14 WEST SHORE CAFÉ LABOR DAY BARBECUE PARTY The West Shore Café & Inn invites the Tahoe community and visitors alike to the Labor Day Barbecue Party, scheduled for Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The expansive, lake front lawn will offer a classic Tahoe setting to celebrate a long-standing tradition of an outdoor barbecue party over the holiday weekend. Guests will savor classic, summer barbecue fare such as chicken-apple, pork, hot-link beef, or bockwurst sausages; and marinated chicken and famous pulled pork sandwiches. The kids barbecue special includes a hot dog with chips and a homemade cookie. In addition to the Labor Day Barbecue Party and lunch specials, the West Shore Café & Inn s main restaurant, patio, and pier will offer the daily summer menu. The indoor and outdoor patio bars will offer a full selection of beer, wine, summer specialty cocktails, and soft drinks.

17 TAHOE RIM TRAIL Backcountry Camps! This year, The Tahoe Rim Trail Association will host two Backcountry Camps on the Rim to Reno trail project on the following dates. Sat. - Mon. Sept. 3-5 (Labor Day Weekend) A 25-year tradition, the TRTA's Backcountry Camps are an enjoyable and family-friendly way to work on the trail and enjoy the Tahoe outdoor lifestyle. Volunteers spend a few nights camping as a group and working on the trail during the day. Scrumptious food will be provided by volunteer cooks. Families are welcome, and children's camping equipment is available upon request. Please call or teresac@tahoerimtrail.org with any questions. MUSIC! The Village at Squaw Valley Hosts the KT Concert Series with Tributes to The Police, The Rolling Stones and U2 Concerts will be held the first Friday of every month: July 1, August 5 & September 2 The Village at Squaw Valley welcomes the KT Concert Series to its line-up of sizzling summer events. In its inaugural season, the KT Concert Series features well-known tribute bands on the KT Sundeck on the first Friday of July, August and September. Concerts are free to attend and will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 1, August 5 and September 2.
18 The KT Sundeck makes for a spectacular music venue looking out on incredible views of Squaw Valley s most legendary peak. The sun-drenched deck is nestled at the mountain s base just feet from the chairlifts. It is nature at its best with music from some of history s greatest rock bands and cold drinks in Squaw Valley s pristine alpine setting. 36 SPECIAL PROGRAMS & EVENTS TAHOE CITY PARKS & REC Kidz Club Afterschool Recreation Program - The school year is only a few days away which means our afterschool program is about to get a party started at Rideout! This year will feature lots of new and exciting opportunities including field days, special events, and more. Enrichment activities will be ongoing with partnerships from Sierra Watershed (SWEP), North Tahoe Fire, North Tahoe Arts, and other community groups. Daily activities will include arts and crafts, active and passive games, cooking projects, and quiet time/homework help. Be sure to keep an eye on your calendars as there will be themed days including science, technology and more. Transportation to Rideout is provided by TTUSD school buses. Twenty (20) session punch cards are $150 and are good for the entire school year. The Recreation Department offers payment plans and scholarships for those in need of assistance. Kidz Club will begin on Tuesday, September 6th, If you have any questions or would like to purchase a punch card, please call the Recreation Office at (530) Fall Swim Team - Fall Swim Team runs from September 7 through October 13. The cost is $160/$150 and you get 10% off if your child has enrolled in the Spring or Summer Session. Classes will be held at Tahoe Tavern Swimming Pool. Girls on the Run - Girls on the Run is a non-profit program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The curricula addresses all aspects of girls'
37 development - their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being. The program is Mondays and Wednesdays at Rideout from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm from September 12 through November 16. The 10 week program culminates with a 5K run on Sunday, October 30 and everyone is welcome to join in. The cost is $160/$150 which includes materials. Adult Coed Kickball League - Play 6 games under the lights at Conner's Field. For ages 18 years to adult. The registration deadline is September 12 and the season starts that same day on Mondays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. $199 per team. Fall Coed Volleyball League - We are offering a competitive open division and a recreation division for all levels of play. For ages 18 to adult. The playoffs will be officiated; league play is call your own. The deadline to register is September 14. League play is Wednesdays starting September 28 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. $300 per team. Fall Adult Basketball League - We are offering two divisions and open league played with Truckee teams. A recreation division will also be offered to local teams. For ages 18 to adults. The league will be call your own, while the playoffs will be officiated. The registration deadline is September 14. Games are Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm starting September 29. $350 per team. Coed 6-on-6 Soccer - Gather your friends together and form a coed soccer team this fall. 6 verses 6 with a goalie, 90 ft x 45 ft field, two girls minimum on the field. Games are held at Conner's Field on Tuesdays under the lights from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. League play is from September 20 to October 25 and the registration deadline is September 14. $300 per team..
38 GARDEN IN THE ESTATE EVERY WEDNESDAY 10am-noon, No charge, parking fees waived for volunteers Information: Every Wednesday in July and August, join our resident gardener at the Ehrman-Hellman Estate at Ed Z berg-sugar Pine Point State Park for an opportunity to create history! We are inviting the public to bring their garden gloves and hand tools to help us as we work to revitalize and restore the gardens. This is a great volunteer opportunity-on a walk in basis-to learn about our native plants and to help our State Parks. ON THE RADAR
