2 TCSAA CITY VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 The Executive of the West Region Athletic Association and the Physical and Health Education Department wish to welcome the 16 teams from across the City who have qualified for the TCSAA City Volleyball Championships. This year the Volleyball Championships will be held at Humber College-North Campus. In order to minimize the inconvenience for our hosts, the following information should be noted: (A) (B) (C) (D) (E) (F) Girls Championship- Tuesday November 24, 9am-4 pm Boys Championship- Thursday, November 26, 9am-4pm Coaches are reminded of their responsibility to ensure that players are supervised at all times. Please also ensure that all students involved in the tournaments have signed media consent forms on file at the school. Prior to the arrival at Humber College, players should be made aware of their responsibilities as guests. Teams may purchase lunches in the school cafeteria. Please have an adult accompany the students to the cafeteria. There will be seating in the facility for student spectators if a school wishes to bring some supportive fans. Please reinforce the role of a guest with the spectators prior to arrival. Each school is asked to bring 2 copies of team lineups (names and numbers) for a media handout. TEAMS ARE TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN FIRST AID KIT AND WARM-UP BALLS. (G) Parking procedures for Humber have changed. 3 TOURNAMENT RULES 1) All matches will be played according to the 2015 O.V.A. rules, plus any in house rules or adjustments to pools or rotations. TCSAA will not be using Libero 2) Net height will be 2.05m for girls and 2.15m for boys. 3) Regulation Baden, Wilson, or Tachikara volleyballs will be used. 4) All players must wear numbered school uniforms. Please ensure your athletes have proper footwear. For safety reasons, no jewelry will be permitted. Track pants and bandanas are not allowed. 5) Official scoresheets must be completed prior to each game. Starting players must be indicated in the proper rotational order. 6) In the event games do not last their scheduled length, convenors may move matches forward. Therefore, teams should be prepared to play AHEAD of their scheduled time. Teams arriving 15 minutes past the scheduled starting time for their match will forfeit their first game (25-0). Teams arriving 30 min. late, or do not show for their match, will also forfeit the second game (25-0). 7) A serve that hits the net is a live ball. 8) Servers will have the opportunity to continue tossing a ball and allowing it to drop if they feel that it was not a proper toss. They will be allowed 8 seconds to serve the ball and may only repeat the toss one time. They must not catch the ball if they do not feel that the toss was appropriate to hit. They must let the toss drop and then repeat their service attempt. No third attempt at serve will be allowed. NOTE 9) There will be 12 unlimited substitutions permitted. However, if you put a substitute in for an original player, the original player is the only person that can replace the substitute (this can occur a total of 12 times throughout the set). 10) No contact with the volleyball is allowed below the waist. All contact below the waist is a fault. 11) Incidental contact of the net by an individual, who is not playing the ball, will not result in a stop in play. 12) Any part of the body (except the feet) is permitted to totally cross the centre line as long as there is no interference with the opponent s play. It remains illegal to do so with 1 foot (or both feet) by completely crossing the centre line. 13) Two 30 second time-outs are permitted per team each game. 14) A yellow card is a loss of rally and a point for the opponents. A red card means expulsion for the remainder of the set (game). A red and yellow card jointly issued means disqualification for remainder of the match.

4 TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE (O.V.A) If two or more teams within a pool, are tied at the end of the preliminary round, the following criteria will be followed in this order: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) The team having the best ratio of won/lost matches, considering matches between the tied teams, will be ranked higher; The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering matches played between the tied teams, will be ranked higher; The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering all matches of the round, will be ranked higher; The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering games played between the tied teams, will be ranked higher; The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering all games played during the round robin, will be ranked higher; One tie breaking 15-point rally game (17-point cap) will be played. Team must win by 2 points. NOTE: (1) Teams will not be eliminated from playoffs due to point ratio. If two teams are tied for one final spot assuming they split their match- one 15- point rally game (17 point cap) will be played to determine a winner. (2) In the case of a 3-way tie for two playoff positions, point ratio will be used to determine the first position. The other 2 tied teams will play one 15-point rally game to determine the final position. (3) In the case of a 3-way tie for the final position, point ratio will be used to determine team A (the team with the best points ratio), the other two teams will play one 15 point game (17 point cap). The winner will play team A, in another 15 point game, for the final playoff spot. (4) There is no warm up; score sheets are not used; lineup and visuals will only be used.

ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION Pool A will play on Court 1 Pool B will play on Court 2 Each group will play a preliminary round within their pool. Preliminary round matches will consist of two games to 25 points with a cap of 27. The first and second place teams in each pool advance to a cross over semi final round. Semi final and final round matches will be the best 2 out of 3 games to 25 points with a cap of 27. Third game to 15 points with a cap of 17.
