1 2016 Sandia Novice Series Short Course Championships Hosted by Santa Fe Aquatic Club January 31, 2016 Pool Elevation 7000 Feet Sanction: Location: Facility: This meet is being held under the sanction of USA Swimming and New Mexico Swimming. The sanction number is USA Swimming: NMS16L04C Genoveva Chavez Community Center Natatorium W Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM (505) The pool for the meet has an elevation of 7000 feet. The pool will have 8 designated lanes configured as a SCY competition course. The pool will have eight lanes by 25y x 25y pool equipped with non-turbulent lane lines and Daktronics Timing System with Touchpads and with 1 8-lane display system. A floating bulkhead is used at the turn end of the lanes. The water depth at the starting end of the pool is 13 feet or greater. At the bulkhead, the depth is 6 feet or greater. The race course is certified in accordance with USA Swimming Rule C(4). There are no glass containers allowed on the deck of the Natatorium. Meet Hotel: Directions: Venue: A hotel is located nearby, west of the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. Teams should make and pay for their own room reservations. Traveling on I-25, take Exit 278 to merge onto NM-14 N/Cerrillos Road. Go three miles and turn right on Rodeo Rd. Go one mile and turn left on Richards Ave. which makes a sharp right, drive east past the Santa Fe Fire Station and turn right up a short hill to The Chavez Center. Parking is on your left. The Chavez Natatorium locker and restroom facilities are located downstairs. Smoking and glass containers are not allowed anywhere in the Chavez Community Center and Natatorium. The therapy pool, hot tub, and leisure pool are strictly offlimits to all participants, spectators and officials during the meet.

2 Eligibility: The meet is open to all 2016 USA Swimming registered athletes. Novice sanction rules apply: Participants must not have attained the B Motivational Qualifying Time in each event. Host teams are exempt from this rule if they so choose. There will not be an opportunity to obtain a valid USA Swimming number or registration at the competition. USA Swimming Athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. Participating teams must pay the $40 league entry fee, payable to Charger Aquatics, prior to entry in the meet. Teams must also sign and return with their entries the attached team registration form that attests to their swimmers current USA Swimming registration. All registrations will be verified. The swimmer's age as of January 31, 2016 shall be used to determine their age group for competition. On deck registrations will not be allowed. Damage to the facility, when proved, will cause the offending swimmer if unattached or the offending swimmer s club if attached to be held accountable for repairs. All swimmers, coaches, parents and spectators are reminded that we are guests of the City of Santa Fe s Genoveva Chavez Community Center. Please be respectful of the facility and all visitors. Vandalism to the property will not be tolerated. Please report witness to such behavior to the Meet Director or Meet Referee. The Sandia Novice Short Course Championships will be a timed-final, one-session, short course yards (SCY) meet. Eligible swimmers will compete in their respective age groups, as specified, in the order of events of the individual sessions. All events will be preseeded from slowest to fastest. Fly-over starts may be used to control the timeline if it is deemed necessary to complete the session within the requirements of New Mexico Swimming rules USA Swimming Rules and Regulations govern this meet, except as noted in this meet information. See attached order of events for the list of events and their schedule. If needed, there will be a coaches meeting approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of each session. All coaches must display their current USA Swimming Coaches

3 card while on deck at the meet. Coaches who are non-compliant will not be allowed on-deck. Coach updates need to be in to Deborah Kruhm on the Monday prior to the meet. Meet Referee: Steve Morrell, Administrative Official: Mary Jane Parks, (626) Meet Official: Dan Borovina, , Meet Director: Karen Borovina, , Swimwear: All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials. For men, the swimsuit shall not extend above the navel nor below the knees, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below the knee. No fasteners, other than draw stings, are allowed. Only one suit can be worn during competition, unless the referee is notified before the event that a swimmer is wearing two suites for modesty. Unaccompanied Swimmer: Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Locker Rooms: Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera is not permitted in changing areas, restrooms or locker rooms. "Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited." Entries: Entry Fees: All swimmers may swim a maximum of 4 individual events and 1 relay. All registrations will be verified. No on deck USA-Swimming registrations will be accepted. Entry times will be seeded as SCY, LCM, then SCM. The swimmers age as of January 31, 2016 shall determine their age for the meet. Entry fees are $20 per swimmer, $8.00 per relay. Entry fee includes a $5 per swimmer pool charge. Entries received after the deadline, or for deck entries will be $30, $10 per relay. Entry Deadline: All entries must be received by 6:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2016 via Team Unify. Teams may also submit entries in Hytek format. All teams, please also

Payment of fees must be postmarked no later than Friday January 22, Any entries submitted after the entry deadline will be accepted at the discretion of the Meet Director and are subject to deck entry prices. Entry Process: Upload your team swimmers via Team Unify, or, for Hytek users, the Hytek Entry File as an attachment to sfac.entries@gmail.com and attach a meet entries report by name in PDF or Word format. Full payment can be made by Team Check or Cashier s Check and mailed to the SFAC address above. Deck Entries: No on deck USA-Swimming registrations will be accepted. Deck entries will only be accepted if open lanes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Deck entries will be $30 per swimmer, $10 per relay. Warm-Up Procedures: Warm-up times are listed on the schedule of events page. Should the number of swimmers in the meet warrant an additional warm-up session, one will be created and the teams notified of their specific warm-up time. Session 1: The following rules apply: General warm-up (35 minutes): No diving from the blocks or pool edge; swimmers must enter the water feet first in a cautious manner; No sprinting or pace work permitted; All lanes to be used for general warm-up. Specific warm-up (15 minutes)

5 Push/pace lanes 1 and 8. Push off from starting end. Circle swimming only. NO DIVING; Racing starts lanes 2 through 7. Sprint lanes are for race starts and backstroke starts, swimming in one direction only; General warm-up in the 8-lane pool. No diving or sprinting. Circle swimming only. Continuous warm-up/cool-down will be available in a separate eight-lane pool. Lanes will not be assigned. Scoring/Awards: No scoring for swimmers will be completed at the Sandia Novice Championship Meet. All swimmers shall receive a participation ribbon for the meet. Programs, Heat Sheets, Psych Sheets and Final Results: Programs will be available at a one-time charge of $5.00. Final results will be ed to all participating teams and also posted on the New Mexico Swimming website: Hospitality and Concessions: Food concessions will be available at the meet. Officials and coaches will be provided with meals and refreshments in the hospitality area. Officials and Timers: Volunteer timers and officials are always welcome and encouraged. Safety Guidelines: Safety Marshals shall be on deck to enforce the safety guidelines. The marshals, under the direction of the Meet Referee, shall have the authority to remove any swimmer or coach found to be in violation of unsportsmanlike conduct, swimming ethics, or procedures outlined in the meet information. USA Swimming certified coaches shall direct their swimmers regarding the safety guidelines and warm-up procedures.
