1 Movement flood response Fact sheet no January 2011 The following factsheet provides an overview of the assistance provided to flood-affected people up to 19 January by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) with the support of its Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (Movement) partners. The information presented is based on the reports shared by all partners and is compiled to present the overall achievements according to each sector. Highlights As of 19 January: 2,480,709 people have received food and non-food items through relief distributions. 195,172 people have been reached with health services and psychosocial support. 670,333 people have benefited from water and sanitation services. Winterized transitional shelter distribution in, as part of early recovery, reaching 56,868 people. The Movement continues early recovery interventions. 421,260 people received agricultural assistance material in, and Balochistan. The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement has reached 2,357,082 people with food and 1,511,685 people with non-food items, reaching its initial targets. In and, the Movement has completed relief distributions. Based on further needs transitioning into recovery, more food distribution is planned for Balochistan,, AJK, and, with 80,591 people already reached. The following graph gives an overview of people reached so far with food distributions:

2 Shelter 358,465 tarpaulins, 25,483 tents and 66,882 shelter kits have been distributed under the nonfood items relief distribution. This will cater for emergency shelter needs of the flood-affected people. The Movement s winterized shelter distribution is nearly completed in. So far 56,868 people have been reached. The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is providing emergency and basic health services through 9 health teams in flood-affected areas 1. A total of 173,299 people have been reached in all the flood-affected areas. 1 There were 33 health teams and 4 diarrhoea treatment centres at the height of the operation.

3 Psychosocial support programme (PSP) 2 In total 21,837 people have been reached these continue receiving ongoing PSP support, especially in where needs are greatest. PSP activities include informal education, group sessions on psychosocial education, sports activities, referrals, individual sessions and dealing with the vulnerable. Water and sanitation Since the start of the operation, 71,941,726 litres of water have been produced. To date, water and sanitation services have benefitted 670,333 people. The table below gives an overview of water and sanitation interventions. Restoring Family Links () 3 For relatives separated by floods, often displaced, the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement set up an emergency phone service to restore family links benefiting 879 families. At least 6,200 people have been served. Early Recovery The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement has completed seed, fertilizers and tool kits distributions in, and Baluchistan to assist flood affected people whose livelihoods/crops and homes were damaged in the floods. The assistance is meant to help the flood victims to re-cultivate their agricultural lands for the ongoing Rabi season. A total of 407,260 people have been assisted with provision of seeds, fertilizers and tool kits in and Balochistan. A total of 14,000 people have been reached with provision of winter vegetables seeds in. For detailed information on the locations of Movement partners, please refer to the Annexe attached. Reporting figures are expected to rise as early recovery identifies further populations in need of PSP. 3 Reporting for service has completed.
