3 This month in Karting: Our AGM was held this month (minutes are in this newsletter)congratulations to the new office bearers and thanks to those who have donated their time to the club in the previous year. Another month gone, Bathurst run and won.. Not by our new member Bargs or our old member Bright. Both have had better years up there on the mountain. We hear that they both might be at our track next club day 30 October, so if you have any questions you would like to ask Jason Bargwanna or Jason Bright, please put pen to paper. Annual General Meeting. th 11 October, The Annual General Meeting of the Gippsland Go-Karts was held at our clubrooms, on Tuesday 11 th October, 2011 and was declared opened at 7.06 pm by President Graeme Monds. Present: Anita & Barry Stratton, Graeme & Jeanette Monds, Glenn Wall. Geoff Medew, Mick Alger. Simon Pooley, Phil Lane, Cameron & Tony Correa, Sharon Lowater, John Schena. Nil. The club would like to welcome 3 new members, Peter Russell, Mark Shields & Chris Torney. We sincerely hope you enjoy yourselves and enjoy your racing. The minutes from the last annual general meeting were read by members present, Moved by Glenn Wall, 2 nd by Kevin James that they be true and correct. Treasurers Phil gave his report, which was lengthy and informative. The treasurers report was Moved by Report: Caroline Cameron and 2 nd by Geoff Medew. Thank you Phil for a great report. At the end of Phil giving his report, he had worked it out that there would be no increase in the fees this coming year, they would be the same as last 2010/2011. A reminder for you, they are: Fees for 2012: Juniors $ Seniors $ and Families $ Race Fees 2012: Midgets & Rookies $ Junior & Seniors $ increase of $5.00 Families $75.00 and the 2 nd entry $ Also for new members the price of the gate key has gone from $25.00 to $ Definition of Family for racing: 2 Adults and children under 18 years, but when child/children reach 18 years of age they are no longer under the family price. President s Report: Graeme s report is reported below: Dated 11 th October, Once again the Gippsland Go Kart Club in my opinion has had another good year in the karting world. The success of both our open meetings really showed off our good facilities and our hard working volunteers that run and cater for these events. The auction night was huge thanks to Alfi and volunteers along with the members activity on a great night, raising $ a record. Our Club Day Officials have done an excellent job for the entire year with Glenn and Phil both been upgraded to level 2 stewards to further help our club. Things of great excitement to our club are the number of competitors that have attended open meetings with great success and good conduct which is very imported are: Nicholas Ellen. Aust. 1 at National titles in Perth. Jordan Caruso. Vic. 1 at Todd Road in Melbourne. Jordan Caruso. Qld. 1 at Warwick in Queensland

9 Gippsland Go-karters champions! Troy Alger from Warragul 12yo won the Australasian rookies championship title at Numurkah on the 18 September. Competitors travelled from all the eastern states to contest the title. Troy began karting career in August 2007 and has worked hard for his achievement. James Dean (19years) also brought home the Australasian title for TAG 125 light class. James has been racing for 3 years. James is based in Meeniyan. Delegates The delegates report was given by Graeme Monds. Report: State President: Goulburn Valley club day was ran under lights. Meeting went well. Junior Development camp any one that can give a hand please let Pam know. Australasian C & D grade titles went well entries down a little. Junior sprint meeting has good entry for the 10 th /11 th September. VKA promotion trailer this is nearly ready for use. Swan Hill & Oakleigh. Roster to date: Bendigo, Ballarat, Goulburn Valley, State Delegate: Written summary report presented to the delegates of the outcomes of the NKC meeting distributed to delegates at the meeting. Points of discussion: Officials: New AKA official shirt are being investigated. Technical section: Rotax will be using the world rules as they AKA are not making any new rods to suit the current motors. NKC General Business: Planning of new engines into the AKA within the next few years. Delegates asked why an engine was being sort to replace the KT100S for seniors as they believed that the 125 classes are a better replacement and numbers are growing in these classes. Delegates believed that the AKA should not be looking at replacing the 100cc KT100S engine with any other engine. The Yamaha KT100SJ engines they had no problem with. AKA Resignations: Delegates asked about the resignations. A discussion on the recent resignations of the AKA President and Vice President and why they resigned. Clubs asked why this most important vote didn t come back to the state council meeting for consideration. Delegate said that he was requested to vote on the hook up.

Rochester delegate asked about the inconsistency s in the contact of kart penalties. It was explained it depended on each case and the severity of the contact etc. State Technical: At the Rotax Nationals a set of tyres was picked up prior to practice which the competitor used WD40 on them to put them on the rims using the tyre sniffer. These were impounded and the driver had to purchase another set. Agenda items: For meeting 13 th October, 2011 Item 1. Sportsman 125 restricted Sportsman 125 unrestricted. Discussion on the weight parity with the Leopard RL engine and the Rotax engine. The Leopard RL to be given a 5kg dispensation. Item 2: 2012 Race calendar to be voted and finalized, Item 3: 2013 & 2014 Victorian Open championships submissions (3 copies) to be sent to the VKA office they must be received in the post on the 28 th November Voting on submissions will be at the 8 th December council meeting. Clubs that put forward a submission must forward a copy to each club by the 28 th November. Thank you Graeme for your report. Junior Development: Luana Crampton took 4 boys Lachlan Crampton, Adam Watchorn, Sam Downing and Sam Morrow to the development camp held at Oakleigh, the boys had a great time, had lots of track time. The boys got to meet Todd Kelly and David Sera. Glad you enjoyed yourselfs boys. Presentation Night: to be held at Taylors Lakes. Graeme read out a list of prices for the dinner we had to pick one, so that they could vote on it at the delegates meeting 13 th October, we chose the $45.00 one. Date of presentations at Taylors Lakes is on 10 th December. For any information and tickets see Jeanette, I am sure she will be able to advise you.

12 General Glenn Wall $ from Latrobe City. Phil has done the paper work for the council, when he sends Business: it in we will have to wait and see what happens. Stewards room to be moved. Discussion on moving the entry room 4 foot. Organise to have the power cut off from the stewards room. Phil to look into this matter. Officials need 2 stewards rooms. Track: John Schena saw the name about the track, quote $ Lasting time 5 to 7 years? Graeme and Glenn discussed about having the track done properly, drainage etc, Track need all curbs done. Get machinery in to level track so that we can have everything done to help drainage and stop water running over track. This is our project for Members when we move the stewards we will need some help, so anyone who can help with this project would you kindly see Glenn and he will advise you. Thanks. Glenn Wall we have a second lap top coming. Honour Board. Is nearly completed, they only have to put 2011/2012 office bearers names on it. Glenn has a special way of putting up on the wall. Canteen: double sink to be installed, hopefully before this club, we can use the BBQ in canteen now. Debentures: Phil Lane to look into this matter, hopefully have it finalized by the end of the year. Visitors: Grant Wicks has arranged for Jason Bright to come to the track on October race day. Kids if you want to ask any questions to Jason write them down, it should be a good afternoon. This will be after racing. Vintage car man: Glenn Maher has donated a great Birel (toy) kart it runs on gas for a raffle. Thank you Glenn for your great donation, it will be some kids pride and joy. Alfi said we will run the raffle for that over the last two race days, October & November. Ross Miller: Time qualifying, now and then Grant Wicks Feature classes?? There will have to be more discussion on this. Luana Crampton: At our last meeting Anita bought up about getting the old air-conditioner out of the lap scorers room, board the hole up to stop the water coming in. Grid: Graeme got a quote to have some covering over the grid, a bit expensive, will have to think about that one?? but Graeme promised Caroline that we will do something. Members remember to keep reading the Notice Board with new addendums, they will be of interest to every driver and pit crew. To help the girls in the canteen, if you would like something special for your lunch e.g. Soup. Sandwiches or Salads etc, if you have any dietary needs, would you please give them your order, so they can get them ready and it will make it easier on them. Thank You.
