3 A Note From the chairman Dear Daughters and Fathers of the Senior Princesses, All right I hope all you dads and daughters have had a good rest for the past month because here we go, there will be: inductionceremonylasertagewithafriendwhirleyballbreakfastintheparkmohica ncampingthunderalleybowlingwhitewaterrafting, and then the summer will be over! Is that enough? I hope I did not bring anybody down by mentioning the end of summer while there is still snow on the ground! The induction ceremony will be at the Y with swimming, induction of the new officers and members, and some great food. The menu will be an Italian theme. Please let me know if you plan on coming so I can get the food that we need. This is a father and daughter event. There is a flyer for laser tag that lets our daughters invite their friends for free as long as their friend brings her dad and he pays. The friend must be too old for Adventure Princesses and not already a member of the Senior Princesses. This is your chance to let your friends see what fun you have in Senior Princesses and nudge them to join! Then they get to go to all our great events this summer that I mentioned above. In April, there will be whirleyball. For this event, you can only bring friends and their dads if they join the organization. This is one of my favorite events. Also, look for the flyer with advanced details about rafting this summer. We are going to plan a joint trip with the Trailblazers so I would like to get a head count of how many people might be going. This is so we reserve enough rafts and camping spots. 10 River Rafting & Family Campout July 30 th through the August 1st, 2010 Mardi Gras Weekend at Yogi Bear s Campground! Raft the Middle Lower Youghiogheny River! Beginners Rafting with a Minimum of Two Adults per Four-Person Raft. Plenty of Fun for the Whole Family! Swimming, Hiking, Fishing, Biking & More! Caverns, Antiques, Craft Shops, Falling Waters! (Some may require reservations in advance.) Fresh Corn from the Grill on Friday Night! Breakfast Provided for all on Saturday Morning before Rafting! This year the Water Slides and Mini-Golf are included with camping at the campground There will be a Mardi Gras parade at the campground with puppet shows, a magician, fire truck rides, train rides and two swimming pools! For more information see their web site: Camping No money is needed at this time and costs are still being worked out but the cost to camp last year was $13 per person per night. You need to bring your own tent and food for Friday night, Saturday Night and Sunday morning. There is a limited amount of electrical outlets and water faucets at the group site that we will use. Note: Camping prices listed above are for tent camping only. Electric, Water & Sewer hookups for campers and motor homes are available but a separate reservation and separate payment are necessary. Please RSVP to me ASAP by March 15 th, 2010 Final deadline July 25 th, 2010 Rafting Laurel Highlands Outdoor Center (Ohio Pyle, PA) Last year we used four man rafts with helmets, life jackets and paddles included. The cost per person was $26. All equipment must be returned to the outfitter at the end of the trip. If more experienced rafters wish to raft the lower river they will need additional transportation and extra fees are involved.
