1 2018 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SURFING TITLES TEAM NSW Congratulations on your great results at the NSW Junior and Grommets State Titles. You have now qualified to be part of Team NSW and have been selected to compete at the 2018 Surf Dive n Ski Australian Junior Surfing Titles. This event will include the Australian Junior Titles and the Australian School Surfing Titles. This year it is South Australia s turn to host the event, which will be held on the Fleurieu Peninsula- South Australia region, with prime location as Parsons Beach with other possible locations including Waitpinga Beach, Seaford Beach and Middleton Beach. Organised by Surfing Australia, the week-long event will see the best junior surfers in Australia battle it out for the title of Australian Junior Champion Event dates are: Surfing NSW Team Training Camp - Friday 30th November Opening Ceremony - Saturday 1 st December pm Exact Location TBC (Victor Harbour) Finals / Presentations Saturday 8 th December approx 4pm Team NSW Requirements for 2018 Please be advised that the following requirements must be adhered to. If you the surfer and your parent/ guardian do not accept and agree to these rules and conditions you will automatically forfeit your position in Team NSW. Your position will be given to the next reserve in line. Please notify events@surfingnsw.com.au ASAP if you cannot attend the event or are not prepared to accept the terms as below 2018 TEAM NSW INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION As part of Team NSW, you are required to agree to, sign and/or provide the following documentation 1. Surfer Information Form (together with School Permission) 2. Team Participant Agreement 3. Code of Conduct - Surfers and Parents 4. Proof of Australian Citizenship. Birth Certificate or Australian Passport. 5. Entry Form: This must be completed online via Surfing NSW website. 6. Team Uniform all documents to events@surfingnsw.com.au

2 Event Information: ALL NSW TEAM Surfers You must make your own arrangements to attend the Australian Junior Surfing Titles. An adult must accompany you at all times. You must be at the event site ready to compete with all your surfing gear on competition dates. Team members are required to attend training sessions, opening & closing ceremonies, and cheer on Team NSW throughout the event. Please note Under 14 s do not have to attend the whole period. However, the schedule will not be released until further notice. Event Dates - Opening Ceremony Saturday 1st December 2018 Event Location - Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia- the event is fully mobile between Seaford Beach (North) Parsons Beach (West) Middleton Beach (East). Competition is expected to commence each day at 7.30am and run through to approx. 4pm each day. Entry Procedure - Entry for the Australian Junior Surfing Titles must be completed online (surfingaustralia.com/states/nsw/events/team-nsw-surf-dive-n-ski-australian-junior-surfing-titles) This year the cost is $250 for first division entry, which includes Uniform fee. If you need to enter a second division it will cost an additional $145. As part of the Surfing Australian requirements you will be required to supply proof of Australian Citizenship this must be either current passport, birth certificate or citizenship certificate All surfers must ensure your school signs the attached forms, regardless if you are in the school division or not. Event Hotline will be available each day from 6.45 with event location/ running schedule Parents of Team NSW Surfers You are responsible for your child at all times. For any information regarding the event, please ensure you ring the event hotline, or speak to Surfing NSW manager. Surfing NSW coach and Manager will be available for guidance and coaching at the event site, but it is your responsibility to ensure your child has all their equipment and are present for their heats and checked in with the beach marshal. There may be an occasion when you are invited to attend NSW team dinner. This will be communicated prior to the event dates and notification/ acceptance must be given prior for catering purposes. TEAM PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT Following the selection of the above surfer to represent Surfing NSW (SNSW) in a team competing in an event conducted under the auspicious of Surfing Australia, both the surfer/ student and the parent/(s) agree that: 1. The surfer will: 1.1. Arrange own travel, accommodation and meal requirements as an individual participant Obey all team rules and/or codes of conduct, reasonable instructions, and any requests made by team or event officials; 1.3. Co-operate with all officials and fellow surfers and behave in a manner acceptable to team officials, his/her school and Surfing NSW; 1.4. Accept that a total ban exists during the Australian Junior Surfing Title dates on the consumption of alcohol, drugs (except on medical prescription), the driving of motor vehicles, smoking and cyberbullying (harassing, teasing, intimidating, racially vilifying or threatening another person by sending or posting inappropriate and hurtful e- mail messages, instant messages, text messages, phone messages, digital pictures or images, or website postings including social network sites e.g. facebook or blogs and the sending, receiving and/or possession of naked or sexually explicit images of a person); 2. Any instance of inappropriate or unacceptable behavior during the selection, training, travelling or attendance at the event will be brought to the attention of the surfer, the parent/(s) and the school when required. 3. Should the surfer's behaviour be deemed by team or event officials to be such that his/her continued participation is undesirable or should there be circumstances that make it inappropriate for the surfer to continue to participate, then the parent/(s) will arrange, in conjunction with SNSW Manager, for his/her immediate collection or unescorted return to their home and the parent/(s) will meet all relevant expenses. 4. Where a surfer's participation is curtailed for any inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour, he/she will not be eligible to represent Team NSW. 5. Surfing NSW officials may take whatever disciplinary action they deem necessary and appropriate to ensure the safety, wellbeing and successful conduct of the surfers in the team as a group, or individually, in the event, and parent/(s) specifically authorise this. 6. In the event of any loss, injury or damage sustained by the surfer during, or as a result of, or incidental to participation in trials, training, or events, no claim will be made by the surfer or parent/(s) against SNSW, School Sport Australia or any officials. 7. Where arrangements are made for transport or other care by parent/(s) during the event, the parent/(s) acknowledge that they are responsible for the care of the surfer. 8. I give permission for the surfer's photograph to be taken for use on a web-site developed for Surfing NSW or for any other promotional material. 9. By signing below, I agree to the information listed above and I accept all fees incurred by SNSW for the Surfer. 5 3. CODE OF CONDUCT - PARENTS AND SURFERS 1. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of fellow team members, competitors, team managers, coaches, officials and spectators regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion 2. Care for and respect the equipment/ facilities provided to you as part of the event. 3. Be frank and honest with team coach and manager concerning illness and injury and your ability to compete in the event. 4. No consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs. 5. Conduct yourself in a professional manner relating to language, temper and punctuality. 6. Refrain from any behaviour that may bring Surfing NSW or Team NSW into disrepute. 7. Maintain high personal behaviour standards at all times. 8. Be professional in and take responsibility for your actions. 9. Abide by competition rules and respect the decision of the official, making all appeals through the formal process and respecting the final decision. 10. Cooperate with the directions on team management and coaches at all times. 11. Allow Team Management to administer or facilitate appropriate medical treatment for any injury or illness suffered.
