1 12 th FINA SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING WORLD CUP 2010 BULLETIN 2 China Swimming Association is privileged to invite all FINA Federations to participate in the 12 th FINA Synchronised Swimming World Cup 2010 to be held in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China. FINA PRESIDENT S MESSAGE It is my great pleasure to welcome all of you in for the 12th FINA Synchronised Swimming World Cup, to be held from September 16-19, Synchro in China has become a very strong aquatic discipline and the first Olympic (2008) and World (2009) medals for its swimmers demonstrate how much this country is investing in the sport. This World Cup is, therefore, also a reward for this effort and will be the privileged opportunity for the local swimmers to shine in front of enthusiastic crowds. Over the latest years, important changes in synchronised swimming led the way to new developments in this spectacular and artistic discipline. The launch of the Combination event, the split of the programme in the FINA World Championships between the technical and free routines (starting in 2007) and the creation of the annual World Trophy are important milestones. They allow new countries and stars to be in the top of the world hierarchy and they enhance the quality of the performances. This FINA World Cup will certainly generate an intense fight for the podium spots in the four events (solo, duet, team and combination), but will also stimulate the youth worldwide for the beauty and attractiveness of synchronised swimming. I am sure that with the support of the spectators, media representatives and sponsors present in Changshu an important step will be made in that direction. I take this occasion to express my warm thanks to the China Swimming Association for the successful organisation of this World Cup. Its passion, competence and knowledge are the best guarantee for a very positive outcome of this competition. 2 COMPETITION DATES September 2010 LOCATION Changshu Sports Centre, Suzhou, Jiangsu SANCTIONED BY Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) HOSTED BY China Swimming Association ORGANISED BY Jiangsu Provincial Sports Administration, Changshu Municipal Government RULES FINA rules will govern for all events. ELIGIBILITY All National Teams from all FINA Federations. DELEGATION Each participating Federation may send a maximum of twelve (12) athletes, three (3) coaches, two (2) judges, two (2) medical personnel and one (1) team leader. Additional staff will be arranged according to the extra-requirements. JUDGES Each participating Federation may send a maximum of two (2) FINA Judges, of which at least one must be A or B. If a Federations does not have any A or B judges, they may send one (1) G judge. Any G judge must have judged at a minimum of 2 international competitions in the previous 3 years. The deadline for the registration is 15 July The nominations will be confirmed by the FINA TSSC. Please note: only Judges who have passed the FINA Judges Test by 15 July, 2010 will be eligible to judge at the 12 th FINA Synchronised Swimming World Cup PRACTICE JUDGES We are pleased to announce that one (1) additional FINA Judge per Federation may also be Practice Judge and be evaluated at the Cup. The Host Country is allowed to register two (2) Practice Judges. Please return the FINA Practice Judging form to the FINA Office ( synchro@fina.org / fax: ). The deadline for the registration is 15 July The FINA TSSC will then confirm the names. COMPETITION The competition will consist of: Solo technical 50%, Duet technical 50%, Team technical 50%, Combination Preliminaries and Finals 100%; Solo Free 50%, Duet Free 50%, Team Free 50%. Each participating Federation may enter one (1) Solo, one (1) Duet, one (1) Team and one (1) Combination. 2

3 AWARDS Medals will be awarded to 1 st 3 rd places in all routine events. All swimmers will receive a Certificate of Participation. You will be sent a formal letter of invitation to the event listing your delegation by name and including the required passport information. A copy of this invitation along with a formal letter from CSA will be sent to the China Embassy or Consulate where you are making application. NATIONAL ANTHEMS The Organising Committee requests that all participating Federations provide their National Anthems on a CD. Please note: CDs will be collected during the Team Leaders Meeting on 15 September. SOUND EQUIPMENT & ROUTINES CDs The brand name of the Sound equipment is PEAVEY including a Yamaha Speaker. A Tascam variable speed CD player will be available. DAT tapes and cassette tapes are not supported. CDs should only contain only one routine per CD. CD tracks should be clearly marked with competitor s name and Federation. All music must have a four to five second lead. Please note: CDs will be collected during the Team Leaders Meeting on 15 September. HOUSING & FOOD Hotel A: Crown Plaza Changshu (5 star) Address: 1 Kaiyuan Street, Changshu. Rate: Single Occupancy USD 160 per person per day; Double Occupancy USD 120 per person per day. Hotel B: Holiday Inn Express (2 star) Address: 2#, Kaiyuan Street, Changshu. (no more than 20 rooms are available; first come, first served) Rate: Double Occupancy USD 90 per person per day. Above rates will be available from 12 September for checking in and 20 September for checking out. Housing includes three meals per day. Meals will be served from the dinner of 12 September to the breakfast of 20 September. If you are arriving before 12 September or you need to leave the hotel after 20 September, please contact the Chinese Swimming Association ( csa@sport.gov.cn / fax: ) for specific hotel arrangements. Reservations will be made by China Swimming Association upon the receipt of the Final Entry and payment. The hotel package must be purchased through China Swimming Association to receive a credential, three meals at the hotel and local transportation. Exceed personnel & early arrival Each participating Federation may send a maximum of twelve (12) athletes, three (3) coaches, two (2) judges, two (2) medical personnel and one (1) team leader. The charges for exceed personnel are as follows: 5

6 Hotel A: Crown Plaza Changshu (5 star), 1#, Kaiyuan Street, Changshu. Rate: Single Occupancy USD 170 per person per day; Double Occupancy USD 130 per person per day. Hotel B: Holiday Inn Express (2 star), 2#, Kaiyuan Street, Changshu. (no more than 20 rooms are available; first come, first served) Rate: Double Occupancy only USD 100 per person per day. The fees above include the cost for additional credentials. If you are arriving before 12 September, please inform the Organising Committee who will make the necessary arrangements for you. The charge is the same with that of the exceed personnel. No training will be arranged at the competition pool before the official training time. PAYMENT Payment can be made by money order, cashiers check or wire transfer to the Changshu Sports Bureau, China. All transfers must be in US dollars. A receipt of payment will be sent for each bank transfer received. CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations must be made in writing no later than 1 September 2010 to CSA for a full refund. Due to contractual arrangements with the hotel, requests for refunds received after this date will not be accepted and refunds will not be provided. AIRPORT & TRANSPORTATION The Shanghai Pudong International Airport is served by all major airlines and is located approximately 120 km from the Hotels in Changshu. Transportation for the Official delegation and credentialed personnel from each Federation will be provided between the airport and hotel and between the hotel and the pool. Transportation will also be provided between the hotel and all events and back to the hotel. ACCREDITATION All participants must go through the accreditation procedures and be accredited. It is requested that one photo of each participant should be sent to the Organising Committee together with the Visa/Accreditation Application Form by and indicate the participant s name on back of the photo. 7 TICKETS Tickets for the competition sessions for spectators will be available at the gate. The tickets for preliminaries are 150 RMB for Ticket A and 100 RMB for Ticket B. The tickets for finals are 200 RMB for Ticket A and 150 RMB for Ticket B. An all-session pass can be purchased for 1120 RMB for Ticket A and 800 RMB for Ticket B. NATIONAL TEAM INFORMATION COLLECTION In order to promote the Cup to the widest possible audience locally, the Organising Committee warmly welcomes all participants to send pictures and other information about their national teams together with the Final Entry Forms. DVDs DVD copies of the events will be available for sale at the Competition. ACTION PHOTOGRAPHY We will shoot action shots of all events. If you are interested in purchasing a photo CD, the cost is $15 per competitor (entire Federation entered in competition must participate) with a maximum of $150 per Federation. Each competitor will receive a CD of each event she is entered in. CDs will be mailed within four weeks of the competition to each Federation. Arrangements for payment can be made in advance or onsite.
