The 16-1 record to open the season is the best since the 1988 season when that team went The 7-0 record to begin SBC play is the first time A-State has accomplished that feat under current head coach David Rehr. It s the first time since the 1996 season that an Arkansas State squad has opened SBC play 6-0, and that team went on to go 9-0 in SBC play. Arkansas State s Carlisa May was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Week for the fourth straight time and gave her six total SBC Weekly Awards on the year. May was second on the team with 22 kills (3.67 per set) over the weekend and registered a hitting percentage of.462. She had a career-high 26 kills against Little Rock Wednesday night. Setter Mallory Warrington collected her first Sun Belt Conference weekly award by winning the Setter of the Week for week six. She handed out 75 assists (12.50 per set) in the two wins for the Red Wolves. She handed out a season-high 57 assists and had a careerhigh 22 digs against Little Rock Wednesday night to give her a teamleading 11 double-doubles on the year. Arkansas State moved up to No. 22 in the PrepVolleyball.com Poll and is also ranked 16th in the first NCAA RPI report. A-State holds a record all-time in volleyball and is in its 41st season of play after beginning the sport in 1975.

A-State vs. Georgia Southern Series History The Red Wolves lead the all-time series with the Eagles by a count of 2-1 with all three meetings occurring in 2013 and later. The first meeting happened during the 2013 season at the Ole Miss Magnolia Invitational. Georgia Southern won the match by a score of 3-1 and the Eagles finished the season 28-6 with a trip to the NCAA Tournament out of the Southern Conference. The Red Wolves and Eagles met twice in 2014 as members of the Sun Belt Conference after Georgia Southern joined the league. A-State won 3-1 in Statesboro in its second SBC game a season ago before winning 3-1 in Jonesboro later in the year. All three meeting have come with David Rehr as head coach and the Red Wolves will play Georgia Southern later in the year at home on Oct. 30. Red Wolves Set Career Highs in Win Over LR Arkansas State defeated Little Rock Wednesday night to improve to 16-1 and 7-0 in SBC matches behind several season and career highs. Carlisa May set career highs in kills (26), attacks (55), and blocks (4). Her previous high in kills was 21 against Missouri State, which was also when her previous high in attacks was set with 40. She had three blocks earlier in the season twice. Mallory Warrington and Drew Jones both set career highs in digs with 22 and 17, respectively. Warrington s previous high was 21, which had happened twice in her career, and she also set a season high with 57 assists in the match. Jones had 15 digs for her previous high last season at South Alabama. Jones also tied career highs in assists (3) and service aces (4) against the Trojans. Darby Graff had a career-high 38 attacks and tied her career high with three digs Wednesday night. A-State Ranked No. 22 in PrepVolleyball Poll The Red Wolves moved up to No. 22 in this week s PrepVolleyball.com rankings, one spot from No. 23 a week ago. A-State was made a debut in the poll a few weeks ago at No. 33 and has gradually worked its way to No. 22. Arkansas State has defeated two teams that appear in the poll with A-State beating No. 36 Missouri State Sept. 9 by a score of 3-2 and No. 39 Saint Louis 3-0 on Aug. 29. A-State s only loss this season is to No. 23 Missouri, who is 12-1 with its only loss coming to Saint Louis. Red Wolves Debut at No. 16 in RPI Arkansas State is ranked 16th in the NCAA s first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) report that was released Monday. UT Arlington is the only other SBC school in the top-100 at 96th, while Saturday s opponent, Georgia Southern, is ranked 290th. May, Warrington Claim SBC Weekly Honors Arkansas State true freshman Carlisa May earned her fourth consecutive, and fifth overall, Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Week award during week six, while Mallory Warrington picked up her the first SBC Setter of the Week award in her career. May recorded 11 kills (3.67 per set) in each match on a combined.462 hitting percentage, while Warrington dished out 75 assists (12.50 per set) and also had two double-doubles. The Red Wolves have had nine weekly award winners so far this year, and that number rises to 10 if you include Markie Schaedig s nod as Preseason Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year. The 10 awards lead all Sun Belt Conference institutions. Digging with Schaedig Junior libero Markie Schaedig leads the team with 318 digs for a 5.21 per set average that ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference and 16th in the nation. The Little Rock, Ark., native led the team with 30 digs over the weekend in wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM. She was tied for the team lead in digs with 22 against Little Rock and had her second-highest assist total of the season with seven. Schaedig has won two SBC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week award this year (Weeks 1 and 3) to give her a total of seven for her career. Additionally, Schaedig has the second-most assists on the team with 68 and also has five service aces and four kills. Carlisa s Killing It A-State true freshman Carlisa May earned another SBC Freshman of the Week award for her performance over the past weekend in wins over ULL and ULM. She registered 22 kills (3.67 per set) on a.462 hitting percentage. The outside hitter had 11 kills against both opponents with a.533 hitting percentage against the Ragin Cajuns and a.417 mark against the Warhawks. She set a career high with 26 kills against Little Rock Wednesday night. The FOW award was May s fifth this year, which is a new school record. Jessica Uke had the record after picking up three Freshman of the Week awards a season ago. The Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week award and PrepVolleyball.com award were the first of her career. She was also named to the Golden Hurricane Classic All- Tournament team during that week. For the season May leads the team in kills (208) and kills per set with a 3.65 average, which also ranks as second best in the conference and 100th in the country. She is hitting at a.325 clip, second best on the team, with 31 digs and 19 blocks. Warrington Shares the Wealth A-State setter Mallory Warrington has been instrumental in the team s offensive success this season. She has dished out 692 assists with the second-best assists per set (11.34) mark in the conference. The per set average ranks as 17th best in the country. Warrington is the team s leader in double-doubles with 11 after picking up one against Little Rock Wednesday night (57 assists, 22 digs). She led the team with 23 double-doubles a season ago. She handed out 75 assists in the Red Wolves wins over ULL and ULM for a per set average to earn SBC Setter of the Week honors. She also had 21 digs, five kills, three blocks, and two service aces in the two matches. The Lake St. Louis, Mo., native has proven to be a valuable allaround player in In addition to her setting numbers, she is second on the team in digs with 181 (2.97 per set) and is second on the team with 14 service aces. She s also added 55 kills and 20 blocks. Warrington earned her first career all-tournament accolades and MVP honor at the Golden Hurricane Classic Sept Keeping Up With Drew Jones A-State sophomore Drew Jones is second on the team in kills with 206 (3.38 per set) and has the team lead in service aces with 21 against only seven service errors. The kills per set mark is ranked sixth in the Sun Belt Conference and she leads the SBC in attacks per set with an average that also ranks as 35th most in the nation. She is also third on the team in blocks (30) and third in digs (128). The Fort Smith, Ark., native is the only other player for the Red Wolves, aside from Mallory Warrington, to register a doubledouble this season with four of her own, the most recent happening Wednesday versus Little Rock with 17 kills and 17 digs. A Side of Reis Junior middle blocker Kelsey Reis, tied for the tallest player on the team with Anna Murphy at 6-3, is making her presence felt

The Smithton, Ill., native only has three block errors on the season and is fourth on the team with 100 kills. She had nine kills against Little Rock Wednesday on a.615 hitting percentage. Additionally, Reis is hitting.469 in SBC matches, which is tops in the conference. Graff Adjusting Nicely Redshirt junior Darby Graff has had little trouble transitioning to the Red Wolves after transferring from Texas A&M in the offseason. She leads the team with a.342 hitting percentage and is third on the team with 189 kills (3.10 per set) after tallying 17 against Little Rock Wednesday. The hitting percentage ranks fourth in the Sun Belt Conference and 117th in the nation. The Hallsville, Texas native is second on the team with 41 blocks, including 10 block solos, and she has also tallied 27 digs on the defensive side. Team Rankings The Red Wolves rank in the top three in the conference in every major category except service aces, but are first in aces in conference matches with 39 total and a 1.50 per set average. A-State is first in opponent hitting percentage (.147) and digs (16.02 per set) in the SBC.
