3 Predilution chamber DESIGN 1 Predilution chamber 1.1 Design A predilution chamber is optionally available for certain analyzers of Endress+Hauser Conducta GmbH& Co.KG, Division STIP. The chamber is mounted between the pipes of either of the sample processors PA-2 or PA-3. Utilisation of a predilution chamber enables the sample stream to be diluted at a constant rate between 1:3 and 1:100. In order to operate the chamber, a fresh water supply with a stable pressure from between 3 and 10 bar needs to be installed next to the analyzer. The predilution chamber consists of three components: pressure regulator (1) predilution chamber (2) double peristaltic pump head (3) MV1 P1 MV3 MO MV2 MS P3 H3 PTFE P2 H1 MV4 H2 PA MAO Standard 1 Standard 2 Reagenz Reaktionslösung The predilution chamber (1) is formed from a rectangle plexiglass body (8 x 5.50 x 5.50 cm) Set into the chamber are: water inlet (3), sample inlet (9), sample outlet (14), sample overflow (10) and an injection cartridge screwed into the chamber (2) with a screwed-on dosage needle (8). 4 FUNCTION Predilution chamber 1.2 Function The sample is fed continuously into the chamber by the pump P1. At the same time, dilution water is injected into the fresh sample via the dosage needle. The diluted sample is then sucked out of the chamber by the double tube bed mounted on pump P1, and fed into the measuring chamber. Excess sample water is fed out of the predilution chamber and into the outlet via the sample overflow. Both stardard solutions and sample solutions (sample) can be diluted in this way. A constant rate of dilution is maintained throughout. The pressure regulator unit ensures that the water pressure at the water inlet to the chamber remains stable. The rate of dilution can be adjusted by varying the water pressure between 1.5 bar and 3 bar at the pressure regulator unit. The higher the pressure, the more dilution water is injected into the chamber. At a low pressure, less water is then injected in. 5 Predilution chamber CLEANING 1.4 Cleaning It is recommended to clean the predilution chamber should dirt accumulate there. A procedural cleaning once a month should never the less be carried out. In order to do this, access the service program of the measuring unit. Press: CLEANING - BYPASS SCREEN E CLEANING BYPASS-SCREEN IS CLEANING FINISHED?? This display shows that operation has been entirely shut down for the duration of the maintenance task. Carry out the cleaning. TO QUIT Confirm only after the entire maintenance is completed. Close the valve on the pressure regulator; Place a receptacle under the drainage valve and open this to empty the dilution chamber; Unscrew and remove the injection cartridge from the chamber; Unscrew the dosage needle from the injection cartridge; Clean both the cartridge and the dosage needle; change the needle, if necessary; Clean the O-ring, change it, if necessary; Clean the predilution chamber; Place the dosage needle onto the injection cartridge and screw on tightly by hand; Every two months, unscrew the special nipple (5) from the water inlet (3) and check, if the sintered metal disc (7) contained within it is free from dirt. Should it be necessary, clean the disc with diluted hydrochloric acid and insert it back into the nipple. Screw the injection cartridge complete with dosage needle tightly by hand back into the predilution chamber. Finally, close the drainage valve. Open the valve on the pressure regulator. Confirm completion now with the Enter-key. The analyzer returns to OPERATION in the first stage of a measuring cycle with PAUSE VALUE. Endress+Hauser page 3
