By- Molly Dettlinger The Brielle Elementary School girls soccer team were the overall MCAL League Chapmpions and placed first in the American Division. They had a record of Some highlights of the season is that they went undefeated all season and they won the championship. Key players on the team were Madeline Johnson, Bianca Chiarella, Jules Farinacci, Kali Saito, Gabby Grecsek, Mary Cate Immen, Lily Farinacci, Kiki Noe, Mattie Petrone, and Lily McKiever, and Gia Restivo. The girls worked hard every day, gave 100%, teamwork, and lots of heart and determination. All 21 players and the team manager, Summer Wilderotter, contributed to this amazing season.
Band Day by-kiki Noe and Maddie Johnson Each year Manasquan High School hosts Band Day for the sending districts which includes Manasquan, Brielle, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Belmar and Avon. The elementary school band members walk in the game day parade, then play during the halftime show, and then are able to sit in the stand to watch the game with the high school band members. For the halftime show they played Give Me Some Lovin and Signed, Sealed, Delivered I m Yours. For the parade they did, Victors, Louie, Louie, and Chop. It is a great day for the all the schools and for music.
Olympic Night By Madeline Johnson and Kiki Noe This year Brielle Elementary School won Olympic Night for the 19th year in a row. Brielle s first win was in 1998, and the team has won every year since. This year Brielle won 20 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. In the elementary school division, Elli Shatkus contributed with 2 gold and and a silver medal and John Visceglia helped Brielle with 2 gold medals. In the junior division, Gwen O Connor got 2 golds medals and Ace Etienne got 2 golds medals and a silver medal. In the senior division, Luke Dowd got 3 bronze medals, Shane Salvatoriello got 2 bronze and placed 4th in the co-ed relay, and Kali Saito got 1 gold and 2 silver medals. Olympic night was held at Antrim Elementary School in Point Pleasant and was a great night for Brielle.
By- Sofia Wall and Brooke Rodricks The boy s soccer team record was seven wins, three losses, and one tie. They did not win any titles and ended with a record of The highlights of the season was making the playoffs for five straight seasons and winning against Manasquan.. The key players were Jack Dettlinger, Thomas Stamos, Wesley Perk, Logan Vitanzo, Sebastien Zelinsky, James Bonavita, Matt Laufer, and Hobie Pilling. The strengths were closed group work, and working well together. All of the players were outstanding in their own way.
Cross Country By Lily Hendricks, Kiera Polesky, Julia Whelan Cross Country This year the Cross Country team had fun and ran their best. Ms. Dolan commented on the year, The boys went to the championship with a three way tie for first place and the girls defeated Manasquan for the first time ever! She would want to improve next year by getting more girls to sign up for the team. Ms. Dolan became cross country coach because it was her favorite season to run in highschool and collage. The girls had 5 wins and 3 loses and the boys had 7 wins and 1 loss. When we asked Mrs.Dolan about the most memorable moment this year she said, What was the most memorable? Definitely when the two teams were able to come together unlike any other teams in the past. Ms. Dolan wants to thank Colin Waldman. He is a Brielle graduate and senior at Manasquan High school. He has come back in the past for years to help me with the team. The greatest meet was the championship because it was at somewhere new, more challenges on the course. This was a great season for cross country.
Challenge Day From the Viewpoint of Heiti Villegas and Jade Ricany O Brien October 10, 2018, the Brielle PTO hosted Challenge Day for the 8th Graders. It was definitely a fun but, sad experience. It was so enlightening. It was good to know that other people had the same problems as us and we were not alone. We did a lot of fun activities which at first seemed a little cheesy, but at the end they brought us together. There was a lot of public speaking involved and definitely a lot of crying. There was one activity that was called Cross the Line. There was a lot of confessing and a lot of people found out new things about each other. It was a very fun experience because you really got to know your friends and begin to end all of the fighting and the feuds that you might have had with people. The eighth graders got know each other by talking to different new people. We were placed in random groups and we did not to sit with our friends. At first people in the little groups felt a little awkward, but as the day went on everybody got more comfortable with each other. All in all, this was a very fun event and I think it was good activity to start of the year.

Art and Geography This week we had Neil Nichol s Geography Show presented to every grade in our school. He taught us about the world we live in and we taught us more about our proud country. If you participated and answered correctly in the geography game show, you got to take home a unique prize from a different part of the world. Also in the show if you listened carefully Neil would give you tips on how to sketch better and different techniques. He also teaches drawing classes in Massachusetts. He grew up in massachusetts, with his mother and fourteen siblings. When he was a kid his favorite hobby was to draw. His first geography show was hosted in an elementary school in New Mexico in 1992,he was 26 at the time. Neil has been in a total of 1,841 airplane rides. He learns the world by memory, then he draws it. If you are interested in taking drawing classes with Neil Nichols click on the link below:
Haunted Hallway By Jade Ricany-O Brien and Heiti Villegas This year the 8th graders in IC Hope hosted the Haunted Hallway on October 25, This year the Haunted Hallway was in the 5th grade hallway and the 7th and 8th grade hallway. It took about a month to set up, get the dates, times, decorations, and scary actors. The day of the Haunted Hallway, everybody in IC Hope stayed after school to help set up. There were teachers who helped out too, like Mrs.McWilliams, Mr.C, Mr.Fallon. People had to get into costume and put on their makeup. We also had to set up the bake sale and ticket sale. One scary actor even made 6 people cry. There were 3 different sections including the graveyard, the circus, and the insane asylum. The IC Hope team made over $1, on the Haunted Hallway that will go to the Food Bank.
Ms. Golding Interview by Layla Keelan Article by Molly Dettlinger and Becca Curran Ms. Golding is a not a new teacher in Brielle but is a new addition to the second grade team. She has worked in almost every grade level and has attended workshops so she was very comfortable accepting the 2nd grade job. She grew up in Manasquan and was a substitute teacher for a year after college, then got a job as an aid in Brielle. She also worked at H.W. Mountz. She likes to teach math. She has been working at Brielle but this is her first year as a full time teacher. Outside of school she enjoys going for bike rides and go to the beach as well as shopping. This is a very exciting time of my life. When she was little, she always played school with her sister and she always knew she wanted to be a teacher. I was waiting for this opportunity my whole life, said Ms.Golding when asked if she was happy to we working in Brielle. What do students do prefer to do after school? Brad Chapman asked 75 people. Here are the results.
