THE UAB SERIES: The A-State/UAB alltime series is tied 5-5 with UAB taking the last two meetings. In the last meeting between the schools, the Blazers defeated the Red Wolves 3-2 in the 2011 Samford/UAB Tournament. THE BELMONT SERIES: Arkansas State leads the all-time series against Belmont 6-1, but Belmont s lone win against the Red Wolves came in the last meeting between the two schools, a 3-1 decision in THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SERIES: A- State leads the all-time series against the Bulldogs by a count of 18-6, with the Red Wolves earning a 3-1 victory in Starkville the last time to two schools met in CAN YOU DIG IT: Senior Libero Megan Baska recorded a season-high 29 digs against Memphis. She now has 1,740 career digs and is second on the all-time career digs list at Arkansas State. She passed Tessa Millikan s 1,669 career digs for second place with her 15th dig in the Ole Miss match Sept. 7. SENSATIONAL SADIE: Senior Sadie Clark continues to lead the Red Wolves in kills with 123 and kills per set with a 3.15 average. She recorded kills on the last three A-State points against Memphis in Belmont (4-9) Saturday, Sept :30 p.m. CDT Series: A-State leads 6-1 Mississippi State (7-4) Saturday, Sept. 21 3:30 p.m. CDT Series: A-State leads 18-6 the fourth set to clinch the match victory for the Red Wolves. ALL-TOURNAMENT CLARK, TAKE TWO: Sadie Clark made her second consecutive all-tournament team by making the Hampton Inn Bama Bash All-Tournament team. She was tied for the lead in kills over the weekend with 27 and led the team in kills per set with a 3.00 average. ALL-TOURNAMENT ACCOLADES FOR GERIG: Setter Jackie Gerig recorded her first al-tournament selection of the year at the Hampton Inn Bama Bash. She had 76 assists for an 8.44 assists per set average. SERVING WITH SARAH: Junior Sarah Kemp leads the Red Wolves with 15 service aces and is ranked third in the SBC. SERVICE ACE CRNCIC: Senior Shelby Crncic is second on the team in service aces with 12 with only five service errors. CONFERENCE RANKINGS: Sadie Clark is ranked sixth in the SBC in kills per set with her 3.15 average while Kelsey Sullivan s.310 hitting percentage is sixth best in the conference. A SIDE OF REIS: Freshman Kelsey Reis leads A-State freshmen in kills (56) and tota blocks (29). She leads the team in block solos with five. DIGGING WITH SCHAEDIG: Freshman Markie Schaedig is second on the team in digs with 77 on the year.

St WKU UALR USA UTA Troy A-State Ga. St ULM BLOCK PARTY: Kelsey Sullivan led the Red Wolves with six blocks against Memphis. She is the team leader in blocks on the season with 37 and blocks per set with a 0.93 average. SETTING IT UP: Jackie Gerig leads the Red Wolves with 316 assists on the season, which comes out to a 8.32 assists per set average. SULLIVAN S GREAT WEEKEND: Senior Kelsey Sullivan was awarded a place on the Missouri Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team for her performance. She registered 33 kills with an outstanding.360 attacking percentage and also added seven blocks over the tournament s four matches. NEW ASSISTANTS: The Red Wolves have two new assistant coaches for the 2013 season. Susie Jangada joins the A- State staff after spending one season at Jacksonville University. Tessa McGill joins the staff after lettering the past four seasons at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. FRESH FACES: The Red Wolves welcome 10 newcomers to this year s squad. Of the 10, two are transfers, while the other eight are true freshmen. FAMILIAR FACE: Senior setter Jackie Gerig transferred to A-State from LSU prior to this season, but is the only player on the roster to have played multiple seasons under Coach Rehr because of her time at Blinn Junior College in 2010 and THE GREAT EIGHT: The Red Wolves feature players from eight different states this season. The states represent are Arkansas (1), Illinois (2), Indiana (1), Iowa (1), Kansas (4), Missouri (2), Nebraska (1), and Texas (5). SHORTEST TO TALLEST: Senior Shelby Crncic has the distinction of being the shortest player on the A-State roster this season coming in at 5 5, while there is a tie for tallest Red Wolf between redshirt freshman Hannah McRee and freshman Kelsey Reis with both registering a height of 6 3. SIBLING RIVALRY: Megan Baska s brother, David Baska, is entering his senior season as a punter on the Air Force Academy football squad and has also lettered two years on the Falcon baseball team. IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY: Senior Jackie Gerig has seven siblings and all of them are volleyball players. Four of them have played or are currently playing college volleyball. CLARK S DIVISION I FAMILY: Division I sports are not uncommon to Sadie Clark and the rest of her family. Her father, Steve, played football at Kansas State before playing in the NFL. Her older sister Destiny played volleyball at Arkansas and older brother Zac played football at Oregon. Currently, her younger brother Trace is playing football at Oklahoma State. BASKING IN THE GLORY: Senior libero Megan Baska has already set the Sun Belt Conference record for Defensive Player of the Week awards in a career with 10. PRESEASON POLL: Arkansas State finished in a tie for fourth place in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Red Wolves and Texas State both received 64 points. CONFERENCE CHANGES: For the 2013 season, the Sun Belt Conference will use a double round-robin format where each team will play each other twice. With 10 members in the conference, this will equal 18 conference matches for the Red Wolves. The SBC also welcomes three new members to the conference in Georgia State, Texas State, and UT Arlington. LAST TIME OUT: MEMPHIS, Tenn. (9/17/13) The Arkansas State volleyball team improved to 4-7 on the season with a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22) win over rival Memphis (6-4) at Elma Roane Fieldhouse Tuesday night. In the first set, A-State was the first team to get to 10 points on a Memphis attacking error. The Tigers came back and appeared to take control of the match at After an A-State timeout, a Tiger attacking error sparked an ASU 9-1 run, culminated by another Tiger attacking error, that allowed the Red Wolves to win the first

A-State fought back to get within three points at on a Sadie Clark kill, but the Tigers earned the next point to quell the A-State comeback attempt. With the match tied 1-1, A-State and Memphis went back and forth for a tie to start off the third set. A 3-0 run, capped by a Jackie Gerig kill, gave A-State a advantage and forced a Memphis timeout. Memphis was able to get within two points at on an ASU attacking error. The Red Wolves stepped up and responded with a 5-1 run to win the third set by a score of A very intense fourth set occurred with the Red Wolves leading 2-1. Neither team had a lead of more than two points and was tied before A-State took control. A 5-2 run, culminated by a kill from Sarah Kemp gave the Red Wolves a lead and allowed A-State to take control. A kill by Kelsey Sullivan gave A- State a lead and Clark registered the last three points for the Red Wolves on kills to give A-State a set victory and a 3-1 match win over the Tigers. It was a great win against our rival, A-State volleyball coach David Rehr said. It was a great match against an opponent from a major conference. We re starting to compete better and it s moving us forward to where we want to go. Clark led the Red Wolves in kills with 11, while Sullivan and Kemp added nine of their own. Gerig led the team in assists with 44 and added 14 digs. Megan Baska paced the Red Wolves with 29 digs and Sullivan led A-State with six blocks during the match.
