On the floor, she provides the team with a great serve and passing ability. - Head Coach Karen NICOLE BLUMHORST 5-8 SO./1L DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST BOERNE, TEXAS BOERNE HS AHCA VOLLEYBALL CLUB Despite seeing limited time, earned the Bobcat Pride Award at the conclusion of the season for her hard work and inspiriation to the program...blumhorst appeared in 16 matches and 22 games for Texas State, averaging 0.41 digs Totaled nine digs and two assists on the year, both of which came at Nicholls State Set a season- and career-high for digs with four at Northwestern State, while posting two digs at Texas-Pan American and in a home match with NSU...Also attempted two attacks on the year in limited action at the net. Blumhorst redshirted the season. BOERNE HS Blumhorst was a two-time letter winner at the middle blocker position under Head Coach Troy Errington She was a member of back-to-back District 27-4A champions in 2002 and 2003 Her team reached the Regional Quarterfinals in 2002 and the Regional Finals in 2003 Blumhorst was a two-time Academic All-District selection Named All-District Honorable Mention in 2002 and All-District Second-Team selection in 2003 She was named the team s Most Inspirational Player in 2003 She was also the team captain during the 2003 season. Has two brothers, Rodney (30) and Marlon (24)... Lawrencia has not declared her major. 12 T he Texas State Volleyball team participates in many community service events during the academic year, working with kids and adults throughtout the San Marcos area on several projects. During the -06 academic school year, the community service projects that Texas State volleyball student-athletes are actively involved in include: READ WITH THE CATS The Read with the Cats program is designed to encourage youth to read more books. It is an incentive program that provides gifts for reading 25, 50 and 100 books. The program is sponsored by HEB. ADOPT-A-SCHOOL WITH SMCISD The Adopt-a-School Program, in conjunction with Partners in Education and the principals of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, was initiated to create programs that have an overall positive experience for the children and the studentathletes. Each Texas State team was assigned to a school in the SMCISD and is responsible for creating fun and innovative programs. HUMANE SOCIETY The Texas State Volleyball Camp initiated an item drive to benefit the Humane Society last season. Each camper brought an item to benefit the San Marcos Humane Society. BOBCAT BUILD Bobcat Build is a project where Texas State student-athletes assist in helping to clean up low-income neighborhoods in the San Marcos area. The student-athletes assisted with the collecting and dumping of trash and yard clippings, among other service projects. M ake volleyball a part of your summer plans, as you improve your volleyball skills through the instruction of an elite group of coaches and staff at the Karen Chisum Volleyball Camps at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. We are pleased and excited to offer aspiring athletes one of the strongest instructional volleyball experiences in the nation, Chisum said. Our camp has become one of the most popular and successful camps running, with athletes returning each year for additional training. The Karen Chisum camps rank among the largest in the state, including their newest addition, a third-session summer team camp. These camps are designed to provide the best instruction for players of all ages and abilities in a structured, enthusiastic and fun environment. Highlighting the camp s top-notch facilities is the 7,200-seat Strahan Coliseum. Home of the & Southland Conference Tournament Champion Texas State Bobcats, Strahan has been labeled as one of the premier volleyball venues in the country. Other camp features include: exceptional coaches and instructors selected for their ability to teach the fundamentals and strategies of the game, nightly team competitions, a 10-to-1 playerto-coach ratio, 18 air-conditioned indoor courts, athletic training staff and a camp tournament on the last afternoon of each session.
