Please arrive by 7pm the evening before (exceptions possible on request). Any restaurant or Club meals need to be paid for additionally and this is usually the case for evening meals during courses. For courses/training of one day, please arrive by 9am unless advised otherwise. Please bring your own picnic lunch. Joining Instructions will be sent to all participants beforehand. 2 Terms & conditions of booking: A non-refundable deposit of 100 per course/training is required with this booking form, unless you are booking the half-day or spinnaker training in which case the full course amount is due. The balance of the course cost is payable at the latest 10 days before the start of the course. If you cancel 10 days or less prior to the course start date, you will still be required to pay the full amount if the is unable to fill your place with another participant. Bookings are only confirmed on receipt of the booking form and deposit. Please make a bank transfer (preferred) to RCPYC Ltd. Cheques are payable to RCPYC Ltd. You must be a member of the RCPYC please submit a membership application form to apply for 3 months temporary membership including a 35 fee. No extra fee required for half-day sailing. During the course/training, you are required to follow instructions from the person in charge of the boat at all times. The medical/emergency contact form should be submitted with the booking form. The course/training may be subject to postponement/delay due to weather conditions etc. Alternative arrangements will be agreed with participants. Insurance: Our policy provides full cover for our yachts and against accident, injury and third party liability. We recommend that you have your own insurance to cover you with respect to injury, personal liability and cancellation. 5 Come Try Yachting! 1 day This is a taster course for those interested in trying out some yachting. By the end of the day, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and be aware of safety on board. Participants can go on to do the RYA Start Yachting Course or RYA Competent Crew course with more confidence. This day can count towards the RYA Start Yachting Course. RYA Start Yachting: 2 days The RYA Start Yachting course is a short introduction to sailing for complete beginners over two days. By the end of the course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and be aware of safety on board. Holders of the RYA Start Yachting certificate can go on to complete the Competent Crew course in a reduced time of three or four days. RYA Competent Crew: 5 days The RYA Competent Crew Practical course is a five day course that aims to introduce the complete beginner to sailing and to teach personal safety, seamanship, and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of a crew of a cruising yacht. The five days can be taken over 2 weekends. RYA Day Skipper: 5 days The RYA Day Skipper Practical course is a five day course for aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills. Learn to skipper a short passage with the instructor on hand to give advice and encouragement. Experience being in charge, taking credit when it all goes well and being responsible when it doesn't. The five days can be taken over 2 weekends. RYA Day Skipper Theory or equivalent is required to take the RYA Day Skipper Practical. RYA Coastal Skipper: 5 days The RYA Coastal Skipper course offers advanced skippering techniques for yachtsmen and -women with considerable knowledge of sailing and navigation, wanting to undertake coastal passages by day and night. Five days are needed for this course. Mileage Builder Mileage Builders take place under the supervision of an RYA Instructor and will help develop your seamanship and helmsmanship, while building sea mileage. RYA Navigation Courses Navigation courses are essential for yachtsmen and women. The following courses are offered via the Sailing School: 2-day introductory RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course; 5-day RYA Day Skipper Theory (competency required for the RYA Day Skipper Practical); 6-day RYA Yachtmaster Theory (competency required for the RYA Coastal Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster Practical). It may be possible to offer a theory course before your practical course in a bespoke package for you. Please contact us for details.
