3 This Month in Karting: The first club day has come and gone. A GREAT effort was shown by the amount of members who turned up for the working bee on the Saturday, thank you to all that attended. Race day was well attended and some classes had relatively good numbers. It was good to see the first of our Restricted 125 driver attend. The said driver has a smile all day- so the class can t be bad to run. Following week saw the Golden Power Series at our track- large fields were experienced by all classes. Most were struggling to overcome the amount of grip that was able to be generated. The weather was fantastic and fine just a tad warm. The evening meal held at the club house went well and all had a good time. I would like to thank Steve Dansie for sending me photos from the Golden Series. I have included these in this edition. Also thanks to my son Michael for taking photos for me as well. Tech Pages will return next month to allow space for the photos. 6 General Meeting Gippsland Go Kart Club 11 th March The general meeting of the Gippsland Go-Karts was held at our clubrooms, on Tuesday 11 th March, and was declared opened at 8.05 pm by President Graeme Monds. Present: Anita Stratton, Barry Stratton, Graeme Monds, Wayne Russell, Glenn Wall, Geoff Medew,Scott Rae, Henryk Latus, Alfi Prestipino, & Michael Clarke. Apologies: Peter Key, Jeannette Monds, Kevin & Marj McKinnon, Kelvin Jeffrey, Phil Lane, Darryll Brand. New Members: Welcome to Mr. Phillip Lee & Family to our club. Minutes from last Meeting:The minutes from the last meeting were read by members present, Moved by Geoff Medew,2 nd by Wayne Russell that they be true and correct. Treasurers Report: The treasurers report was held over as the treasurer was away. The report will be read next meeting. Business Arising: NIL. Delegates Report: The delegates report was given by Graeme Monds. State President: Victorian Open Championships held at Geelong went well. Many from other clubs helped out which was great. Toilets were great but not enough for the amount of people that attended. P.A. System was not adequate for the event. There was no containers for the engines after they had inspected and the club was asked to get some Schools went well had some new officials attend. The VKA twin seater kart having been driven by Michael Schumacher has enabled it to be able to be sold to a buyer that will put it into a museum. Michael Schumacher signed the side pods, and the money from the sale will go to junior development. State Delegate: Mojo tyres are to be used from the 1 st March 2008 we need to look at starting a Sportsman class to help our competitors that won t have the Mojo tyres. CIK and the AKA are having a dispute in regards to the way the things have been going.delegates discussed holding the meeting at Todd road is the AKA/CIK able to just come in and say They want a meeting on this date? Question was asked if they would have juniors? Chairman felt that they should not. It was stated that they would have NO juniors competing at the CIK event. Eastern Lions moved: That the CIK series to be held at Todd road on the 13/14 th September the club has no problem with it running as a back to back meeting with the Junior Sprint Classic on the basis that the CIK is not to have any junior classes at this event. Steward s school went well and have a couple that had been added to the roster. Portland delegate asked if we could look into doing the schools by correspondence as this is done in many companies? Discussion that level 1 & 2 officials could be done, but with level 3 & 4 s need some hands on experience. State Technical: Restrictors for the 125 are available from the State office. They are $25.00 each. We only have thirty per 125 engine and we need to monitor where they go. Secretaries are to contact the office when they have a new licence holders apply. State track: Tracks have been inspected and all clubs have their work orders to complete. Clubs that are looking into using lights must really look into them. David Murray reported: Following Geelong s lights being fitted and they had no one at the flag points it is suggested that should clubs that do have lights must have someone on the flag points. Geelong s lights ad poles and guide wires to each flag point which is not acceptable and needs to be looked into. David will get onto the

8 State track inspector to look into this before their club today. AKA needs to look at what criterion is required for the lights. State Scrutineer: This meeting was the first large meeting that we tried the self scrutineering system. AKA Sticker was a problem. Safety wires. Numbers still a problem. Side pod stickers are still a problem.sealing nuts some had wrong ones. Race Power Series Report:220 entries great weekend Scott Rae on Saturday the young drivers wouldn t start properly, but Sunday they were a lot better. The weather was great the whole weekend. We also had some great results, well done to all our drivers. Ballarat: Graeme Monds went there for a one day event. they had about entries, good racing, Very hot and dry. The meeting finished about 4pm. General Business: Geoff Medew and Scott Rae are going to get some prices for crush rock, see if we can get some before C grades. Toilets: Max still has to do a few things in the toilets, then put the urinal in, the partitions have to be put together and erected. The units to put the sinks in have been made, so hopefully not to much longer. Glenn Wall: 2008 C Grade Titles. Glenn has done a rough copy and is going to show Graeme to make sure everything is worded right, then off to Pam to be approved. The books will be open from May 2008 for this event. There was general discussion on different classes and weights, also a discussion re parking at big events. Working Bee: which was held on 23 rd February, A big Thank You to all the members who came along and got the jobs done before our round of the Power Series, it was a good turn out, and it was great to see a lot of new faces, even some of our young drivers.thank You once again, keep the good work going. Rubbish: Please keep the track tidy after club day or any time you are there, the grounds after last club day was not very good, there are bins to put the rubbish in, I know some karters have shopping bags that they put their rubbish in, then they drop it in the bins before they go, so please do not leave wrappers, bottles cups etc on the ground And do not put your old tyres in the bins as we get charged for them, and the company does not like it. And they will not allow tyres. Members who wish to order their lunches on race day, would you please put your order in by 9.30am that will give the girls time to get them ready,and ensure that you have what you want.this will be a great help to us.
