3 Welcome Dear Guest, Welcome to your home away from home at the National Ability Center lodge. You have chosen a relaxing and exciting destination for your sports, recreation and educational activities. We hope that your stay with us will be both enjoyable and comfortable. You will find we are surrounded by a variety of fun activities and events. The following pages include more information about the programs we offer as well as opportunities here in Park City, and ways to stay connected. For additional information, feel free to call or visit the front desk in the program services building, or contact your group manager. 4 Guest Information Reservation & Room Charges Payment in full is required to make a reservation. For cash or check payments, a credit card has to be on file to complete the reservation. Check-In Time Check-in time is based on availability. For check-ins occurring after business hours, weekends or holidays, accommodations must be pre-arranged at the time of booking. Departures Check out is 10:00 a.m. unless otherwise specified by your group leader. Damages Any damages to your room or the facility will be charged to your credit card. Vending & Ice Machines Beverages and assorted snacks are available, and located in the entry vestibule at the rear of the program services building next door. Ice machines are located on the north end of the lodge on the first floor. Laundry Coin-operated laundry machines and change machine are available on the second floor in the kitchen. Exercise Room The exercise room is located on the second floor, across from the great room. Please sign in when you use the room. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Quiet Hours Please observe quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Smoking The lodge is a non-smoking property. If you choose to smoke, please do so outdoors. A cleaning fee of $100 will be charged to your credit card if you smoke in your room. Pets With the exception of service animals, NO pets are allowed in the facility. 2 Housekeeping In an effort to offer the lowest rate for our guests, daily cleaning service is not included as a part of the lodge rate. Please help us in protecting our natural resources by conserving your towel and linen usage. If you need extra towels or linens you may contact the lodge manager during our regular business hours, or the resident manager in lodge room 105 after hours. Emergency Contact In case of an emergency dial 911. For assistance during regular business hours call the front desk by dialing 0. To reach the resident manager, dial Room Keys Leave the room keys in the key drop box located near the front doors of the facility. A $25 fee will be charged to your credit card if you do not return your room key. 7 About Us As a global leader in adaptive recreation, the National Ability Center provides more than a dozen adaptive recreation programs specifically designed for participants of all abilities. These programs are supported within a fully accessible facility located in Park City, Utah. Since 1985, the National Ability Center has grown to serve thousands of children, athletes, veterans and individuals annually with various disabilities. Program participants come from all socio-economic backgrounds and range in age from young children to aging adults. As an international role model, the National Ability Center promotes the concept of ability through integration, public awareness, education and training. Who We Are The National Ability Center team consists of: (as of November 2015) More than 1,200 volunteers More than 200 community and corporate partners More than 100 part-time and seasonal staff 27 plus year round full-time staff 16 active and engaged board members 12 honorary board members Countless donors and supporters locally, around Utah and across the globe I am Achievement Who We Work With Individuals of all abilities can take part in programs at the National Ability Center, including those with physical, intellectual, disease or mental health concerns and their friends and family members. Specially designed equipment and expert staff are available to support individuals, caregivers and families as they recreate, have fun and achieve their goals. History Founded in 1985 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization by dedicated co-founders Peter Badewitz and Meeche White. Our first year, we provided adaptive ski lessons to 15 veterans through a grant from the Department of Veterans Administration. For more than a decade, the National Ability Center headquarters were located at various spots at the base of Park City Mountain Resort, including our current mountain center just below Payday lift. In 1996, an anonymous donor provided the National Ability Center with 26 acres of pristine land in the Quinn s Junction area, where our offices, equestrian facilities and lodge stand today. 5

8 Our Programs Programs & Activities The National Ability Center has a variety of programs and activities you can take advantage of during your stay. From rock climbing to hitting the slopes and surfing the wake there is something for everyone. For a complete list of our programs, please look at the enclosed program guide. See below for information on how to sign up or simply ask one of our team members, and join us in discovering the possibilities. Family Involvement We encourage families to recreate together. We offer customized equestrian and sports and recreation experiences based on each family s particular interests. Rental & Equipment Fittings/ Assessments Whether you want to recreate on your own, with your family or as part of a group, proper equipment and a great fit can make the difference in your experience and level of success. Equipment fittings can also be used to help you get the best performance from your current gear or determine which equipment to invest in for the future. Contact our equipment and rental coordinator at to coordinate rental of our equipment or to schedule an equipment fitting and ability assessment with one of our expert staff. Note: To ensure we can meet your individual and/or family needs, please request rental equipment and fittings at least 48 hours in advance. 12 Transportation Local/Area Transportation Services DIAL-A-RIDE (free bus service) Park City Transit offers Dial-a-Ride service to the National Ability Center. Requests for rides must be a minimum of two hours in advance by calling. This service operates between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. The first pick-up from the National Ability Center Ranch is at 8:35am. For additional information and route map visit their website. PARK CITY TRANSIT (free bus service) Park City Transit Buses are ADA accessible. We are also pleased to provide door-to-door Para-transit service to ADA-certified passengers who cannot ride the fixed route service. For an ADA eligibility application or for further information, contact our Transit Certification Office from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. For route information, please refer to their website. BUS SERVICE (from Park City to Salt Lake) RIDE.UTA ( ) Exact fare is required. Fares are subject to change. Thirty-day passes are also available. ECO and ED passes are not accepted. The PC-SLC Connect is a special service. Free transfers can be made to and from local UTA buses, TRAX and Park City Transit. 16 Things To Do PARK CITY MOUNTAIN During the summer, Park City Mountain offers: Alpine slide, zip line, Alpine coaster, mountain hiking and biking, Legacy Launcher, chairlift, rock climbing wall, miniature golf, Adventure Zoo, Little Miner s Park and inflatable bounce house. From Park City s Canyons Village you can also enjoy scenic gondola rides, zip tour adventures, scavenger hunts, mountain biking and hiking, bike park, disc golf course, family putting course, fishing, pedal boats, golfing and live music concerts. In the winter, Park City Mountain offers: skiing and snowboarding on 300+ trails spread over 7,300 acres, a 22-foot Olympic half-pipe, terrain parks, snowmobiling and sleigh rides ice skating and night skiing Lowell Ave. Park City, UT DEER VALLEY MOUNTAIN RESORT During the summer, Deer Valley Mountain Resort offers: hiking and scenic chairlifts, mountain biking (mountain bike rental and mountain bike school available), snow park outdoor amphitheater. In the winter, Deer Valley offers: skiing on groomed to perfection slopes, award-winning ski school, ski valets, on-mountain child care, old-fashioned sleigh rides, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing in the dramatic backcountry of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountain ranges, hot air ballooning and heli-skiing. (Please note that Deer Valley is strictly a ski resort. Kindly save your snowboarding adventures for the numerous other ski/snowboard resorts in the surrounding area.) 2250 Deer Valley Drive South Park City, UT BRIGHTON RESORT Brighton offers skiing and snowboarding, instruction and night skiing. From 4-9 pm Monday through Saturday, visitors can enjoy skiing or snowboarding on 20 lighted runs-over 200 acres-served by 3 lifts. Brighton s beginner terrain park offers smaller rails and jumps. On the other end of the spectrum, the resort s top-to-bottom terrain park and superpipe are great for both the spectator and enthusiast. Brighton is closed during the summer South Brighton Loop Road Brighton, UT SNOW (7669) SOLITUDE RESORT In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, Solitude also has 20 kilometers of Nordic skiing trails groomed for skate and classic styles, as well as a set of snowshoeing trails. The Village base is home to a kid-friendly ice skating rink to keep the winter fun going after the lifts shut down Big Cottonwood Canyon Solitude, UT JORDANELLE STATE PARK During the summer, Jordanelle State Park accommodates biking, camping, fishing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, canoeing and motorboating. Bird watchers, photographers, and other nature enthusiasts can view the more than 200 different forms of bird and mammal life. In the winter, ice fishing and snowshoeing is available. During the summer, Wasatch Mountain State Park accommodates golf, hiking, biking, camping and horseback riding. During the winter, snowmobiling cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is available. 22 Round Valley trails are located right out the back door of the National Ability Center. Enjoy miles of trail around our facilities. Some areas of Round Valley surrounding the National Ability Center are designated off-leash recreation areas. Please be aware of dogs and other trail users.
