1 The Villages RV Club General Meeting Minutes April 8, 2016 President John Cormier opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance, and a moment of silence was observed. After the Board and the 50/50 coordinators were introduced, the secretary read the highlights of the March meeting, and the treasurer gave his report. He stated that there is an ending balance of $4, New Members There were 5 people welcomed into the club. Koozies were given as small gifts. George Wyman (Vice-President) gave an explanation on how the meetings are run. He stated that: Social time and signup for rallies begin at 9:00 A.M. on the second Friday of the month. Meetings begin at 10:00 A.M. Please check the website TVRVC.org for rally information. There will be a display table located on the right side of the room for selling new and used RV items. Sellers must remember to take their item(s) home if the items are not sold. Bernie and George explained the 50/50 procedure. George stated that wagonmasters now receive a $ check to use at their discretion. Wagonmasters and assistant wagonmasters are always welcome. The preference color for club shirts is yellow, and the Custom Apparel store at the Southern Trace Plaza does custom screen printing and embroidery. Shirts do not have to be purchased there. Alliance supplies the donuts for the club every month and American Pro gives a 10% discount on anything done on your coach. Signing up for a rally means putting down a deposit of $25.00 for the rally of your choice. The deposit will not be refunded after five (5) days. Seminar for wagonmasters will be planned for the fall. Roger has assumed responsibility for the rally page of the website. There is a contact information form that is downloadable and would be useful to the wagonmaster. Also, Roger has a list of websites that list FL festivals or events and will share them with you if interested. Sunshine Jo Spinks will help spread sunshine in times of need, difficulty, or sorrow to TVRVC members. President s Remarks Thanks to Alliance for supplying the donuts for our monthly meetings. Badges are available for purchase at $8.00. You must be a current dues paying member to participate in club activities. Names will be stricken from the roster by the end of April. Please contact JoAnne Heckman if you need to renew membership. Holiday party will occur on Dec. 10, 2016 at $27.50 per person. Casual dress, open seating, buffet, DJ, BYO, tickets on sale today. Catered Picnic at Mulberry Pavilion on May 13(F) - $5.00 per person Sponsors include Alliance, American Pro, and our own Denny Beggs. An RV Flea Market will also be offered. If you bring something that doesn t get sold, please make sure you take it home. In lieu of the December meeting, the Board is considering doing a BYO Breakfast in October. There will be NO June meeting this year. Membership Roster on website? This would include your name, cell phone number, and address on the website. George Wyman said to just let us know if you don t want your name published. Then it will NOT be placed on the website. 50/50-1 st draw - $ nd draw - $ rd draw - $25.00 Program Victor Parrish (Walmart driver) and John Kitchen (Publix driver) gave an informative talk on sharing the road safely with trucks.

John gave an explanation as to how the meetings are run such as: Social time and signup for rallies begin at 9:00 A.M. on second Friday of the month. $25.00 nonrefundable deposit for signed up rally. TVRVC.org has important info about our club. Usually you must make arrangements with the campground once you ve signed up. You must signup first before you call the campground. If you are unable to get on the original list, make sure that you sign up on the wait list. Wagonmaster Presentations Fort Myers Beach; East Coast Rally (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Urbanna, VA, Washington D.C.); Possible Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee Rally; Stone Mountain, GA; FMCA (Perry, GA); Golf Outing (need ID#); Mayport Naval Air Station (Jacksonville, FL); Upcoming Turkey Trot (Sarasota, FL); Disney; Grand Lakes (Citra, FL); Lake Osprey (Elberta, AL); Possible Great Outdoors Rally (?); Tigers/Yankees Rally (Lakeland, FL); River Ranch (Central FL). Head Wagonmaster Report Badges are available to wagonmasters. Roger explained the 5 Friends program (2 wagonmasters plus 3). Hopefully, this will encourage more people to become wagonmasters. The stipend has been increased from $ to $ as well. Banners, whiteboards, and files for previous rallies are available. President s Remarks 1. Thank you to Alliance for supplying the donuts to the club. 2. Name tags may be ordered for $8.00 each. 3. As of last month there are 302 members of the club. 254 are renewals and 48 are new members. Members of previous years, who have not renewed, will be deleted from the roster after April 1. You must be a current dues member in order to participate in club activities. 4. The Villages Outdoor Expo was very successful, and a thank you goes to all who helped. 5. The Villages Property Mgt. has been notified about various trees and bushes that need to be trimmed. Please the president with locations that interfere with your rigs. 6. Thanks go to Mike and Karen Forino, who have volunteered to run the holiday party and picnic (May 13 th ). The picnic will be catered and tickets will be sold next month and at the May meeting as well. 7. Commercial RV tour operators will be stationed along the wall as an added benefit to the membership.
5 8. An informal Holiday Dinner Dance will be held in the Americana room on Saturday, December 10 th. It will be $27.50/person with a buffet dinner and DJ. There will not be a December general meeting. 9. The BYO Breakfast might be pushed back to the October as a social event. Program Joe Pine from the Metro Crime Prevention of Florida gave a safety workshop with tips on how to keep our homes and ourselves safer. 50/50 Drawing 1 st draw received $ nd rd, 4 th, and 5 th draws received $30.00 each. 3 door prizes were also awarded. After the Board and 50/50 coordinators were introduced, the Secretary read the highlights of the previous meeting, and Ron Frinkley read the Treasurer s report. He stated that there is an ending balance of $4, New Members There were 6 new members attending and welcomed into the club. George Wyman outlined when and how the monthly meeting is conducted, how to sign up for rallies, responsibilities once you do signup, becoming aware of the club s activities through handouts, and especially through our website TVRVC.org. 50/50s are offered every month, and a For Sale table is provided for those wishing to buy or sell RV materials. The preferred color of the club apparel is yellow. A new policy about rally cancelations and deposits was mentioned. Wagonmasters Presentations Lazy Days/RV Show from last month; Golf Outing May 4 Bacall and Bogart courses; Stone Mountain, GA; Grand Lakes RV and Golf Resort; Disney; River Ranch RV Resort; Bluegrass Festival; the Tigers/Yankees Spring Training Rally; and the Mayport Naval Air Station. Wagonmaster dongles will be given to those who have led rallies. Tip of the Month Roger said that this is a good website to find veterinary clinics if you are on the road, and your pet needs assistance. It is: AAHA.org (American Animal Hospital Association) Head Wagonmaster Report In a special report, Roger outlined some policy changes and procedures. 1. Additional costs must be included before wagonmasters post their rallies. 2. Refund of $25.00 deposit if the wagonmaster is contacted within 7 days. 3. Wagonmasters can fill the first five (5) slots. 4. Roger asked for feedback from the club. There will be a discussion period after the general meeting for those who might want to know more about the duties of a wagonmaster or cowagonmaster. President s Remarks 1. Thanks to Alliance for providing the Dunkin Donuts. 2. Badges are available and may be ordered as well. 3. First Timers Seminar held on January 19 th was successful. Thirty (30) members showed up. A checklist handout can be found at the foot of the stage. 4. The Villages Outdoor Expo on Feb. 27 th and 28 th at La Hacienda (Spanish Springs area) - volunteers are needed. 5. Village Landscaping Please give John specific locations where trimming is needed throughout The Villages. 6. An audit review was conducted for Ron and Shirley Frinkley and John and Peg Cormier are planning a Fort Meyers Rally in May. Sign up next month. 8. Volunteers are needed to take orders for new badges and sell club merchandise. 9. Possible double/triple rallies in a June/July time frame.
7 10. A chairperson is needed to head the Picnic in the Spring. 11. Chairpersons are needed for this year s Holiday party. The format will be a cocktail party, appetizers, a DJ, and casual dress. 50/50 1 st draw received $ nd rd RV Flea Market Items: Cover for motorhome; 50 amp cord; tire pressure gauge. Badges They may be ordered in February. 1 st Timers Seminar - It will be held on January 19, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at the Coverall Storage area. If interested, please sign up and remember to bring a chair. Rallies Rallies from last month (Ft. Lauderdale Christmas show and Kissimmee) were reviewed. Wagon Masters gave presentations on future rallies: Stone Mountain near Atlanta, GA; Lazy Days in Tampa, FL; Florida State Blue Grass Festival in Perry, FL; Detroit Tigers/NY Yankees Spring Training Rally in Lakeland, FL; FMCA in Perry, GA; River Ranch RV Resort; the Golf Outing ; and Disney. John asked for volunteers to work a 3 (three) hour shift at the Villages Outdoor Expo on Feb. 27 th and 28 th. Also he is asking for volunteers to review the Financials of the club. Roger Blevins listed all the WM and rallies that occurred in WMs and the WM coordinator were acknowledged. Sunshine report Jo Spinks sent 2 (two) sympathy cards. (Carol Mckecknie and Debbie Glistner) Thanks to the Hoffays for organizing the breakfast in December.
