5 THERE ARE THREE DISCRETE CHALLENGES Boat OWNERS REGULARLY CHALLENGE THE VALUE OF YACHT OWNERSHIP Crew are hard to maintain, let alone find Admin & compliance is time consuming, repetitive and antiquated Boats are expensive and yet owners are the only ones investing in the sport Crew PEOPLE WANT TO SAIL MORE, BUT ENGAGEMENT & COMMITMENT IS LOW Want to belong and be missed But need simple, more immediate communication mobile event registration time, geo, boat & event relevant Lack of Crew mobility between boats between clubs cross-borders Clubs NEED HELP PROMOTING THEIR CORE CONTENT & REACHING MORE THAN JUST MEMBERS Have great content (events/location) but struggle to sell the message far enough Want improved participation & club attendance Want operational efficiency, less resourcing Seek reduced administrative burden for both club & boat

8 AUSTRALIAN SAILING CENSUS STATS In ,000 people were registered as participating in the sport BUT 50% of them sailed less than 3 TIMES A YEAR

9 ACQUISITION VERSUS RETENTION We are not as bad at bringing people to the sport as we think. we are simply not as good at converting or retaining them

10 THE TWIN PEAKS OF SAILING Why do we struggle to retain regular commitment between the ages of 18-35? Is it because these sailors are distracted? Busy looking for Knowledge, Love & Wealth!?! NO It is because we don t have products that meet their needs

11 THE FUTURE OF PARTICIPATING IN SAILING We need products that: Are sympathetic to the transient nature of the demographic and the needs of future sailors Promotes reciprocity between clubs Supports Crew Mobility Make people feel truly welcome, and Ensure participants, and the sport, are protected
