100 Days To Go Ms Thomas and a group of school rugby players attended the '100 Days to Go' ceremony of the 2015 Rugby World Cup at Twickenham Stadium and met Prince Harry.

It was a sunny morning as we all arrived at Twickenham Stadium. School kids from the local area and beyond poured into Gate A.

2 100 Days To Go Ms Thomas and a group of school rugby players attended the '100 Days to Go' ceremony of the 2015 Rugby World Cup at Twickenham Stadium and met Prince Harry. In fact, Prince Harry talked to them and asked Ms Thomas all about Teddington students. Please click here to read an article about Prince Harry discussing the importance of values. It was a sunny morning as we all arrived at Twickenham Stadium. School kids from the local area and beyond poured into Gate A. There were eleven of us waiting outside the gates as even more students arrived, excited looks beaming on their faces. Loads of cameramen were waiting for Prince Harry, Jonny Wilkinson and the Webb Ellis Cup to arrive. We made it through the gates and we went to a room inside the stadium. The atmosphere was buzzing! We were given free t-shirts displaying the words 100 days to go #RWC2015. Every student had one on whether it was green, blue, white or pink. We carried on waiting for the special moment to happen. An hour and twenty minutes later, we all had to line up ready to go out to do the guard of honour. We were all given flags displaying the nations of the teams competing. Finally, our heroes came out with the Webb Ellis Cup. The flags were everywhere. We all stopped as Prince Harry stepped up to make a speech. Everyone listened carefully to his word, the words that would start the World Cup trophy tour of the UK. The trophy was carefully placed in the back of a Land Rover and, after fixing the problems with closing the boot, the trophy began its tour of the UK. After this, Prince Harry and Jonny Wilkinson started to shake hands with all the students and teachers, including some banter with Miss Thomas. We then collected a free rugby ball and, after a quick photo, we headed back on the minibus. On the way back, the excitement began for the Rugby World Cup. 3 Middlesex Athletics Championships On Tuesday 9 June 2015, Freya Thomson and Joe Widdop-Grey represented Richmond Schools at the Middlesex Athletics championships. Freya finished in 2 nd place in the 1500 metres and Joe finished 3 rd in the hurdles. Huge congratulations to them both and we wish them all the best for this athletics season. Shakespeare Project The 7BG students have been busy working on their Shakespeare Project for English. Please click here to watch a video of Kate Breaks, 7BS talking about the Elizabethan kirtle dress she made based on a design from the Historic Houses Collection. True dedication, the dress is beautiful. Thanks to Mrs Archer and her class, 7BG for their amazing projects. The garden scene is brilliant!

4 Developing the Vision for Teddington School As Miss Poole outlined in last week's newsletter, the governors have been working with the Head and the senior team to start the work on developing our school's vision for the next 3 years. Now we want to get input from all of the staff, students and parents / carers. To that end we are running two workshops for parents / carers. They will take place at 5 pm on Tuesday 16 June in room 101 and at 7 pm on Wednesday 8 July in room 106. Both are on the first floor. The work should take no more than an hour and allows you to have your voice on what is important for our school. Thanks to Chef Phil and the Cucina team for making lunchtime such fun!! 5 Teddington School PTA Update To keep up with the latest PTA news and events follow us on At the PTA meeting on 9 June we agreed to fund the following: 8,000 to provide outdoor seating for all students 2,000 to ensure the Duke of Edinburgh scheme remains available to all Year 10 & 11 students 500 to provide a welcome (non alcoholic!) drink for all students at the Year 11 Prom 500 towards the staff summer party as a thank you from all parents / carers This is only possible because of the hard work that lots of parents/carers have put in raising funds so thank you to all. A HUGE thank you to the 40+ people who attended the PTA on Monday 9 June to discuss how to take the PTA forward. The main outcome was that we have a full calendar of events for next year, a permanent link with the senior management of the school and a commitment to revive the direct debit scheme.
