I know that you will try your hardest, do your personal best and represent the school in the way that we know you can. A program of events was included in last week s newsletter. The NAPLAN Parent reports for students in Years 3 and 5 have been handed to children to take home today. If you wish to discuss your child s NAPLAN, please feel free to contact your child s teacher or make an appointment through the office. The Book Week character parade was very exciting last Tuesday. It was great to see all the children dressed as book characters. The costumes were fantastic. Thank you to Miss Wedlock for organising the parade and the author visit. The DoE Swimming Scheme commences on Monday 29th August and runs every school day for 2 weeks. It will be held at the Warringah Aquatic centre and children will be travelling by bus under the supervision of two teachers. This is a very worthwhile program run by Department of Education. It is of great benefit in that children receive intense instruction every day for those two weeks. Creative Arts Photos will be held on Thursday 25th August 2016 for our wonderful performers. These will include: choir, band, dance and debating students. Dance students must wear their dance costume to school and then change into their full winter school uniform for other photos. They will need to have their hair done as per their performance and no makeup to be applied. Choir and debating students will need to be in their full winter school uniform. I hope you have been inspired by the Olympics to try and do your very best and always demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship. Please see the program in last week s newsletter for the order of events. As the Warringah PSSA rules state, all students MUST compete in the events they have been sent to represent Belrose Public School in. That's right Father's Day. In recognition of all the hard work from the men in our children's lives we invite all the Dad's, Grandpa's and special men to the annual Fathers Day Breakfast on Friday 2nd September. Please see flyer on page 7 for details. Belrose Bicycles have kindly donated an 18 inch bike which we will raffle on the day. We also have a family getaway on offer. Jenny Gray is making her come back on the microphone, it's been a while so get ready for the entertainment. The lovely Lakic family have given up their mum and dining table for a few weeks whilst Silvana prepares gifts which will be on sale for $8 each. Cafe Bel are bringing their photo booth and coffee trailer, Bunnings will be there with a few surprises. My goodness, I can't wait. Hope to see all our wonderful Belrose Families enjoying breakfast together. Kind regards Andrew Fairclough Band Committee belroseband@hotmail.com TOWN HALL On Tuesday the 9th of August, the Belrose Public School Perjazz Band performed at the Sydney Town Hall. We arrived in the city at around 3.20pm. Izzy, Lara, Caleb and I had to go to the sound check for the Arts Alive Combined Schools Jazz Band. After that we had a sound check for the Perjazz Band. When we were all done we went back to the holding room. At 5.00pm we went and had dinner. When we came back from dinner we went to the holding room again until it was our turn to perform. The Arts Alive Combined Schools Jazz Band was before the Perjazz Band. It was finally time for the Jazz Band s turn to perform. When we got on stage we played If I didn't have you (I had a solo). We played it really well and quickly got off stage. Pretty soon it was Perjazz Band s turn to play. We played Livin on a prayer. We played really well and it was definitely worth the wait. Kate G On Tuesday night Belrose Band went to the excellent, extraordinary, exciting Town Hall. We played one song but some kids played two songs. We sounded as good as Bon Jovi (because we played their song). The song we played was the one and only Livin on a prayer. Once we played the audience clapped with wonder. Mr Hill smiled with pride. It was a very fun night and I m sure everyone enjoyed it. Izzy
