2 What Went Well PE HLG - Congratulations to the GCSE PE Dance girls, who were assessed last week. They performed fantastically and worked so hard to make the dance look brilliant. The girls produced some fantastic grades. Well Done! ERNI RKP Well done to all mentors and mentees who have participated in ERNI mentoring this year. 3 Upcoming Events World Challenge RJE - The World Challenge Team flew to Southern India on Tuesday and as per previous expeditions I have set up a Twitter page so parents, staff and students can see what we are up to on our travels. If you would like to see where our travels take us then please follow us Race for HLG - On Friday 14 July, our year 7s will be running the Race For Life. The students are running a distance of 3k around the athletics track on Chester Green. They will run the event as a 3k relay in a team of 4. This will take place in LF groups with LF1-3 running session 1 & 2, and LF 4-6 running session 4 & 5. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research and the students are collecting sponsorship to try and raise money. We have also set up a just giving page, so if any of you would like to donate, the link is below. If any of you are free at the time and would like to come and watch the event, that would be great. Duke of Edinburgh Award RPH/DS From Tuesday 11 July to Thursday 13 July we are accompanying 24 students to the Peak District to complete their Silver Assessed Expedition. Let s hope the weather will be kind to them 3 / 6
4 Notifications Information Centre CEH - The Diary of Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a normal teenager. She loved writing, being with her friends and fantasising about romance. But she and her family were Jewish. So when the Nazis invaded the Netherlands, they were forced to go into hiding to avoid being sent to a concentration camp. Between 1942 and 1944, the Franks, the Van Daans and a dentist named Albert Dussel lived in a concealed annex in Anne s father s office building. Anne recorded their lives in her diary. Eventually, their hiding place was discovered and the families were arrested. Only Anne s father survived. When he published his daughter s diary in 1947, it became an instant classic, and a harrowing insight into the horrors of the Nazi regime. Borrow a copy of this book and others that give accounts of similar holocaust victims and find out about this horrific period of history. CEH - The evening Enrichment sessions are proving popular in the IC. We have a lively group of Yu-Gi-Oh players on a Monday evening, along with enthusiastic readers who have been shadowing the Carnegie Awards. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings we have films showing, so far we have had The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, with this week the ROAR of dinosaurs as we watch Jurassic World. To follow this will be Miss Peregrine s home for Unusual Children. Also on Thursday evenings we have a very vibrant chess group, Miss Clapp has been recruiting players and there is a real buzz. Next term we will have a regular Top Trumps drop in session, day to be decided. Last Day of Term ABR - Students will leave College at 2pm on Friday 21 July. The last day of term will be a non-uniform day for Remap ( Students and staff will pay 1 to wear non uniform. 4 / 6
