1 SCUTTLEBUTT Singles International Vol 33 Issue 6 October 2017 President's Message Well here I am at the Eastern Rally in Lewisburg,West Virginia. I have been parked with The Frustrated Maestros and they have been delightful to park with. My sister, Rosalie, our Vice-President and Secretary, sings with them. Inside this issue: President s Message Officers/ Treas. Rep Member Spotlight Rocky Mountain Area Rallies She wanted to come to their Music Camp so I brought her here on September 24. It was warm here then, but has turned cold at night. We also attended a wonderful concert at Carnegie Hall here. John McPhearson and Ethel Sawyer came in Sunday night to sing with the Maestros. Tuesday, Susan Balmert came in in time to have supper with the Maestros. Joanne Evans, a new member, motored in with her new motorhome. Daryl Sponseller, our new Treasurer, found me at Entertainment. We all dispersed to Seminars during the week. I ran into Mary Ellen Seifert when I was in a seminar about Greenbriar. I have been the unofficial greeter of the FMCA here and seems everyone wants a hug! Upcoming Rallies Save the Date Thanksgiving Rally Holiday Rallies in Florida Our Treasurer, Daryl Sponseller, has been installed, so we officially have a treasurer in charge of Singles International. I want to officially thank her for taking the job. We will taking care of the paperwork on Friday to change banks to one that is nationwide. It is time to send in your dues. Her address is on the application page 11. Please make sure you vote for or against the fifth-wheelers and trailers coming into the FMCA by the end of October. Perhaps if it passes we will have an influx of new members which we sorely need. A copy of the ballot is on page 10 Upcoming Rallies Save the Date 8 9 We are planning fun times for our Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years' Rallies so get your reservations in as soon as possible. FMCA Ballot 10 Application/ new members 11 Cover page 12 Now to the serious stuff. Who is going to be running for President, Secretary and other offices? I have done it for 2 years and need some other people to take the helm or Singles will fold. I do not want this to happen, but I need to have someone else take over the positions. So show up at Lakeland and volunteer for a position! Betty Howard, President, Singles International 1

4 Rocky Mountain Area The 2017 Rocky Mtn Ramble is history, ending 24 Sep with great entertainment and door prizes including a beautiful Navaho rug. SIs were present at the chapter fair and conducted the card bingo to lots of fun and laughs. Attending were Carol Priemesberger, Bob Svitak, another gal(forgot to write her name) and myself. The Area has 2 other FMCA gatherings in 2018, so there will not be a Ramble that year. The INTO Under the Tucson Sun gathering at Pima County Fairgrounds, 5-9 February 2018 should be a fun time. SI presence will be at the Chapter Fair, doing the Card Bingo, and daily happy hour gatherings. The Maestros have been invited to perform at morning coffee and I will again be with them. No pre or post-rally is formally planned. Early arrivals may park at the grounds and Tucson has a number of free parking casinos, and may talk-up a post-gathering at one to use as base to do sightseeing in the area. The FMCA International Convention is to be coming to Gillette WY Camplex, 8-21 July Tentative plans are for a post-caravan/travel to Medora North Dakota to visit Theodore Roosevelt NP, attend the night musical and attend the Pitchfork Dinner.
