near the finish line and have their details recorded. It is essential that race officials know where participants are on the course at all times. AID STATIONS Will be located approximately 2.5km and 5km points on the run and will include Hammer Nutrition, water and coke. BAG COMPOUND / BAG DROP A bag compound will be available to all competitors located at the venue. Simply bring your bag to the bag drop area in the event village and we will provide you with an identification tage which will match your race number. Competitors must clearly mark their own bag with their race number. Please DO NOT leave any valuables in the bag compound as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables being lost or stolen. 7 finish down the finish chute. RUNNING EVENTS COURSE MAP RUN COURSE DETAILS The Start and Finish Line is along Bluehole Road the Venue. The 5km and 10km Fun Run/Walks will start near the finishing line and turn left into the running path that will lead you to the footpath along Marfell Road Bridge. At the end of the Bridge, take a left into Warrnambool Foreshore Promenade. COURSE CONTINGENCY XOSIZE EVENTS reserves the right to alter the course, start time and/or format without notice because of circumstances outside the control of the organiser and under the direction of sponsors, councils, police or other organisations that are associated with the event. The 21.1km event will start by heading up Logans Beach road for approximately 500m before turning around and heading directly across Bluehole Road into the running path that will lead you to the footpath along Marfell Road Bridge. At the end of the Bridge, take a left into Warrnambool Foreshore Promenade. From here, the start of the run is challenging. You go into a long hill (1km) that has a sharp incline at the top. When you reach the top, you then get a reprieve as you run down towards the beach. The entire run is on a concrete asphalt and some section have a board walk to run on. When you are along the ocean, the terrain is lightly undulated. The 5km Fun Run/Walk will turn at (2.5km mark) this will be clearly signed. The 10km and 21.1km Runs will turn around at the Pavillon near the breakwater (5km mark). The 5km and 10km events only complete 1 lap. 9 SATURDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS RACE INFORMATION SATURDAY 19 MARCH 2016 KIDSFEST & ALL ABILITIES Start Time: 12.00noon Race Distances 7-9 Years Old: 75m swim 3km Cycle and 500m Run Years Old: 150m swim 6km Cycle and 1km Run All Abilities: 75m swim 3km Cycle and 500m Run RACE INFORMATION All participants must ensure they have registered, checked in and placed bike and gear in transition no later than 11.45am Parents/ guardians are allowed to enter the transition area to assist with setting up bike/transition area. No bags are to be left in the transition area. Once the race has started, parents/guardians will not be allowed into the transition area until after the race has concluded. Marshals will be in the transition area to help any participants and provide direction as required during their race. Those in the all abilities race will be able to have a support person throughout the event. At 11.45am there will be a briefing for all participants will gather at the transition area and walk down to the swim start area for event race brief. Participants should follow instructions by the dedicated marshals and walk over to the swim start together for the race brief and be ready to start at 12.00noon. It is advised for parents to join their children over to the swim start area. ENTICERFEST TRIATHLON Start Time: 1.00pm Race Distance 150m swim 9km Cycle and 2.5km Run RACE INFORMATION All participants must ensure they have registered and check in no later than 12.45pm. No bags are to be left in the transition area. At 12.45pm there will be a briefing for all participants at the swim start area in then for a 1.00pm swim start. Participants shall follow instructions by the dedicated marshals throughout event. Marshals will be in the transition area to help any participants and provide direction as required during their race. ENTICERFEST RACE RULES Swim caps provided in race packs must be worn during the swim leg of the triathlon Race numbers must be written on the participants right arm and right thigh. Bikes must be road worthy with working brakes and in good working order Helmets must be worn during the bike leg Runners/shoes must be worn on the bike and run legs of the race. Wetsuits are optional. All other race rules apply as per the triathlon race rules included herein. 10 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS RACE INFORMATION SUNDAY 20 MARCH 2016 START TIMES 7.30am Long Course OPEN 7.35am Long Course AGE GROUP 7.37am Long Course TEAMS 8.30am Olympic Distance 9.30am Sprint Distance 8.30am (Ensure you read the Event Schedule for full timings and details including transition opening/closing times and more) WEATHER Warrnambool s average March temperature is approximately 21C, and we usually enjoy pleasant weather throughout the month. However the weather is the one factor we cannot influence and our city isn t known as Windy Warrnambool for nothing! Consider yourself warned. TRAINING ON COURSE Please feel free to swim, ride and run on the Sufferfest course prior to the event. However, please note that if cycling on the course, normal road rules apply and we ask that you please be courteous to other road users and residents of the area at all times. WHEEL SETS & WINDS Under Triathlon Australia rules, disc wheels can be used on the rear wheel in this race. However, Windy Warrnambool doesn t carrier that moniker without good reason. Autumn in the South West of Victoria is one of the windiest periods of the year, and the month of March carries a 50% chance that we will experience strong winds at some stage during the day. For this reason we strongly recommend you pay careful attention when selecting which wheels you will use on race day. We will keep you updated via and social media leading into the race on pending weather forecasts. COURSE DETAILS The course will be clearly marked. Failure to follow the designated course or instructions from course officials may result in personal injury and/or disqualification from the race. Race organisers accept no responsibility for persons not adhering to these rules. There is specific information provided on each leg in this booklet. TECHNICAL RULES Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules will be enforced in this event. It is the responsibility of all competitors to ensure that they have read and understood the rules prior to entry to this event. echnical.htm TRIATHLON AUSTRALIA MEMBERSHIP Every competitor is required to hold a valid Triathlon Australia Membership OR one day race licence membership to participate COMPETITOR CHECK IN & RACE PACK COLLECTION We highly encourage all competitors to check bikes in on Saturday (although not compulsory). This will make your Sunday Morning check in easier. There are NO numbered bike racks, so this also enable you choose where you would like to position your bike in transition on a first in first served basis. If you are unable to check in on Saturday, they can check in during the nominated times on Sunday. Please ensure you know your check-in days/times. There is overnight security for the transition area. It is compulsory for all competitors to check in during the nominated Competitor Check-in times. Please see the Event Schedule for Check in days/times. NO competitor packs will be sent in the mail. Competitors will be required to bring their Triathlon Australia Membership Card or printed confirmation if your card has not arrived, and a Photo ID to present at Competitor Check in. If you purchased a one day race licence membership will just require your photo ID. TEAMS CHECK IN Only one team member is required to check-in; however they must ensure that all team member information is correct and up-to-date at check-in. Photo ID and Triathlon Australia Membership or one day race licence must also be provided. Please note: It is illegal for another competitor to race under someone else s name. Penalties include suspension from your Triathlon Australia Membership and disqualification from the event. WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE AT CHECK-IN Competitor ID wristband Race Bib compulsory on the bike AND run Swim Cap Helmet Sticker placed on front of helmet Bike Sticker visable from front of bike Timing chip COMPETITOR ID WRISTBAND Must be worn at all times after receiving at check in and will allow you access to competitor only areas including transition and finishing line. TIMING AND TIMING CHIPS Please ensure you bring your timing chip with you on race morning. 11 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS RACE INFORMATION If you do not start or finish the race, you must return your chip to the Information Tent. If your timing chip is not returned or is lost you will incur a $60 charge for a replacement. It is important that all timing chips are either returned and/or recorded to ensure all competitors are accounted for. BIKE CHECK-IN Once you have received your Competitor Race Pack, it is compulsory for all competitors to check their bike in during the nominated Bike Check-in times. Your bike must display your bike sticker, and you must wear your Competitor ID wristband both provided in your Race Pack. If you do not have either of these you will not be allowed into transition. Please see the Event Schedule for Bike Check in times. Please ensure you allow enough time to rack your bike during these times. Marshalls will be available to answer any questions at the transition area. TRANSITION AREA Will be located on the corner of Bluehole Road and Logans Beach Road. Bikes CAN be racked the Saturday and it is highly encouraged. Please ensure you read the Event Schedule for Bike Racking times. Security will patrol the Transition and Village Areas on Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Further details in regards to the transition area are included in the Transition Section of this Guide. PRE RACE TRAINING SESSION Geelong Performance Coaching will be holding a Pre Race session on Saturday for those racing Sunday. (see Event Guide for start time) Bring all swim, bike, run gear for the pre-race session. Session will include 40min cycle, 20min run + 10min swim. Meet in the transition area. Join for all or some. TRANSITION TOUR Geelong Performance Coaching will then conduct a Transition Tour that will take approximately 30min and will include a race overview, transition walk through, swim, bike and run course details. Neither of these are compulsory, but highly recommended. BIKE AND HELMET CHECKS All competitors are responsible for their bikes and helmets being in a safe working order. We recommend that competitors have their bikes serviced prior to racing. Triathlon Australia Officials will inspect each competitor s bike as they enter the Transition Area for bike racking. Checks will include ensuring: Tyres are in reasonable condition Bike has at least one bottle cage End plugs are on handle bars Brakes in working order Compliance with Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules HELMETS are compulsory and must also be worn as you enter the transition area on race day. Please ensure you have your helmet on and secured as you approach the transition area to avoid delays. Helmets are to meet the following criteria: Must be approved by a recognised testing authority (e.g. Australian Standards Certified). No alterations to any part of the helmet are allowed. Present no physical damage BIKE MECHANICAL SUPPORT There will be limited bike mechanical support available to competitors. It is expected that all competitors carry their own bike repair kit supplies on race day as there will be no bike mechanics out on course. It is recommended that all competitors have their bikes serviced and checked over by a qualified mechanic prior to race day. MEDICAL INFORMATION & INSURANCE We recommend that you take out your own personal medical insurance for racing and all competitors should have ambulance cover. If you do have an accident you must pay for your own medical expenses. Therefore it is essential for you to obtain adequate personal medical insurance/cover. PRE RACE BRIEFINGS It is compulsory for all competitors to attend one of our Pre-Race Briefing which will be held on SATURDAY. Please check the Event Schedule for Pre-Race Briefing times. It is the Competitors responsibility to attend a pre-race briefing. 12 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS RACE INFORMATION RACE MORNING Competitors will be able to place any items into the transition area the morning of the race including nutrition, hydration and any other relevant equipment. You must place your gear on the RIGHT HAND side of your bike. Please check the Event Schedule for Transition opening and closing times on race morning. Please ensure you have your helmet on and secured (with helmet number on the front) as you approach the transition area to avoid delays. You must also wear your corresponding numbered Competitor ID Wristband, if you do not have either you will not be allowed into transition. COMPETITOR RACE DAY CHECK LIST A brief check list to help ensure you don t forget anything on race morning SWIM Swim cap supplied in your race pack Timing Chip Wetsuit Goggles BIKE Bike (already in transition day prior) Helmet with helmet sticker on front Bike computer/watch Bike shoes Sunglasses Nutrition / Hydration / bottles Race bib (compulsory for bike & run) RUN Running shoes Sunglasses Hat OTHER Transition towel/matt Race belt Lubricant/baby powder, sunscreen Gear Bag, containing any post-race requirements such as warm clothes AID STATIONS BIKE AID STATION A bike aid station with water and Hammer Nutrition will be available to you on each lap as you head back towards transition. The bike aid station lay out will be: Bottle/rubbish drop > Water > Hammer Electrolyte > Back Up > Bottle/Rubbish Drop Competitors please note: You should slow down when entering the Bike Aid Station but do not stop. If you need to stop at an aid station, proceed all the way through the station and stop on the far side where it is safe to do so. If you do not require any product or support at the bike aid station, please stay to the right. You must discard bottles/rubbish in the designated area otherwise you may incur a littering infringement. Every competitor is required to start the race with a minimum of two bottles of hydration for the long course event, and a minimum of 1 bottle of hydration for the SprintFest and OlyFest. RUN AID STATION There will be 2 aid stations on the run course located at approximately 2.5km mark, 5km mark, as well as near transition. These aid stations will be passed on each lap. The run aid stations will provide: - Water - Hammer Electrolyte - Hammer Gels - Flat Coke - Lollies - Sunscreen (transition aid station only) - Vaseline (transition aid station only) The run aid station lay out will be: Rubbish drop > Water > Hammer Electrolyte > Coke > Food > Back Up > Rubbish drop RECOVERY AREA Is located at the finish line and will include: - Water - Hammer Electrolyte - Fruit CUT OFF TIMES (subject to change) All competitors must be finished by 3pm Swim Cut Off: 1hour Competitors must complete the swim leg within 1hour. Bike Cut Off: Competitors must complete the swim and bike leg to the bike turn around on Tooram Road by no later than 11.30am. The Event Organisers reserve the right to remove any participant who is unable to complete by the bike cut off time and will be unable to continue on in the race. 13 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS THE COURSE ROCKET SCEINCE SPORTS SWIM LEG The swim will be conducted in the Hopkins River as a mass beach start swim. Take a right at the first buoy and swim to the bridge and back. It is a two lap course for Sufferfest and OlyFest, just 1 lap for the SprintFest (see map below), so take a right turn at the last buoy near the water exit and do another lap. Keep all the buoys on your right apart from the last one at the water exit on your second lap. Turn around it keeping it on your left as you head towards the swim finish. Please be aware that the edges of the river are quite shallow, but then drop off into a central channel. The shallows on either side of the channel can be used as a resting point, but walking in the shallows is not permitted and WILL result in disqualification. A water safety team will be patrolling the river throughout the swim leg. If you experience any difficulties, please raise your arm to indicate to the water safety team that you require assistance. 14 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS THE COURSE BIKE LEG This is a non-drafting race for Sufferfest, OlyFest and SprintFest Distance. Drafting, penalties and other race competition rules can be found at There will be two-way cycle traffic on the entire course. Road closures will be in place, however competitors should note that the occasional vehicle on the course will be unavoidable caution and due care should be exercised at all times. SprintFest competitors will complete 1 lap of the 20km course, Olyfest competitors will complete two laps of the course; Sufferfest competitors will complete four laps. Normal road rules apply. It is up to the individual competitors to ensure that they complete the required number of laps. It should be noted that this is a tough bike course there are two challenging hill climbs on each loop. HAZARDS Under Triathlon Australia rules, disc wheels can be used on the rear wheel in this race. However, competitors should note that Autumn in the South West of Victoria is one of the windiest periods of the year, and the month of March carries a 50% chance that we will experience strong winds at some stage during the day. For this reason the Sufferfest committee strongly recommends you pay careful attention when selecting which wheels you will use on race day. We will keep you updated via and social media leading into the race on pending weather forecasts. You should also note that Hopkins Point Road is a rural road. There may be loose stones and anomalies in the road surface and on the bridge crossin. During the decent of the main hill on the course there is the potential for strong cross winds, and there is one point in particular where cyclists will emerge from the protection of the tree line and can be caught off guard by strong gusts. Please be aware of these hazards and show caution at all times. EMERGENCY SERVICES Access will remain open for emergency services should an emergency arise (lights/sirens). Competitors should remain vigilant at all times. Normal road rules apply during such incidents where as you must give way to emergency vehicles. SAG WAGON SUPPORT The on course Sag Wagon will collect competitors who are unable to complete the event for any reason and/or are unable to finish within the bike course cut-off time. These competitors will be transported directly to the finish line/recovery area. Competitors should be aware that due to the nature of the course and event racing conditions, delays in Sag Wagon Transport are to be expected. Competitors are encouraged to start walking back towards transition should they require assistance please ensure it is safe to do so and remain off the bike course. 15 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS THE COURSE HAMMER NUTRITION RUN LEG The run leg will take competitors across the Hopkins River bridge, proceeding south through a vegetation area before bringing runners out onto Warrnambool s famous Foreshore Promenade. Runners will pass by notable landmarks such as Granny s Grave, the Flume surf beach and the Warrnambool Surf Lifesaving Club before a turnaround just short of the breakwater. SprintFest will compete one half lap (turn around 2.5km), Olyfest competitors will complete one lap of the 10km run; Sufferfest competitors will complete two laps; a total of 20km. There will be 2 run aid stations on the run course at approximately 2.5km from transtion, and at the far turnaround (approximately 5km). Water, Hammer Nutrition and flat coke will be available to you at each aid station on each lap. HAZARDS It is important to note that runners do not have exclusive use of the run course. There may be pedestrians on the promenade, particularly between the Surf Club and the turnaround point (near the pier). There are a series of chicanes on the run course that will need to be navigated, and there may be runners approaching from the opposite direction, so please display due care and caution. There are also some bollards in the centre of the promenade, particularly between the Surf Club and the turnaround point (near the pier), and there are a couple of areas (e.g. centre of the bridge) which are narrow. 17 SUNDAY TRIATHLON EVENTS THE COURSE TRANSITION T1 - Swim to Bike At the Swim Exit, you will head up the beach towards the transition area, in which you will pass over a timing mat. You will head into the transition area to your designated bike rack. You must then: Discard swim gear (ie swim cap, goggles, wetsuit) in your designated area. You must not touch or interfere with another competitor s equipment in transition. Helmets must be on and fastened before removing your bike from the rack. Your helmet must always remain securely fastened while you are in control of your bike this includes running to/from transition to the mount/dismount lines. You must not mount your bike until you pass the designated mounting line. T2 Bike to Run Competitors must dismount their bike before the designated dismount line. Competitors must leave helmet secured and fasted until the bike is racked. Competitors must rack their bike back in the same position after coming back from the cycle leg. Competitors must follow directions from marshals and TO s and/or signage in the transition area. TEAM TRANSITION All Team Competitors must have their Competitor ID Wristband on to access the transition area. Team swimmers shall not remove their timing chip until they reach their team cyclists in the transition area. The team cyclist must remain in their position in the transition area until the swimmer has handed over the timing chip and it has been securely attached to the LEFT ankle of the team cyclist. Once the team cyclist has completed the bike leg, they must rack their bike before the timing chip can be removed and handed to the team runner. Team runners must wait at the team cyclists bike rack position until this hand over occurs. NB: Team runners will only be able to access the transition area once all competitors have headed out on the bike course. All team members must also ensure that the transition area remains as clear as possible during the race to ensure the safety of all competitors. Swim and bike team members are allowed to run down the finishing shoot with their team runner to collect finisher s medal. 17 P a g e Warrnambool Sufferfest Multisport Festival
18 POST RACE INFORMATION RACE FINISH/RECOVERY AREA All finishers will receive a Finisher s medal upon crossing the finish line. Finisher s medals will also be awarded to each team member. It is encouraged for competitors to relax in the recovery area to refuel and rehydrate. Should you feel you require medical attention, please make yourself known to the medical team at the finishing line. BIKE COLLECTION Competitors will be advised when bikes can exit transition. You must be wearing your ID wristband to collect any bike or equipment from the Transition area. It is anticipated that transition will be open on Sunday for bike Check Out and gear collection from approx am to 3.00pm. Transition will become unsecure at 3.00pm.There will also be intermediate times before this for sprint distance athletes. Please ensure you listen to announcements on the day. The opening time will however be dependent on the time the last runner is out on course, and will be announced by commentators on the day. GEAR BAG COLLECTION All Gear Bags will be available for collection after the race in the recovery area up until 3.00pm. PROTESTS AND APPEALS Any competitor who wishes to submit a protest or appeal must do so in person to either the race director or race referee, both of whom can be contacted through officials at the Race Venue. Protests must be made within 30 minutes of the protester s finish time at the end of the race. Appeals must be submitted to the Technical Delegate within 30 minutes of the Race Referee's decision being formally advised. LOST PROPERTY Any personal items that are lost or misplaced, and handed in to race officials will be available for collection at the Information tent on the day or info@xosize.com.au post event with details of your lost property. If lost property is not able to be picked up from XOSIZE Events, cost to post the property will be at the competitor s expense. The race organiser does not take responsibility for lost property. VOLUNTEERS Our volunteers are a friendly bunch of triathlon supporters who have kindly donated their time to ensure the success of this event and the safety of our competitors. Please give them a shout-out and show your appreciation around the course whenever possible. And have a safe and enjoyable race! RACE PHOTOS Pic2Go Australia is our event photographer and will be providing all of your event photos in record time after the event! Even better, you won t need to pay an arm and a leg for the photos as you can receive all of your event photos for one very low set rate of $10 if you register for the Pic2Go service BEFORE the event. RESULTS Results will be online via warrnamboolmultisportfestival.com/results.html AWARDS PRESENTATIONS The top 3 finishers in each age group will be recognised and presented with an award. Ensure you are aware of the presentation times and you are present to accept your award. If you are not present, you may request for your award to be mail out. 19 CONTINGENCY PLANS A Contingency Committee has been established to consult, make decisions and manage the implementation of any contingency plan. The following individuals will sit on the committee: Race Director... XOSIZE Events Event Director... XOSIZE Events Technical Delegate... Triathlon Australia Race Referee... Triathlon Australia Medical Director... St Johns Police Representative... Victoria Police Water Safety... LSV The Contingency Committee will also consult with the coordinator of the Traffic Management Team if required. XOSIZE EVENTS reserves the right to alter the course, start time and/or race format without notice because of circumstances outside the control of the organiser and under the direction of sponsors, councils, police or other organisations that are associated with the event. The Contingency Committee will make their decision should conditions such as, but not limited to, extreme weather conditions either forecast or actual. The Contingency Committee may consider implementing one or more of the following strategies if deemed necessary in the interests of competitor safety: Shorten the distance of one or more of the legs Start the event earlier or later Deletion of a leg to allow for a Duathlon (extreme cold or dangerous water conditions) or Aquathlon (extreme heat) Cancel the event. If the Committee s decision at any time is to change the advertised event format, this will be advised to competitors on the day the decision is made, and subsequent days leading into the event.
