2 MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON AT LUDLOW CASTLE SPORTS COMPLEX REGARDING "SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PLAN" IN THE GOVT. SCHOOLS OF THE DIRECTORATE A meeting was held on under the chairmanship of Director (Education) from a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex regarding "Sports Development Plan" in the Govt. schools of the Directorate of Education. The list of Officers who attended the meeting is enclosed herewith at Annexure I. In the meeting, the power point presentations were made by all the zonal Supervisors (Phy. Edn.) except those of zone 2 & zone 6. The presentations contained the following information: 1. Sports Infrastructure available in the Government schools. 2. Details of sports activities undertaken by the schools. 3. Participation of schools (individual as well as team) at zonal level. 4. Participation of zonal teams at inter-zonal level. 5. Achievements in the last 2 years. 6. Proposed "Sports Development Plan" in the current year. After detailed deliberations, it was decided that there is a dire need of development of sports infrastructure as well as sports equipments in the Government schools of the Directorate. This can be made possible in the phased manner. The details of schools where the sports infrastructure is to be developed as well as sports equipments need to be provided in the 1 51 phase are enclosed herewith at Annexure II & Annexure III respectively. Besides this, the following issues were also discussed and the decisions taken therein are as under: 1. The Director of Education expressed the need of taking utmost care while undertaking sports practices in the playgrounds. It was decided that the detailed guidelines for the safety & security of the students will be issued by the sports branch. 2. It was decided that there should not be any school without any Physical Education Teacher irrespective of the fact whether he I she is a regular teacher or guest teacher, as the case may be. 3. It was brought to the notice of the Director of Education by a few Supervisors that the playgrounds available in the schools are not playable as they are not leveled and unwanted thick bushes, grasses etc. exist in it. It was decided that each Supervisor (Phy. Edn.) will issue necessary instructions to the schools under his I her jurisdiction to vigorously pursue the matter with concerned PWD engineers for leveling of the playgrounds and cleaning of the bushes, grasses etc., or get the same done from VKS fund.

3 4. The efforts need to be made for filling up of the vacant posts of Physical Education Teachers and make them available as per the teacher! student ratio. A proposal to create more posts of PETs as per latest ebse norms be also put up. 5. The Director of Education stressed that the sports material in the schools should be made available to the students for their usage. 6. The District Deputy Directors of Education expressed the need of having facility of Band contingent in couple of schools in each district which could not be provided as there are no sanctioned posts of Bandmasters. It was decided that sports branch will coordinate with Civil Defence and Home Guard, National Cadet Corps, Delh Police etc. for providing the facility of Bandmasters in the Government schools. 7. Some of the Supervisors informed that the existing kuccha playgrounds of the schools have been converted into pucca ground, as a result of which there is no space for the students to play. The students use pucca grounds to play but they get injured. It was decided that the existing kuccha ground should not be converted into pucca ground any more. It was also decided that the possibilities may also be explored by the Heads of the schools to convert pucca ground into kuccha ground so that the playgrounds are available to the students for playing facilities. 8. Some of the Supervisors informed that there is no open playground in a few schools. It was decided that in such schools, more and more indoor games should be made available. The students should also be taken to the nearby stadia! sports complexes for outdoor sports activities. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the chair. ~:',,\\'\ (SATPAL) Add!.
