2 Presentation Objectives Understand how to engage multiple regional and state partnerships to achieve greater impact. Understand how regional and state collaborative efforts have activated local communities in Arkansas. Identify potential partnerships and resources to activate local communities.

4 Overlapping Strategies BASIC Promote the adoption of food service guidelines/nutrition standards, which include sodium. Promote the adoption of physical education/physical activity in schools. Promote the adoption of physical activity in early care and education and worksites. DOMAIN 2 Increase access to healthy foods and beverages: Provide access to farmer s markets. Implement food service guidelines/nutrition standards where foods and beverages in priority settings (ECE, worksites, communities). Increase physical activity access and outreach. Create or enhance access to places for physical activity with focus on walking combined with information outreach. Design streets and communities for physical activity. Implement physical activity in early care and education.

12 Reducing Costs to Society Health and Fitness Economic Costs of Less Crashes States with the lowest levels of biking and walking have, on average, the highest rates of obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Arkansas bicycle and pedestrian injury and fatality crashes cost $720 million annually.
