2 The goal of the Marion County Fire School is to provide quality training for Fire, Rescue, EMS, Emergency Management and Law Enforcement agencies from across the Commonwealth. Thru the joint efforts of our local emergency services, the City of Lebanon, Marion County Fiscal Court, the Lebanon Tourism Commission, the Kentucky Fire Commission, and State Fire Rescue Training, we are able to provide a wide variety of training opportunities, some of which we hope will be of interest to you. This is a FREE training, with no registration fees. We provide a free cookout on Saturday evening for everyone. The instructors for this year s program bring many years of experience and training to our school. We scheduled a return of popular classes and several hands-on courses required for certification. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. On-site registration and check in for classes will be held at Centre Square in Downtown Lebanon. Registration will open at 6:30am on both Saturday and Sunday. All classes are scheduled to run from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day. Plan now to attend this great training opportunity. FIREFIGHTER ID NUMBERS All certified firefighters must include your Firefighter Identification Number on the registration form, all others must use the last four digits of your Social Security Number. EMS personnel may use your Kentucky Certification Number. RULES AND REGULATIONS All applicable NFPA Standards will be strictly enforced. Courses requiring NFPA 1403 pre-requisites, or firefighter certification, require a signed approval form from the fire chief or training officer. Explorers and Jr. Firefighters must submit permission release form (back page). Explorers and Jr. Firefighters can only register for designated courses. Photo ID required: must be at least 18 years of age and a member of a Fire Department recognized by the Kentucky Fire Commission to participate in hands-on training. ID s will be checked before participating in skills training or testing. The ID must be a state issued picture ID. COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS College degree credit hours can be received for approved courses listed in the brochure, other courses are offered for non-degree credit. CERTIFICATE Certificates/training hours awarded at the completion of each course for the actual hours attended. Marion County Fire School Certificates will be awarded after completion and attending the entire course. No certificate is awarded for partial completion. You are responsible for entering training hours in the KY - FC records system. 4 101 Chaplains Training This course is designed to teach the layperson necessary skills to help fire departments in times of spiritual and emotional trauma or crisis. A discussion on suicide prevention for emergency responders is planned. Saturday and Sunday Prerequisites: None Equipment Requirements: None Instructor: Lebanon Fire Department 102 Firefighter Survival This course is designed to help firefighters save themselves when trapped or involved in an impending flashover. This course is required for Kentucky Firefighter Level 1 certification. Participant certificates are issued to firefighters that complete all required skills. Observer certificates are issued to those that attend lecture only. (FC10000) Saturday only Prerequisites: Competent and proficient in the use of PPE. Live Training Release Form must be signed the day of the class. Equipment Requirements: Full turnout gear. All turnout gear must be NFPA compliant; students will not be allowed to participate if the instructors find that the gear is not NFPA compliant or otherwise poses a hazard. 5 Marion County FS Registration 103 Firefighter Rescue DEPARTMENT NAME This course is designed to help firefighters save others when trapped or other wise unable to move out of danger. This course is required for Kentucky Firefighter Level 1 Certification. Participant certificates are issued to firefighters that complete all required skills, Observer certificates are issued to those that attend lecture only. (FC20000) Sunday only Prerequisites: Competent and proficient in the use of PPE. Live Training Release Form must be signed the day of the class. Equipment Requirements: Full turnout gear. All turnout gear must be NFPA compliant; students will not be allowed to participate if the instructors find that the gear is not NFPA compliant or otherwise poses a hazard. Instructor(s): SFRT Note: The Kentucky Fire Commission, State Fire Rescue Training, and The Marion County Fire School shall not be responsible for any damage that may occur to SCBA s or turnout gear during this training class. 104 EMS Continuing Education This course will provide 16 hours of Basic refresher training for both Emergency Medical Responders and EMT-Basics, which are required for the National Registry and KBEMS re-certification. 6 Sunday 105 Flashover Recognition This training class used a specially designed Flashover Chamber that allows the instructors to establish a flashover event in a controlled environment. Firefighters can see how a fire progresses to a flashover point and learn what they can do to combat the fire and protect their safety. Prerequisites: Completion of NFPA 1403 required components prior to enrolling; Live Fire Course Competency Validation form must be submitted with registration form. Any student with facial hair that impedes the seal of the face mask will not be allowed to participate in accordance with NFPA Standards. Live Fire Training Release must be signed the day of the class. Equipment Requirements: Full turnout gear and SCBA with PASS device and spare cylinder. All turnout gear must be NFPA compliant; students will not be allowed to participate if the instructors find that the gear is not NFPA compliant or otherwise poses a hazard. SCBA cylinders must have a current hydrostatic test date. 107 Pump Operations and Rural Water Supply Saturday and Sunday This class is an opportunity for students to practice basic skills in rural and municipal water supply and pump operations. Students will set up and supply standard attack and supply lines, and will develop proper fire flows from hydrant and portable tank supply. Prerequisites: Completion of Basic 20 hours. Equipment Requirements: Full turnout gear including goggles or safety glasses. Full protection will be worn at all positions on all evolutions involving charged hose-lines. Head, hand, and foot protection must be worn during all setup and tear down activities. 106 Confined Space Rescue Saturday & Sunday This course will cover 29CFR (Permit Required Confined Spaces) and NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescuer, 2008 Edition. The class will work its way through the equipment and procedures required to execute a rescue from a confined space. Vertical and horizontal spaces will be displayed and made available to execute rescues. Air quality monitoring, rope rescue, rescue tripod, basic rigging, ventilation, lock/out tag out and incident command system will all be covered as part of this course. Pre-requisites: A working knowledge of rope, knots and hitches and experience wearing SCBA. Students participating in packaging and removing patients during scenarios should not have hair impeding the seal of the SCBA facepiece. Equipment Needed: Long sleeve shirt and long pants or coveralls, fire helmet or hardhat, safety glasses, work gloves, and steel toed boots. SCBA, with spare cylinder (if possible) with PASS device.
