Wanessa Siqueira was Park s offensive leader, helping the Pirates reach 35-0 with 17 kills and a.536 hitting performance, while Raissa Herczfeld reached double-digits on the final play of the match, ending the afternoon with 10 kills and.400 hitting on 20 attacks. Juliana Barros had assists on 43 of Park s 54 kills, and Daniela Duarte led all defensive players with 19 digs, while both Romero and Barros added doubledouble performances with 11 digs. She will look for a school-record 70th Wednesday when Park meets Eastern Oregon University at 1 p.m. Park claimed five of the first seven points in the match and led 8-4 in the opening set when Barros found Siqueira on the right side, but Evangel was back quickly, scoring the next five points to take a 9-8 lead on a kill by Jackie Fugate. Park fell in a set for only the third time in 36 matches, a record that now has the Pirates at 36-0 with a 37-match win streak. Katina Ferguson had 13 kills and hit.360 for the Mountaineers, who fell to 28-5, but her outing didn t stack up to Romero, who hit.468. Wanessa Siqueira added 15 kills for the Pirates and matched Romero with four blocks, and Daniela Duarte had a secondstraight outstanding defensive match with 18 digs. Juliana Barros ended the afternoon with 40 assists and added two blocks. Not known for its defense, instead for a high-powered offense, the Pirates had to get defensive in Wednesday s match while still allowing the Mountaineers top player, Casey Loper, a 12-kill, 10-dig double-double. EOU hit.181 in the match and Park avoided upset despite hitting.199, adding 15 digs from Raissa Herczfeld and equaling the Mountaineers at the net with seven blocks. EOU hit.500 in the third set, jumping out to a 6-3 lead before Siqueira brought the Pirates back with an ace, giving Park a 9-8 lead. EOU managed the next five points after the ace to build a 13-9 lead, and the Mountaineers were in front after another run (4-0), going in front by seven on an errant Siqueira attack. Herczfeld had a big point late for the Pirates, victimizing Piper Cantrell for an ace, but after a kill by Romero, the Mountaineers put the set away when Kentra De Hoog scored one of her 2.5 points, handing Park a loss. Aside from her 25 kills, Romero was also the story of the match for the Pirates with her 70th service ace of the season, breaking Gabriela Carvalho s 9-year-old record from the 2005 season and building a lead for the Pirates in the opening set. Eastern Oregon fought back to within seven points twice on kills by Ferguson and Loper, but Barros found Sabrina e Silva to end the frame Park needed a 6-1 run to separate the second, taking a lead when Alves and Siqueira stopped Ferguson at the net, and the lead went back to eight points when Romero went for back-to-back kills, putting Park a point away from a 2-0 lead in the match up An errant dump by Barros gave EOU its final point of the second, and Barros atoned for the mistake a play later, feeding Siqueira for the set winner, The Pirates looked like they might run away in the fourth, scoring five of the first seven points, but Eastern Oregon went up 8-6 on a 6-1 run, taking a two-point lead when Rachelle Chamberlain s serve fell off Duarte s fists for an ace. Neither team led by more than three points in the third, as Park went up on esilva s ace, but the Pirates also only trailed three times over the remainder of the set, the last time at when Duarte s serve fell short of the tape.

The Pirates had to overcome a sloppy start in the match when Raissa Herczfeld put the first serve of the contest in to the net before Romero misfired on passing Kelly Nakandakari s ace, but Park had the next three points and used a 5-0 run to go in front 8-3, using Siqueira s kill to force a Grand View timeout. The lead reached seven when Herczfeld earned a kill on a blocking error by Brie Winegar, but Winegar was in on a block two rallies later, sparking a run that eventually had the Vikings within three points. Taylor Wells was able to cut Park s lead to 23-20, capping a 5-0 run, but GVU halted its own momentum with an error, and Siqueira claimed the set two plays later, a win. Park was up early again in the second, a triumph, building a 7-2 lead that eventually reached 11-4 on back-to-back Grand View errors. The Pirates never trailed in the set and led by as many as nine (20-11) on consecutive blocks from Shahtout and Collins, but the Vikings used a 4-0 run to cut in to the lead, getting back within four points on a Park error that made it Two plays later, though, Romero was able to put the set away with a kill, handing Park its 110th set victory of the season on the way to a record in 114 sets this season.
