Looking for a new gardening challenge this year? Or maybe a way to contribute to your community by beautifying its surroundings? Greet Spring in a whole new way by adopting a spot to tend at the Noble County Public Library! The Noble County libraries are looking for families, individuals, civic organizations, service clubs, scouts or church groups to select a garden patch on the grounds of either the Central, East or West locations and maintain it for the year. After choosing a site participants are free to decide whether to just maintain as is, add to, or start over with a total new design. They will be asked to purchase everything needed and do the maintenance necessary for the success of their spot. Some may choose to trim existing bushes and trees, some may wish to just keep up with the weeding, oth- ers may have unique design ideas of their own. The library will provide a sign for each area recognizing the participating gardeners. NCPL wishes to promote community involvement and at the same time keep maintenance costs down with Adopt-A-Spot all the while improving your public libraries. For more information call me at or the branch managers: at East Victoria Ferguson at or West s Janet Harper at Sandy Leap of faith Denise Lemmon, left, executive director of LEAP of Noble County receives a $200 check from Mandy Mawhorter, materials manager and representative of employees of the Noble County Public Library. Employees of the library chose to begin a charitable donation custom in lieu of gift exchanges during the holiday season. The library felt first-year recipient LEAP was a natural choice as it promotes literacy throughout Noble County.
