1 Activity Level 3 Key Steps Gymnastics Location Diamond Gymnastics Club Date of Activity 22 nd & 23 rd May 2017 Venue Specific information Diamond Gymnastics is a working gym club and as such there will be equipment set up around the club. Children are not allowed to play on/touch the equipment unless they have been told by the club it is safe to do so and are full supervised by a member of the club/school staff. Care must be taken when walking the children from the car park area to the venue. Hazard What is the risk? Who is at risk? Control Measures Residual Risk Rating Transport - - Schools to provide their own transport risk assessment. School staff must accompany - participants off the bus and to the competition area. Car Park Being hit by cars Schools to ensure that children are not messing around in the car park area and that children walk sensibly to the venue. Schools area advised to park in the bays designated Diamonds Gymnastics and be considerate of other car park users. Entrance to venue Playing surface Equipment Venue entrance to be blocked by objects/ slipping on a wet surface. Slips, trips and falls on the surface & other injury from items on the surface Injury from damaged/inappropriate equipment School Any objects (ie bins/signs) are to be removed to a safe place before Schools arrive. Whilst the entrance to the venue is carpet the hall is a Sportshall floor, Schools should therefore ensure that participants wipe their feet on arrival at the venue. Activity areas will be checked prior to competition starting and any potential hazards will be removed. Areas deemed unsafe/unsuitable will not be used for competition and reported to the gymnastics club. Equipment to be checked during the set up period and prior to the start of the competition. Any unsafe/unsuitable equipment will be removed. Competition Organiser/Gymnastics Club is to ensure

Equipment is not to be used by participants unless they are supervised by School. School are responsible for the safety of their pupils at all times. Equipment to be checked throughout the competition for damage and faults faulty and/or damaged equipment to be removed and replaced. Pupils must not use any equipment other than designated competition equipment. School must register with the Competition Organiser (or the designated Young Leader) on arrival at the venue. School are responsible for conducting registers/head counts at regular intervals. In the event of a participant becoming unaccounted for the Competition Organiser must be informed immediately a full register check will be completed before searching the building areas. must be accompanied by School when using the toilets and when arriving/departing the venue. Inappropriately behaved participants/schools will be removed from the competition and in severe cases will be returned to school. Head Teachers will be informed of any inappropriate behaviour. Competition Organiser to ensure that all participants are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prior to competition starting. Any thing that is deemed unsafe/unsuitable must be removed where possible or a participant will not be permitted to play in the competition. For gymnastics all footwear must be

Leotards are not to be worn and school PE kit is advised. All jewellery must be removed prior to the start of the competition including stud ear rings. Long hair must be tied back. On arrival at the venue, Schools will be instructed as to where to store bags. Any bags/clothing/food/drinks must be kept within this area throughout the competition. Any spills must be cleaned up immediately. School are responsible for monitoring their area and ensuring that the area is safe. School must remove any rubbish from these areas following the competition. Parents/guardians and spectators are allowed to attend this competition providing they stay in the areas set out for parents/spectators. They must not: 1. Obstruct or access the playing area 2. Use foul, abusive or inappropriate language at anytime 3. Consume alcohol anywhere on the grounds 4. Smoke anywhere on the grounds 5. Leave littler/rubbish around the spectator areas. Failure to comply with any of the rules outlined above will result in spectators being removed from the competition area immediately and the Head Teacher for the school being informed of the behaviour. School are responsible for the provision and administration of their own first aid. Competition Organiser will brief School prior to the

Emergency procedures 2. Evacuation procedures All accidents must be reported to Competition Organiser. Competition Organiser will document all incidents/accidents throughout the competition. Competition Organiser will confirm emergency procedures and any planned alarm tests on the day of competition. Competition Organiser will brief Schools prior to the start of competition, providing information on 1. Emergency Procedures 2. Evacuation Procedures In the case of a fire, Schools must line pupils before heading to the nearest exit and the fire assembly point. They must conduct a full register count and await further instructions from the Competition Organiser. Schools are responsible for any parents/spectators that they may have. School are responsible for ensuring that participants have access to fluids throughout the competition and that they are consumed at regular intervals. There will not be any provision of drinking water at the competition. School are responsible for ensuring that any rubbish (ie drinks bottles) is removed at the end of the competition. Although the competition is indoors schools should take into consideration weather conditions on arrival at the venue ie ensure that participants are wrapped up if weather is cold. In the unlikely event that the competition has to be cancelled, will contact the schools
