2 WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT RACING? We are a team based in Toronto and Nashville was definitely the highlight of our 2009 season. The venue was perfect and the awards ceremony at the Wild Horse Saloon was impressive. We look forward to visiting Nashville again in the near future! -J.J. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NASHVILLE DRAGON BOAT AND RIVER FESTIVAL The festival combines the excitement of racing with the beauty and spectacle of Nashville s diverse culture. In Chinese tradition, the dragon is a symbol of health and prosperity, and dragon boat racing inspires health and fitness among participants as well as spectators. Friendly competition in a wholesome outdoor setting. A physical activity that anyone can do regardless of skill level. A fun-filled reason on the riverfront everyone in the community can attend. Children will enjoy the colorful performances and helping us welcome the auspicious dragon to Nashville waters. Families can spend the day watching the races, sampling Asian cuisine, and enjoying live multicultural performances. Whether championship racers or complete beginners, young or old, this event offers something for everyone. Dragon boat racing is a great workout and a good time for a great cause. So get on board for the time of your life! Through practice, paddling and heckling the other teams, employees who at first didn t even know each others names became pals. 6 Dragon Boat racing is an incredible team-building event.
