1 GREYSTONE AND WOODHAVEN SENIOR VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT Oct. 18/19/ Preliminary Round The 16 boys and 16 girls teams have been placed into four preliminary pools each consisting of four teams. A complete round robin will be played in each pool. Each match will be a best of 3, with a cap at 27 for the first 2 sets and a cap at 17 for the third set. The results for the preliminary round will determine placement in the Play-Off Round. Play-Off Round The top two teams in each pool will move to the hip Round. The third and fourth place teams from each pool will advance to the Consolation Round. Each match will be a best of 3, with a cap at 27 for the first 2 sets and no cap for the third set. TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: 1. Date: Thursday, Oct. 18 th, Friday, Oct. 19 th, and Saturday, Oct. 20 th, Place: Greystone Middle School, Woodhaven Middle School, Spruce Grove Composite High School (all in Spruce Grove, Alberta). 3. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 4 matches (3 round robin and 1 playoff) 4. Round Robin - best of 3 sets with a cap of 27 for the first 2 games and a cap of 17 for the third. Playoffs - best of 3 sets with a cap of 27 on the first 2 sets and no cap for the third. 5. Libero may be used. May change from set to set. 6. Net height: Boys 2.24m Girls 2.15m 7. Referees will be provided. 8. Each team must provide 1 linesman and 1 scorekeeper for their own match. 9. First touch off a serve can be either a forearm pass (bump) or an overhead pass (set) 10. There will be coach's rooms at Greystone and Woodhaven on Friday night and Saturday. 11. In order to stay on schedule we will have a five minute warm-up with a one minute break in between games. 12. Prizes will be awarded. Round Robin Tie Breaking Procedures: As per VC tie breaking procedures in Volleyball Canada rule book, if 2 or more teams are tied, the tiebreaking criteria is applied one after the other until the tie is broken: a) The team with the best ratio of won/lost matches, considering matches between the tied teams only, will be ranked higher. b) The team with the best ratio of won/lost games, considering matches between the tied teams only, will be ranked higher. c) The team with the best ratio of won/lost games, considering all scheduled matches, will be ranked higher. d) The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering only games played between the tied teams will be ranked higher. e) The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering all games played during the round will be ranked higher.
