5 Installation Guide The following information offers guidance and advice for installing a pipe work system using >B< Push fittings. Please read all instructions and advice before commencing any work. i. It is recommended that where reference is made to other manufacturers materials, the appropriate manufacturer is consulted to ensure that the data is current and correct. ii. To ensure that there is no contamination to the O-ring it is recommended that the fitting stays in the packaging until it is fitted. iii. No heat should be applied near to the fitting to avoid damaging the O-ring. Therefore fittings must not be installed close to or on solder/braze fittings. Similarly where heat has previously been applied to tube, wait until cool and flushed to remove any debris/flux residues, before fitting. Joining Copper and Carbon Steel with >B<Push It is important that good pipe preparation is adhered to, to ensure that there is no damage to the O-ring and to make a perfect joint to guarantee true performance. 1. Ensure that the fitting is the right size for the tube. 2. Using a suitable tube cutter, (diag a) cut the tube end squarely. Ensure pipe end is round and free from any damage. A specific Carbon steel tube cutter must be used when cutting carbon tube. Please refer to the Conex website for full guidance details. 3. To prevent damage to the O-ring, it is essential that all burrs are removed and the outside Diameter of the tube is correctly chamfered (diag b). It is necessary to ensure that a full circumferential chamfer is applied. This process is greatly assisted by using the COAS Deburring tool. 4. Before re-use, ensure that the fitting has not been 4. Using a pen or pencil mark the length of pipe required to make damaged. >B<Push has been designed for the joint (diag c). This provides visual evidence that the pipe demounting and re-assembling to allow for system has been fully inserted. Do not score the tube. (Socket depths alteration. Tests show that it can be demounted and are given in Table A) iv. Fittings can t be installed within 1 metre of the boiler re-assembled up to 20 times providing that there is no on heating applications to copper tube or 1 metre 5. Without applying any pressure, locate the pipe end squarely damage to the fitting, particularly the O-ring seal and c 8 9 of applied external heat. >B<Push fittings must be removed if any work which includes heat is to be applied close to the fitting. v. Do not insert fingers into the fitting. vi. Not to be used on Gas applications. Table A: Fitting Size 12mm 15mm 16mm 18mm 20mm 22mm 25mm 26mm 28mm Insertion Depth Mark Insertion measurement 22mm 23mm 24mm 25mm 27mm 27mm 30mm 31mm 31mm Demounting Applies to all pipe types 1. Turn off any water supply 2. All of the fittings within the >B<Push range are designed to be reusable and, to prevent accidental disassembly, they can only be demounted with the purpose designed release tool. 3. When correctly located on to the tube, the curved projection of the tool self-aligns with the release sleeve of the fitting. Push the release tool against the sleeve, whilst maintaining force with the tool, either pull tube out of the fitting or pull the fitting away from the tube. Note: Do not attempt to dismantle the fitting prior to applying the force with the release tool. the grip ring. It is recommended that when a >B<push fitting has been demounted from a tube; the end of the tube is trimmed back to virgin tube before re-installing. Notes: a) When demounting fittings from MLP pipe the MLP insert will remain in the fitting. b) If a fitting is demounted from MLP pipe that has been installed and used, we recommend that; a new fitting and insert is used and the pipe cut back clear of the previous installation before re-using. within the mouth of the socket, touching the O-ring. Then push the tube firmly in to the fitting, through the Grip Ring and right up to the tube stop (diag d). A slight twisting action of the tube or the fitting often facilitates installation. Notes: a) When tube is inserted the marking on the tube should be just visible outside of the fitting collar. b) Gross misalignment could cause damage to the O-ring c) Additional lubrication to the tube will assist in difficult situations. Only WRAS approved silicone should be used. d) When using >B< Push to install soft copper tube a Conex Bänninger soft copper liner must be used. 6. Once tube is fully inserted, pull tube back from the joint to ensure that the grip ring is securely engaged. a b d e Installation demonstrations videos are also available on our website * Tube mark measurement for plastic tubes to include the head of the insert as shown. N.B. Measurements for Metal Tubes are taken from end of tube. When tube is inserted the marking on the tube should be outside of fitting

6 Joining PE-X and PB with >B<Push 1. Ensure that the fitting is the right size for the pipe. 2. Using a suitable pipe cutter cut the pipe end squarely. (Diag a). Ensure pipe end is round and free from any damage. Rotating the pipe as it is cut helps to minimise ovality. 3. Once the tube is cut it then must be calibrated, using a correctly sized calibration tool (Diag b). This applies a chamfer to both the internal & external edges, removing all burrs and sharp edges to protect the O-ring. It is necessary to ensure that a full circumferential chamfer is applied. 4. Locate a pipe liner in the end of the pipe (Diag c). A liner is necessary to; support the pipe, help re-round the pipe and facilitate pipe entry in to the fitting. It is permissible to use either the pipe manufacturer s liner or the Conex tube liner. (Refer to table B) 5. Using a pen or pencil, mark the length of pipe required to make the joint from the front of the liner (Diag d). This provides visual evidence that the pipe has been fully inserted. Do not score the pipe. (Socket depths are given in Table A) 6. Without applying any pressure, locate the pipe end squarely within the mouth of the socket, touching the O-ring. Then push 10 the pipe firmly in to the fitting, through the Grip Ring and right up 11 to the pipe stop (Diag e). A slight twisting action of the tube or the fitting often facilitates installation. Notes: a) Gross misalignment could cause damage to the O-ring. b) Additional lubrication to the tube will assist in difficult situations. Only WRAS approved silicone should be used. 7.
