1 ~ ATHLETIC NEWS ~ September 11, 2013 Maple East Noble (Football) 7 th Grade: The 7 th Grade Bobcat football team beat East Noble last night Gaven Vogt ran for a 57 yard touchdown on the second play of the game. Costly Bobcat penalties and mistakes kept the game close through most of the 1 st half of play. Luke Owens intercepted his 1 st of 2 East Noble passes at the Bobcat 8 yard line with the Knights threatening to score. On the last play of the half, Bryce Pelkington scored on a pass from Vogt to make the halftime score The Bobcat Defense came up big in the second half with both Bryce Ginder and Owens incepting passes and returning them for touchdowns. The defense also had 2 fumble recoveries by Pelkington and Reis Schrock on a nice strip by Adam Wirges. Daniel McKeeman rounded out the Bobcat scoring with a touchdown run. The Bobcats travel to DeKalb Tuesday for a battle of undefeated teams. 8 th Grade: The 8 th grade bobcats got a big win last night at East Noble by the score of Nick Ridgeway dominated on special teams and defense. Trevor Thornson had a key interception. Beau Anzini was perfect on extra point attempts. The offensive and defensive line did a really nice job all night. Nolan Smith, Corbin Shoppell, Zane Standridge, Dillon Outman and Collin Villanueva did an excellent job most of the night blocking much larger players. The cheerleaders were awesome all night. Thanks for the support and join us next week at DeKalb. September 14, 2013 Maple Indian Springs Invitational (Cross Country) The girls cross-country team won both the varsity and reserve races Saturday at the Indian Springs Invite. The Lady Bobcats defeated 25 other teams. The varsity won by 14 points and placed all 7 runners in the top 26 of a race that had 174 finishers. Finishing first for Maple Creek was Cali Geiger who placed second overall in 11:07. Meagan Hathaway was 5th, Leah Metzger 9th, Rayna Fruchey 12th, Leslie Eckerley 16th, Molly Duffner 22nd, and Clara Lietzke 26th. The reserve team shut out all its competitors with a perfect score of 15 points. The Bobcats captured the first 5 places to get that perfect score. Second place was 77 points behind them. Winning the race was Caitlyn Fisher, Zoe Davis 2nd, Julia Till 3rd, Hannah Loeffler 4th and Alyssa Kimes 5th. Also placing was Raegan Tippey 13th, Jess Jeffries 19th, Emily Sullins 26th and Sydney Carpenter 30th. This race featured 236 runners. The boys varsity ran into 2 very tough Westview and Wawasee teams and finished 3rd out of 26 teams. Leading the Bobcats was Conner Goetz 4th, Hunter Wallace 7th, Draven Thompson 12th, Ethan McCall 29th, Chase Miguel 34th, Michael Frank 37th and Cory Waldron 40th. This race featured 169 runners. The reserve boys won their race by 19 points over second place Westview. Winning the race was Cooper Green, Nate Steensma was 4th, Austin Kresl 7th, Nic Hoy 8th, Sam Burchett 10th, Cooper Young 11th, Joe Just 14th, Evan Kreilach 16th, Jack Just 17th, Hayden Mullett 20th, Logan Meyer 22nd, and Sebastian Zazueta 24th This race featured 227 runners. September 17, 2013 Maple Creek (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team played their first game last night against Woodside. The girls had a wonderful match winning 25-7 and In our two games combined we had 19 aces! Leading in aces was Rhya Swoverland with 10. Also contributing tuff serves was Riley Summers, Karsyn Moller, Grace Garrison, and Anna Frey. Way to start out the season girls! We continue our season tonight playing our first road game against Blackhawk at 4:30. 8th Grade: The 8 th grade volleyball team opened their season with a conference victory last night against Woodside 2-0. In the first set, we had a hard time warming up our vocal chords which allowed the Warriors to keep it close. Ellee Ruskaup started to heat up and brought the team back to life with 3 big kills and aces winning (25-22). In the second game, Ari Bollinger jumped all over the opposing team with 4 big aces and set the tone for the rest of game #2. Also chipping in were Laney Steckler,

2 Macy Miller and Julia Miller with 2 kills each. We won game # Lucy Conser had several nice angle shots and our setters Alexis Kostka, Conser, Miller, Kelli Damman, and Sydney Jackson put some great sets where our attackers could go after them. Thanks for all of the fans that came out to support the team last night! September 17, 2013 Maple DeKalb (Football) 7 th Grade: In a clash of undefeated teams, the 7 th grade Bobcat football team traveled to DeKalb. The Bobcats came out early with great runs by Gaven Vogt who capped off the 1 st drive with a touchdown pass to Blake Pocock. Dan McKeeman intercepted a pass on DeKalb s 1 st drive which led to a Vogt touchdown run. In the 2 nd quarter, the Bobcats scored on a quarterback sneak after a long drive. With DeKalb driving the ball deep in Bobcat territory, the Bobcat defense came up big again when Pocock stripped the ball from the DeKalb running back and Noah Reichenbach recovered the fumble. Halftime score In the 3 rd quarter McKeeman scored on a touchdown pass from Vogt making the score Then back came DeKalb, scoring once in the 3 rd to make it Following a Bobcat fumble of a DeKalb kickoff, DeKalb scored at the start of the 4th quarter. The Bobcats were forced to punt on their next possession and DeKalb scored once more making the score With some costly penalties, the offense was unable to move the ball and gave DeKalb one more chance, but the defense stood tall and held DeKalb at midfield. The offense took over again with just over 3 minutes remaining and was able to run out the clock. Final score, Bobcats 24 DeKalb 19. The Bobcats play their 1 st home game this Tuesday vs Indian Springs. 8 th Grade: The 8 th grade bobcats defeated DeKalb Middle School last night Reed Diller, Jack Miguel passing, Jonathan and Justin Becker, Braxton Gropengieser, and Nicholas Ridgeway all contributed in the scoring. Beau Anzini was 3 for 5 on P. A. T. attempts. The Hit of the night came from Christian Olney on special teams. Zack Melendez had the tackle of the night on Defense. Turnovers were an issue for the bobcats all night which kept the game close going into the fourth quarter. Again, the cheerleaders did a fantastic job all night and we really appreciate all they do for our boys. September 18, Maple Creek w/indian Springs & New Haven (Cross Country) Maple Creek Girls Varsity was edged out by Indian Springs by a mere 2 points Wednesday night. Highlights were Cali Geiger coming in at 2nd, Meagan Hathaway pacing at 3rd, followed by Leah Metzger in 4th. The boys team scored a perfect 15! Connor Goetz took first place with Hunter Wallace close behind, Draven Thompson 3rd, Michael Frank 4th as Cory Waldron rounds out the top five. Both boy's and girl's junior varsity came out on top with team victories. First for the boys was Nic Hoy and first for the girls was Hannah Loeffler. September 18, 2013 Maple Blackhawk Middle (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team earned their first road win last night against Blackhawk Middle School. The girls won and Leading the team in kills with 3 each was Karsyn Moller and Jordan Martin. Way to go ladies! Let s keep our winning streak alive tonight against DeKalb! 8th Grade: Last night the 8 th grade Volleycats traveled to Blackhawk Middle School and had a tough challenge, but won 2 games to 1. In the first set we jumped out to a big lead that Blackhawk couldn t catch up from thanks to 3 aces from Ellee Ruskaup, and 2 aces from Julia Miller and Alexis Kostka. Also helping dominate in the first game was Laney Steckler with two kills winning (25-14). In the second set, it was back and forth the whole time with the Blackhawk team stepping their game up and we lost In the third and decisive game, Ari Bolinger had 3 HUGE kills and Lucy Conser had a great serving run

3 helping us get to the finish line first with a final score of Way to keep fighting ladies! It was a fun match with many runs and big plays! Let s keep our undefeated streak going tonight as we travel up the road to DeKalb. September 19, 2013 Maple DeKalb Middle (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team played DeKalb Middle School last night. The girls had another dominating performance winning and Carsyn Houser had an outstanding night serving with 15 aces in game two. The ladies are off to a wonderful start and we re excited for the upcoming week s challenges. Keep up the hard work girls! 8th Grade: The 8 th grade volleyball team kept their undefeated season alive last night winning at DeKalb 2-0. Game #1 we jumped out to a large lead thanks to aces and kills from Kelli Damman, Julia Miller, and Ellee Ruskaup. We finished the first game with a score of In the second set we dug an early hole that we had to climb out of due to too many unforced errors which brought the Patriots back to life. Midway through game #2, Lucy Conser came into the match and gave us a huge lift on defense and then had 2 BIG aces to swing the momentum back to our side. Finishing up the second game was Ruskaup who racked up 4 aces and several others that the DeKalb team just couldn t handle. In the third game Caroline Rumpz had 4 aces and Macy Miller had her best kill of the season! Good conference win ladies! Keep working hard and your efforts will continue to pay off! Get some rest this weekend and be ready for three more matches next week. Please come pack the gym next Tuesday and Wednesday as we bring it back to Maple Creek for two home matches. September 21, 2013 Maple West Noble Invitational (Cross Country) The girls cross-country team avenged its only loss this year by defeating Indian Springs and 27 other teams thus winning the West Noble Invite. Cali Geiger lead the Bobcat attack with a 2nd place overall finish in a time of 11:22. Meagan Hathaway was 5th, Leah Metzger 9th, Rayna Fruchey 13th, Clara Lietzke 17th, Molly Duffner 19th and Zoe Davis 21st. There were over 200 runners in this race. Julia Till led the reserve team to victory with a time of 12:14. The reserve team captured 6 of the first 7 places. This race had over 285 runners. The boys varsity ran a very tough field and placed second only to undefeated Westview. Connor Goetz led the team with a 4th place finish in 10:24, followed by Hunter Wallace in 7th, Draven Thompson 9th, Michael Frank 20th, Cooper Green 31st, Chase Miguel 32nd and Ethan McCall 38th. This race featured 26 teams and 191 runners. The reserve team easily won the reserve race taking 9 of the first 15 places. Cory Waldron was the overall winner with a time of 11:15. This race had over 200 runners. September 24, 2013 Indian MC (Football) 7 th Grade: The 7 th Grade Bobcat football team punched its ticket into the championship game with a victory over their final North Division foe, Indian Springs. Gaven Vogt scored twice on touchdown runs of 34 & 44 yards. Dan McKeeman also scored on a touchdown run and added two extra point scores. Blake Pocock had an interception and the defense had a shutout for 3 and ½ quarters before giving up two late touchdowns. Final score Bobcats 20, Indian Springs 14. Two regular season games remain vs the top 2 South Division teams before the championship game on October 15 th here at the Den. The Bobcats travel to undefeated Woodside next week.

4 8 th Grade: The 8 grade bobcats rolled past Indian Springs last night by the score of The bobcats got contributions th from everyone after falling behind 7-0 to start the game. Christian Olney scored on a QB sneak. Blake Eley had a pick six. Braxton big Dawg Gropengieser had a touchdown and the block of the night on a huge crack block. The unit of the night goes to the green defenders who after entering the game put the Indian Springs offense on lockdown! The field looked awesome so thanks to Mr. Moore and his staff for making that happen. As always the cheerleaders did a fantastic job and we are very appreciative. September 24, 2013 MC (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team played Norwell Middle School last night. All the girls did a great job of doing their part to defeat Norwell and We had another fantastic serving match with a total of 20 aces. Way to go Madi Alday! Madi had one of our teams first big blocks of the season! The girls play Crestview tonight at 5. Come out and support the team! 8th Grade: The girls won. No report given. September 25, 2013 Summit w/ Carroll & East Noble (Cross Country) The boys and girls cross country teams easily defeated Summit and Carroll Middle schools yesterday. Winning the girls meet was Cali Geiger with a time of 11:31; 2 nd was Meagan Hathaway, 4 th Leah Metzger, 5 th Julia Till, 6 th Rayna Fruchey, 8 th Clara Lietzke and Molly Duffner 10 th. Connor Goetz won the boys race in 10:23, Hunter Wallace 3 rd, Michael Frank 4 th, Cooper Green 6 th, Cory Waldron 8 th, Chase Miguel 9 th, Ethan McCall 10 th. September 25, MC w/ Crestview (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team played Crestview Middle School last night. This was by far the toughest match we ve had all season. Although Crestview was very scrappy and had tough serving, it wasn t enough to bring our team down. We defeated Crestview and We had great leadership and kills by both Jordan Martin and Anna Frey. Way to go Bobcats! 7th grade girls travel to East Noble tonight. 8 th Grade: The girls won. No report given. September 26, 2013 East Noble (Volleyball) 7th Grade: The 7th grade volleyball team played East Noble Middle School last night. We started off really slow falling quickly down The momentum picked up on our side thanks to wonderful passing and hitting by Anna Frey and Rhya Swoverland. Rhya ended her night with 7 aces and 3 kills. We ended up defeated East Noble and This win makes us now 6 and 0 for the season; keep up the hard work lady bobcats! Next game will be Monday at St. Charles. 8th Grade: Did someone pull the fire alarm because the 8 th grade VolleyCats are on FIRE!! The team has remained undefeated for over a year now, and showing no signs of slowing down. This week we had strong showings in three matches against Norwell, Crestview, and East Noble winning each match 2 games to 0. Over the course of the week here are combined stats for some of the ladies: *Alexis Kostka dropping the hammer with 13 kills and 7 aces *Lucy Conser punching in 8 kills and 4 aces *Ellee Ruskaup smashing 8 kills and 5 aces *Ari Bollinger with 4 kills and 9 aces *Laney Steckler chipped in 4 kills and 5 aces
