2 Welcome to Devon Pool Life Saving Championships 2014 The Championships will be held at NDLC, Barnstaple on Sunday 9th March 2014 We have once again split the championships in to two sessions based on age groups. Under 10 Competition All U10 competitors 10am 1pm Team managers meeting 9:30 am, warm up 10 am First event will start at 10:10 am. Under 13 Competition All U13 competitors please arrive at 1pm for your warm up. Competition runs from 1.15pm to 4.30pm Team managers meeting at 1.00pm PLEASE NOTE THAT NO ONE ON POOLSIDE BEFORE 10am ONLY TWO TEAM MANAGERS AND COMPETITORS ON POOLSIDE PLEASE. Please make sure that your competitors are ready for their warm up. REFEREE / TIMEKEEPERS; All clubs must provide 2 time keepers with stopwatches. All helpers on the pool side at 10am please. 2 x water official and 2 x poolside helpers per club to assist with setting out the equipment for each event. Please refer to Surf Life Saving current rules. Lunch will be provided for those that help all day. However, helpers do not need to be the same person all day, clubs may rotate personnel. INDIVIDUAL EVENTS Flipper Race- All ages; 8yrs = 25m 9yrs, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs = 50m Board Race All ages; 8yrs = 25m 9yrs, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs = 50m Manikin Carry Race All ages; Empty Manikins 8yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs, = 25m Half full Manikin for 11yrs & 12yrs = 25m Full Manikin for 13 yrs only = 25m 2

3 PAIR EVENTS The Board Rescue; Age group event only for 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs and 13yrs. The competitors in each team must be in the same age group; unlimited entries. Nippers cannot swim up or down the age groups! The casualty will not swim. This is to allow more pool time. The Rescue Tube; Age group event only for 11yrs, 12yrs, and 13yrs, individual age groups only. The competitors in each team must be in the same age group; unlimited entries. Nippers cannot swim up or down the age groups! TEAM EVENTS Medley Relay; 4 x 25m mixed age group event for 8yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs only two teams per club. Medley Relay; 4 x 25m mixed age group event for 11yrs- 13yrs only two teams per club. Board Relay; 4 x 25m mixed age groups event for 8yrs 10yrs, 11yrs 13yrs two teams per club. Manikin Relay; 4 x 12.5m mixed age group event for 12yrs- 13yrs age groups only two teams per club. Full Manakin Full manikins carry. Competitors can only swim once and not again to make up another team. Only one team manager can be at the starting area for the team events to make sure their club competitors are ready. POINT SCORNG / MEDALS The first 10 competitors/teams will score as follows. Place scorings to 10 th place in each event, heat declared winners. 4 GENERAL Clubs are reminded that competitor and supporter behaviour must be in accordance with the rules of the Surf Life Saving Association and Parkwood Leisure and follow the Fair Play Code. Clubs should ensure that their competitors are able to perform a competitive start safely otherwise they will have to start in the water. Competitors swim cards will be issue to the team managers one week before the Championships. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS 10am Start!
