Thursday 1 st March Glen Waverley Community Centre, 700 Waverley Rd, Glen Waverley $15.00 = For The Disco Only $35.00 = Activities & Dinner Between 3pm and 6pm Included* Spending Money Optional. If the participant requires assistance or support Fruit and/or biscuits and drinks provided. If the participant has any specific dietary requirements, please contact the Recreation Manager. 2. Lantern Festival At Queen Vic Market Falling on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, Lantern Festival has become a much-loved city-wide event. Join the fun and celebrations at Queen Vic Market, with cultural performances, family friendly activities, cooking workshops and demonstrations, stalls, food and entertainment galore. Saturday 3 rd March Queen Victoria Market, Corner Elizabeth/Victoria St, Melbourne 10.00am 3.00pm $20.00 Please bring a packed lunch and bottle of water. Wear sunscreen and weather appropriate clothing. Be sure to bring your camera. 3. Ten Pin Bowling For some friendly competition and the opportunity to practice your bowling skills. Thursday 8 th March Strike, Century City Walk, 285 Springvale Rd, Glen Waverley 3150 Phone: $25.00 = For Ten Pin Bowling Only (2 Games + Shoe Hire) $45.00 = Activities & Dinner Between 3pm and 6pm Included* Spending Money Optional. A Little Night Music (Musical) Set in midsummer in Sweden and featuring a lush score including A Weekend In The Country, Liaisons and the ever-popular Send In The Clowns, A Little Night Music is a romantic tour-de-force. 4 Helpful s 2018 Activities Calendar MONTHLY Calendar Distributed Return YOUR Requests CONFIRMATION of Activities Returned Invoices Sent After The Months Activities (Due dates to be advised) March 2018 Friday 2 nd February 2018 Wednesday 14 th March 2018 Friday 23 rd March 2018 Wednesday 4 th April 2018 Important Information Changing s Previously the Recreation Program accommodated people with Ageing Carers as first priority, followed by people living with Parents or Carers, then people in Alkira Residential, and lastly people living in Non-Alkira Residential. The introduction of the NDIS has triggered a reduction of Ageing Carers funding for Alkira Recreation. This means participants with a signed NDIS agreement with Alkira will now be considered first priority in the selection process for Recreation Activities. Priority for selection will be based upon the individual s needs, and allocated funding as outlined in their NDIS plans. Further selection will be based upon the above mentioned categories as 2 nd 5 th priority. I apologise if this change has any negative impact upon yourself or the person you care for. If you are concerned or need more information in relation to the Recreation Program, or any of the services Alkira offers please feel free to contact me (details below). Be sure to communicate with the NDIS team at Alkira if you have received word of an NDIS plan date or have received your first plan, to ensure you receive adequate support. If you are currently in the planning process for your NDIS plan and would like to participate in Alkira Recreation programs please advise your NDIS planner so that funding is allocated.
