2 Have Book... Will Travel June 10th - July 19th (Sign Up June 10th - June 29) Lil Travelers (ages 0-3) Babies and younger children can be read to or practice reading with their parents. Finish your reading log to win a prize. Kids (ages 4-12) Instead of counting hours, this year you will be given tasks to complete. Cross them off on your reading log bingo card, and complete a row to win coupons and prizes. Finish the entire reading log to enter our grand prize raffle. Plus, this year kids will get 6 plays on the Plinko board or our new fishing game. Use them all at once or space them out. Teens (ages 13-18) Get a free gift just for signing up! This year, you ll complete the tasks listed on your reading log passport. For each finished task, we ll stamp your passport and give you a ticket for our weekly raffle drawings. Complete the entire passport to enter our grand prize raffle drawing. Get your log checked early and often for more chances to win. Adults (ages 19+) For signing up, you ll get a free gift! Read 5 books, fill out your reading log, and turn it in to enter our weekly and grand prize raffle drawings. Kick-Off Party & Scholastic Book Fair Make sure you bring the whole family by for our annual kick-off party in the library s parking lot. On Monday, June 10th from 1:00-3:00 PM, stop by for a petting zoo, bouncy castle, chalk mural, music, and snacks. And, of course, don t forget to sign up for the 2013 Summer Reading Program! Also, pop downstairs to check out our Scholastic Book Fair, taking place in the children s section the first week of Summer Reading. Help support the library by picking up some great reads! FAQs Who can participate? All users of the Shorewood-Troy Library can sign up. Summer Read is an all ages program. I ve signed up for Summer Read. Do I still need to sign up for individual programs and events? Yes. You must still register for each individual event that you plan on attending. How much does it cost? This is a FREE program for the Shorewood community. Help us break our sign-up record! Last year, we had over 1300 kids, teens, & adults participate in the Summer Reading Program! Do I have to read specific books, and do they have to come from the library? No. You can choose whatever books you want, although we do hope you come in to check out our collection and what we have to offer! 2

The March snowstorms caused a leak in our basement. The board and administration are currently working to fix the problems to keep us dry in the future. So keep a lookout for new carpeting coming to the children's area this summer/fall! In the meantime, thank you for your patience. We will post progress updates once we have more info! The Library Board The Shorewood-Troy Public Library District Board of Trustees consists of seven elected members. All Shorewood- Troy Public Library District board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the library. Meetings are open to the public. Board of Trustees Phillip Besler, President Thomas Novinski, Vice President Helen Valantinas, Secretary Robert Stahl, Treasurer James Harmon, Trustee Joseph Nichols, Trustee Sharon Parker, Trustee With Each Farewell, A New Beginning The Board and Staff of the Shorewood-Troy Library would like to thank our two departing board members: Artis Koehler and Arthetta Reeder. Both are long-serving members of the board; Artis was first elected in 1987 and Arthetta in During their tenures, circulation and programming have grown and the library has become busier! Artis was here to see the basement being remodeled into our current Children s Area; both were here to see the extension and remodeling of the parking lot. Other changes have occurred during their tenure as well, like the creation of an Adult Services Department and the development of the Teen Area. New technologies, including public computers and ebook collections were also established. Both Artis and Arthetta have served the library well with their guidance and support. We will miss their collective 42 years of experience!
