Every team starts in its own boat. Boats rental can be arranged with local canoe clubs, conditions for the rental are not dealt with by RVS but between the starter and the concerned canoe club. Every boat needs head and tail. Classes: 1) Mixed-Teams* with members, min. 6 of which women and 6 of which men. 2 2) Women-Teams with members. 3) Juniors Mixed with members, min. 6 of which women and min. 6 of which men. 4) Pink Paddler with members. * Mixed teams will be splitted in sport and fun teams based on the results of Teams 1-11 of 2013 will be sport teams in Teams of 2013 will be fun teams in Teams starting in 2014 but not participating in 2013 will be defined as a sport team. These new teams can ask to be defined as fun team. Please send us the request and a good reason (f.e. race results of other regattas). We will review your request and make a proposal to all other team captains, which have to decide about your request. Dead line for fun team requests is 02/10/2014. Each fun team can request to start as sport team. Dead line is 02/10/2014 too. Members: Gender of drummer and pilot is independent of the team. Paddlers and drummers need to have attained the age of 14, pilots the age of 18. Distance: About 11km with 3 turning points. Pink Paddler s course is 2km with 1 turning point. Junior s course is 3.5km with 1 turning point. Junior s can take part on mixed team course too. Characteristics: - River Saar is a route of inland navigation, class Vb/0, the concerned rules have to be respected. - All Teams have to take care themselves to be at their start position on time. Therefore, boats can be delivered and touched down on water from 10:00 am onwards. - All Teams have to take care of their numbers themselves. - The start order is watched, in case of gross disrespect the concerned team will get a time penalty. - All classes start together, but each boot will have an individual time measurement. - Drummer has to use safety jacket, which will not be provided by Regattaverein Saar e.v. 3 - The helmsman can decide to drive on right or left side in general. But he has to drive on right side at few specific locations, which will be explained at team captain s meeting. - Each class needs minimum 2 teams. The team can decide to start in an other class or will payed back the fee, if the class has less than 2 boats. Registration: Registration only online via Registration order is start order. 5 Conditions for participation/safety instructions 1. The competition is based on the rules of the DKV (Deutscher Kanu Verband). Additional rules are defined in the announcement. 2. The instructions of the officials and their personnel have to be followed for your own protection at any time and without exceptions. 3. Participation at one s own risk. 4. Organizer, sponsors, officials and their personnel including security staff are free from any responsibility once a team has officially assigned for the competition and signed this safety instruction. 5. The rules for the inland water navigation are known and valid. 6. For people who have not completed the age of 18, the team captain has to obtain the agreement of the legal guardian. 7. Each team captain is responsible that each member of his/her team is able to swim at least 200 m with competition clothes. Furthermore, the team captain ensures that no health restrictions for his/her team is given or known. 8. The organizer is not responsible for the loss of clothes, equipment and valuables. 9. In case of force majeure (e.g. windstorm, flood, etc.) the fees will not be paid back. 10. Areas provided by (team points, trailer parking, etc.) have to be kept clean and undamaged. Possible costs for any contamination or damage will be forwarded to the causer by the organizer. 11. Every team captain is responsible to provide these information and the meaning of it within his/her team before the competition. The team captain has to hand over the signed Conditions for participation/safety instructions by team captain s meeting. Race participation without signed document is not possible. 12. The team captains meeting is obligatory for participation. Instead of the team captain, the helmsman is allowed to join. The absence of a team will result in a penalty of 30 seconds. The participation without instructions by the organizer is forbidden, in this case the fees will not be paid back. 13.
