I would also like to welcome our new families to our learning community and I know all of our families will help to make them feel welcome also. NAIDOC Week This week our school is celebrating NAIDOC week which was officially during the school holidays. The theme for this year is Because of Her, We Can! which is acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women as pillars of society and the active and significant roles they have played and continue to play in their communities and at state and national level. Our school has a variety of actives planned over the next week with Indigenous games for all classes and an afternoon tea and NAIDOC assembly. Thank you to all our Indigenous families who were able to attend the afternoon and assembly and a big thankyou to Mr Wright for playing the digeridoo. Staffing News This term we welcome back Mrs Stafford who will be full time in the library. We also welcome back Mrs Blanch, who has had fantastic news and will be back on board with 2H on Tuesdays and Fridays. I know 2H are very excited about working with Mrs Blanch. 100 Days at School On Thursday, Kindergarten will be celebrating their first 100 days of big school. They have made a huge amount of progress since day one and are now reading and writing and working with numbers. They have become independent rather quickly and we are all very proud of their progress. Children have been busy collecting 100 items each for activities in the classroom and will be dressing up for the day. We can t wait to see what they will be wearing. State Cross Country We wish Max Fife all the best who will be competing at the State Cross country this Friday. He will do a brilliant job representing the South Coast region and we all look forward to hearing how he went. Good Luck Max!! Rod Wishart/Paul McGregor Cup Best of luck to the junior and senior boys who are competing on Thursday in the Rod Wishart/Paul McGregor Cup at Croome Road. We look forward to hearing how you all went and know you will represent our school with pride. Good luck boys!! Indoor Soccer Knockout Best wishes to the girls competing in the state indoor soccer knockout next Tuesday in Penrith. We know you will all do your very best and be fantastic ambassadors for Mount Terry. Good luck girls!!

2 Pie Drive The P&C will be working tirelessly sorting out pies on Thursday to be sent home with students Thursday afternoon. If you have placed a large order can you please arrange for someone to collect them on Thursday? Thank you to everyone who supported our P&C with this fundraising event and I m sure many families will be enjoying pies for dinner on Thursday night. Teachers are Learners Too! On Monday of this week all staff were involved in training around the Learning Progressions, Visible Learning and Formative Assessment. They also engaged in term planning to ensure all programs are ready to go for their classes in Term 3. 3 SPORT District Discus Nomination If your child (Years 3-6 or children turning 8 in year 2) competes in discus for little athletics and you would like to nominate them to represent the Tongarra region in discus, could you please send a photocopied copy of your child's little athletics results to the front office with their name and age. Please highlight their best throw as I will be nominating the top 2 children from Mount Terry in each age group (Junior-8,9,10 yrs, 11's and Senior). This needs to be done by Monday 30th of July. No nominations will be accepted after this date. All 11 schools in the Tongarra area will be sending in nominations with only the top 2 children progressing to the South Coast Carnival. I will inform our children if they have been successful at a later date. Good Luck! Best of luck to Max F who will be representing South Coast at the State Cross Country Carnival this Friday and to our 2 teams competing in the finals of the Rod Wishart/Paul McGregor Rugby League Gala Day on Thursday. We look forward to hearing about your results. Mr Fownes P&C NEWS. Facebook Page: Mt Terry P&C Fundraising Pie Drive- Pies are being delivered this Thursday 26th July!! I know what I'm having for dinner that night! Orders can be picked up from the hall after school on Thursday. Orders WILL NOT be delivered to classrooms. If orders are ready early we will get a skoolbag app sent out to notify that you can start coming to pick up otherwise please wait until after the bell. Please keep in mind that your kids may need help getting these home especially if you have a big order. Pies are recommended to not be out of the fridge for longer than 4 hours so please be there to pick them up at 2.50pm or send someone to pick them up for you. This pie drive has raised a whopping $6,797 for the school!! Thank you to all that supported this fundraiser, that's a massive effort and our biggest fundraiser so far this year!!! Everyone who sold over $100 worth of pies went in a lucky draw for a bonus plain meat pie and a 6 pack of lamingtons and the lucky winner of that was JEREMY FERREIRA from 5L. We also had prizes for our top 3 sellers and our top sellers are below; JAXON MCGUIGGAN from 1F sold a whopping 65 pies worth $689!!!! He was our top seller!! Yay! Jaxon's Mum works at Queen Street Bakery and she has very generously chosen to donate their winnings to the next top seller in line!! Thanks so much to the McGuiggan's for your massive effort and support! ALEXANDER BOYD - FORBES from 1D was our next top seller with 42 pies sold worth $443 so Alexander will get the top seler prize and will find a bonus meat pie and a $35 Birthday Cake Voucher from Queen Street Bakery in his order!! Thank you for your efforts! RILEY DUREN from 4H was our next top seller with 40 pies sold worth $422 and Riley will also get a bonus meat pie and a $35 Birthday Cake Voucher from Queen Street Bakery in his order! Thanks Riley! OLIVIA DUNCAN from 1K was our next top seller with 38 pies sold worth $402!! Olivia will find a bonus meat pie in her order! Hooray! Thanks Olivia! We hope you enjoy your rewards for your big efforts. We really appreciate your support! Trivia Night - Notes have now come home about our Trivia Night being held on Saturday 4th ust at Albion Park Bowling Club. This will be such a fun night and there will be heaps of chances to win prizes throughout the night as it's full of trivia, games and raffles. Don't worry if you aren't good at trivia, it's still a fun night! Saturday 4th ust Albion Park Bowling Club 6.45pm for a 7.15pm start Tickets - $15 per person (tables of 10) You will need to come up with a fun name for your team! When making payment please place money in an envelope with your name and your team's name on it. You will then be placed on a list and your name will be marked off at the door on the night. Invoices have now been issued and you need to either pay the invoice for the book you have or return the books as a matter of urgency as the outstanding books are holding up the finalisation of this fundraiser and we don't get our money raised until we have finalised and closed this off. Bunnings BBQ - We have another Bunnings BBQ booked for Saturday 18th ust and we will be asking for volunteers a little bit closer to the date. We would love for you to save the date if you can come down and help! Father's Day Stall - The Father's Day stall will be held on Tuesday 28th ust. More details to come. Obstacool - Obstacool is coming to our school as a fundraiser. We are super excited about this one!! More details will come closer to the date but it's booked for 23rd October in Term 4. We love them if they can help all day in the canteen, we love them if they can help for an hour in the morning, we love them if they can help serve over recess or lunch, we just love them and we NEED them! Any help you can offer is so very appreciated. You don't have to lock yourself in on a regular basis either, you can just do a day here or there whenever you can! The canteen is always looking for volunteers. We are very lucky to have a canteen that is open 5 days a week but we need volunteers to do this. Please consider helping where you can. Uniform Shop News Sports Uniforms Size 10 Sports polos are back in stock NEW Size small men s sports polos are now in stock Please ensure you get in early to purchase winter uniforms for School photos next term. My dress maker is going on a two month well deserved holiday soon, so I need to ensure I have adequate stock for winter tunics. The Uniform shop will open on the pupil free day, Monday July 23rd. Times will be confirmed soon and put on the P&C facebook page.
