1 Movement flood response Fact sheet no 9 12 November 2010 The following factsheet provides an overview of the assistance provided to flood-affected people up to 10 November by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) with the support of its Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (Movement) partners. The information presented is based on the reports shared by all partners and is compiled to present the overall achievements according to each sector. Highlights As of 10 November: 2,091,222 people have received food and non-food items through relief distributions. 173,118 people have been reached with health services and psychosocial support. 395,941 1 people have been benefited from water and sanitation services. The Movement operations are in the initial stages of recovery after completing the emergency phase in KPK and. Movement emergency responses are still ongoing in the provinces of, and as large areas remain inundated. In total, 2,091,243 people have been reached with relief. 1,611,568 people have been reached with food and 970,424 people have been reached with non-food items. The progress so far in the relief operations is represented in terms of people reached in the following graphs. Note: The emergency phase in KPK and has concluded with the completion of food and non-food items distributions, with achievements in both exceeding targets. In KPK, a total of 637,581 people have been assisted against a caseload of 602,000 for food, while a total of 388,465 people have been assisted against a case load of 248,500 for non-food items. 1 This number has been revised down to only include verified numbers. The verified total should increase to reflect actual figures.

2 In, 49,084 people have been assisted against a caseload of 35,000 for food and 49,048 people have been assisted against a caseload of 11,669 for non-food items. No further relief distributions took place during the reporting period. In AJK, all planned distributions have been completed. Shelter 296,761 tarpaulins, 25,407 2 tents and 52,175 shelter kits have been distributed under the nonfood items relief distribution. This will cater for emergency shelter needs of the flood-affected people. The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is providing emergency and basic health services through 33 health teams and diarrhoea treatment centres at three flood-affected locations in KPK. A total of 151,281 people have been treated by the health teams and diarrhoea treatment centres in all the flood-affected areas. The most recent 15-day period from 26 October to 10 November has seen the lowest rate of increase in reported medical cases, with only a 2.6 per cent rise. A month ago, the same time period up to 5 October recorded a 17.8 per cent increase. Diarrhoea incidence recorded the lowest rate of increase with only 671 cases, an increase of only 2 per cent. Psychosocial support programme (PSP) The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement PSP teams continue to support the flood-affected people in. In total 21,837 people have been reached. PSP activities include informal education, group sessions on psychosocial education, sports activities, referrals, individual sessions and dealing with the vulnerable. 2 This figure has been adjusted down after verification.

3 Water and sanitation Since the start of the operation, 155,017,270 litres of water have been produced by the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement water and sanitation teams. To date, water and sanitation services have benefitted 395,941 individuals.
