Purpose: To assist offshore skippers and crews in developing awareness of respective responsibilities. To offer and discuss practical strategies for coping with emergencies at sea. 20 AUSTRALIAN SHIPS REGISTRATION Option 1 AMSA Temporary Passes to unregistered Australian yachts participating in races between Australian ports and foreign ports Procedure Each yacht owner should make applications for two temporary passes: one for the outgoing voyage, another for the return. The applications and fees ($255 x 2) should be forwarded direct to the Shipping Registration Office The race organiser should arrange for the Australian Yachting Federation to provide a confirmatory letter to the Shipping Registration Office.

23 Notice of arrival back in Australia The Master of a vessel arriving in Australia is required by law to give notice of impending arrival not later than 96 hours before arrival. Penalties may apply for failure to do so. 24 Return to Australia - AQIS Vessel inspection On arrival at a first port of entry in Australia the vessel may be subject to a physical inspection by a quarantine officer. See website for further details

25 Cruising Application for Indonesian Territory (CAIT) All foreign yachts travelling into Indonesia MUST have a valid CAIT not be confused with a Surat Izin Berlayar (SIB) which is a port issued for larger vessels travelling from one Indonesian port to another. Permit for your YACHT to enter Indonesia for a fixed 3 month period, issued by the Indonesian Government. Lists all the people that may be on the boat coming into Bali, and anyone that may be joining you for the Rally or Return trip. CAIT Cost included in vessel registration fee Arranged by WIFB15 committee, BUT YOU MUST SUPPLY CORRECT & TIMELY INFORMATION NB visas can be shorter in duration Not less than 6 weeks to process after the application is made i.e. no late entries Changes are difficult and costly to process CAIT is NOT transferable, but can be extended (at a cost) It is NOT a VISA for either the captain or guests

28 Indonesian Visas Visa on arrival 30 days only. $35 AUD (under review and may not be required) Visa Social can be purchased from the Indonesian Consulate cost $60 AUD, lasts 60 days at a time and can be renewed 7 days before expiring for up to 6 months. For those choosing to Rally or travel through this is advisable just in case you have a major problem with your vessel.

31 Tax credit - diesel Since changes to legislation in 2006, diesel fuel exported in ships tanks is ineligible for duty Drawback. Australian Taxation Office can provide a Fuel Tax Credit. ATO indicated they will refund excise if you submit a claim with date of departure and receipts for fuel purchased within the last 30 days (including service station purchases)

34 Security - Indonesia Information available via the Australian Govt. Travel Websites. Take the usual general precautions (locking the boat, dinghy & outboard etc.) but in Indonesia most thieves are likely to be opportunistic rather than violent. Most cruisers visiting the country report having no real security or safety fears.

35 PIRACY There have been no reported piracy incidents anywhere in the proposed race rally area during 2013/14. However it does pay to be very aware of security when berthed or at anchor in both Indonesia and Australia

43 Benoa Harbour 8 44'28"S, '48"E - Benoa Harbour. Approach The Benoa harbor leads begin at the Sea Buoy at 8 45'14 S, '55 E. Follow the leads (just below a lone palm tree on the hill above) - on a course of 255True, past buoys #1 and #2 to the beginning of the dog-leg channel. Maintain a course close to the Red (left) side channel markers (stay clear of all Green markers). Continue 30 meters past the last Buoy #8 before turning North - (staying close to the main ship wharf - portside) - to the Marina, located at 8 44'28"S and '48"E. We do not recommend night time approaches without prior experience -- Very dim navigation lights against a bright background. We recommend a slack-tide arrival if possible.
