3 FromtheCongressSecretary HeythereSCJ,welcometoMay Firstandforemost,thisisthefinalformatchangeforthe Preceptor.Togiveyouaglimpseofwhatwearegoingtobedoing: wewillbeputtingoutalargeformpreceptor,witharticlesfromthe JO sandthepresidents,everyothermonth.sowewillhaveonemore largeformpreceptorthisterm,beforenextyearbeginsinseptember. InApril,wehadtheopportunitytorepresenttheLeagueintheRiversideVeteran's Parade,walkingalongsidetheMasonsandJob'sDaughtersfromRiverside.OurChapters havebeenbusybuildingbrotherhoodastheyprovidefoodtothehomeless,assistwithchild IDprograms,holdagunsafetyandshootingevent,walkinlocalparades,serveMasonic dinners,participateinstreetfairs,andsupporttheirlocalmasonicorganizations. 11 FromtheExecutiveOfficer: To My SCJ DeMolay Family: As I start this, my last message as the Executive Officer of the Southern California Jurisdiction Order of DeMolay, made me realize. The last Seven years have been Fantastic I ve gotten the opportunity to work with some great Youth Leaders and very dedicated Advisors, (Too many to name). I believe that the SCJ s track record of the present Leadership TEAM, stands and speaks for itself, without the need of explanation. SCJ is considered one of (if not the) Premier Jurisdiction in all of DeMolay International, so I feel good that Mary Ann & I are leaving SCJ in a better condition than when we started this journey. I want to thank all of the Advisors at all levels of DeMolay, for their Leadership and Mentoring of our Youth, it was your dedication, patience and perseverance that made the Jurisdiction successful year after year. I ve been asked several times, why I m stepping down in June and not in September at our Conclave on Labor Day Weekend? My answer is very simple and straight forward; Conclave is the biggest event of our SCJ DeMolay year. It s a time where we Honor and Celebrate the Great Successes obtained under the Leadership of our present Jurisdictional Officers and the spotlight should be on them alone. Many adults fail to see my reasoning for this decision, but let me remind you; I follow in the footsteps of our Founder. Dad Land was correct by usually sitting in the back of the room and allowing the Boys to have the Spotlight Please, don t misunderstand me, I m very proud to have served SCJ as its Executive Officer. But I do have to give thanks to Most Worshipful Larry Adamson, for having faith and believing in my ability to reform SCJ. His strong Leadership as Grand Master and his Support for our Youth, made it easier for me to make a Long Term commitment to serve; with the understanding that I was certainly Not the best man for the job and certainly Not a Politician. But certainly the Best for the Youth In closing, it s not goodbye, just returning home with Mom Key to our Chapter in Rialto, where I belong and still considered the Chapter Dad (the Best job in DeMolay). I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue to serve our great organization and most importantly our Boys, regardless of the level, be it Chapter, League or Jurisdiction.
